I read something a few weeks ago that showed Leury was 3rd in *baseball* in RBI opportunities per plate appearance this year. Maybe it's changed a bit since then, but no matter what, the game always finds Leury up in a big spot

Teams have been so aggressive pitching him middle-middle over the last few weeks. My hope is that when Houston tries it he's able to punish it. At least he didn't swing at some of those garbage splitters which he probably would have done a few weeks ago.

I'm sure a lot people will react cynically to this, and I get it, but the Sox had the 4th highest payroll in baseball in '06. There is precedent for Jerry spending *after* the team had success. I don't think it's pie in the sky thinking to expect them to seriously go after one of those 2 players. Especially when Nightengale (fwiw) was linking them to Story at the trade deadline.
