From Hoopsworld, I know some ppl like Aboz and Jason will be interested in this,
Magic - Rebounding and interior dominance or an explosive playmaker: Emeka Okafor, Sebastian Telfair, Pavel Podkolzine and Jameer Nelson are the names Magic GM John Gabriel hints at, but will Gabe make the pick? The Magic are going through their motions and with eyes at a top three selection they are doing a lot of scouting.
Bulls - A Franchise Player: The Bulls have a lot of talent, but no one worth building the club around. The High Schooler experiment has turned them away from the hot "Schoolers" this year, so now we're talking Okafor, Nelson and possibly Josh Childress. Question is would the Bulls be willing to pack this pick and a player for a bigger name this summer? Most around the club say they do not want to miss the playoffs next year and their roster needs help now, not in two or three seasons. With no instant stars in this class, the Bulls may pass this pick down a few slots and get a veteran and a prospect versus another project.
Hawks - Someone who will draw fans... Dwight Howard is almost a lock to go to the Hawks, if he's there. If someone grabs him higher expect the Hawks to go after Pavel Podkolzine or Ivan Chiriaev. The Hawks want and need size, and those are the biggest upside guys with height on the board. Dark horses for the Hawks could be Ben Gordon or Sebastian Telfair, if they are still on the board, the Hawks need help at the point too.
Bobcats - A foundation... The first two years in Charlotte will be ugly, so their first draft needs to give them something to build around. If Sebastian Telfair is there, that's my choice, but Dwight Howard or 6-8 "Schooler" Josh Smith may be an answer too. Ben Gordon wouldn't be a horrible pick, and a reach for the Bobcats would be going after 6-8 Dukie Luol Deng, he needs more time to develop, but a Duke player being in Charlotte wouldn't hurt the fans base.
Wizards - Impact guy at any position... The Wizards are fairly set at every spot but Power Forward, it's unlikely Ernie Grunfeld goes "Schooler" but with Josh Smith looking like a prospect and the chance that Dwight Howard could slide, there may be a gamble thee, but seeing how the franchise is paying for Kwame Brown, a proven may be more likely even a Euro like 6-11 Andris Biedrins who is playing limited minutes in Europe is drawing comparisons to Darko Milicic. Biedrins may be the equivalent to a Euro High Schooler in his grasp of the NBA game, but a left handed forward can change the way plays are run and force guys to defend in different positions on the floor.
Suns - Size and Shooters. The Suns haven't shied away from the foreign players, so if Pavel Podkolzine or 7-3 Martynas Andriuskevicius both could be solid additions for the Suns. On the shooters front, there are a few notables, but none worth taking at #6, unless you think highly of Josh Childress, who is currently shooting 48% from the floor on 173 attempts, and roughly 42% from collegiate three on 61 attempts in the 17 games he's played, as a swingman type he may not have a role with Shawn Marion and Joe Johnson dominating the minutes. The Suns would be smart to address their size issue.
76ers - Impact player? What the 76ers need is new direction and management, but you don't get that from the draft. The 76ers could use a solid point- Eric Snow's days are numbered. Its doubtful Sebastian Telfair is here, but could you imagine a backcourt of Iverson and Telfair? Sick. Undersized, but sick none the less. The 76ers would be smart to look at an athletic SF type, Miami's Dairus Rice comes to mind, but #7 is WAY too high for Rice. At #7, the better prospects may be Andre Iguodala, he's leading his Arizona Wildcats in assists and steals for the season, and shooting better than 46% from the field. He's a big body that defends very well, and rebounds aggressively. When you have AI on your team, rebounding is important. 6-8 Dukie Luol Deng could fit here nicely as well.
Clippers - Point Guard. The Clips need a point in the worst way. Sports Illustrated claims the Clips are in love with Sebastian Telfair. Unless the Bulls trade down to the Clips, there is very little shot Telfair is on the board at #8 leaving the Clippers Ben Gordon, Devin Harris or 6-7 "Schooler" Shaun Livingston, who some call a point guard. Of the three Livingston is least prepared to run a NBA team, while Gordon may be gone, leaving Harris who may be a stretch to go this high
Warriors - Defenders? The Warriors don't have a lot of immediate needs, point is fairly set, swing guard spots are set, forwards are set, at #9 there won't be much at Center left so maybe the Warriors go best available? Andris Biedrins, a player they can develop slowly... 7'1 "Schooler" Ivan Chiriaev, who they have scouted a few times this year... 6-11"Schooler" LaMarcus Aldridge has surfaced on some scouting lists. Without clear needs this may be a stockpile pick add talent to the bench.
Raptors - Beef and Rebounding. 7-3 Martynas Andriuskevicius is likely to be there at #10. BYU's Rafael Araujo. 7-3 Ha Seung-Jin from Korea. 6-10 Anderson Varejão, a huge leap to go this high. At #10 in this class, you may go best available, and there are some likely guys with talent still here, namely Kris Humphries and Hakim Warrick - both play positions the Raptors have locked up, but depth is never a bad thing for the Raptors.
Heat - The Heat like the Warriors do not have many needs, don't expect the Heat to go "Schooler", that said Nevada's Kirk Snyder, Oregon senior Luke Jackson, 'Cuse swingman Hakim Warrick, or even Miami stud Darius Rice could shock people at this spot. 6-8 Dukie Luol Deng if he were still on the board would be a nice pick up for Miami, and he's coachable.
Cavaliers - The Cavs will likely go best on the board, at #12 there are only prospects not payers, don't be surprise to see them go after 6-11 "Schooler" LaMarcus Aldridge or 6-9 "Schooler" forward Marvin Williams, given the success they have had with LeBron. At #12 you go upside, and both guys have big upside.
SuperSonics - Just about everything. At #13, I grab the best talent, I can find leaving guys like 6-11 "Schooler" LaMarcus Aldridge , 7'1 "Schooler" Ivan Chiriaev, 7-3 Ha Seung-Jin from Korea even 6-3 Tarheel star Rashad McCants on the radar. Smart money says the Sonics go after size.
