  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) I'll be there. They finally picked a lane. This is the absolute correct course of action. I'll go my usual 10-15 times. And they have the cheapest tickets in the league. And as young guys come up, the game will get exciting again. As usual, greg doesn't understand, but ask a Cub or Astro fan if their patience was worth it. I believe you will be rewarded for your loyalty.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) Sox just dropped a fly ball. Yeah they are ready for the season. How in the world can fans fill the Cell for Opening Day if they know anything about this team? If I still lived in Chicago, I would go. The fans that know what is going on know this is what the White Sox need to do. Finally, they deserve our support.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Moncada won't be up this season. That would be ridiculous if you are trying to lose 110 games. If he's ready for the bigs, then there's no reason we should be doing a rebuild, we should be tinkering and try to win if he's gonna be on the big league team from May on. If he's a major league player, there's no reason to leave him in the minors after May.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) I picked 55 to 59 wins. The offense projects to be so bad I'd suggest our road record will be horrific. The starting pitching is not good so we'll lose our share of games very early. And our bullpen reeks so we'll blow 1/3 to 2/3 of the games we lead late. I think it's gonna be one of the worst teams the Sox have ever had. We'll know very early there is no hope of .500. If we lost that many games, our system had better be loaded. And regarding Abreu, if he wins "a couple of games", i'm fine with it. Moncada coming up in May will likely benefit from having Jose around.
  5. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) Why can't he work on that while batting leadoff? Because that doesn't usually work. This team is going to be bad. Every move with the young guys must be deliberate and cautious.
  6. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) I don't get the fascination with Anderson's power stroke, that's not what's going to make or break him as a player. It's not really a matter of power stroke. Anderson needs to walk more before he leads off.
  7. The kids voices are special.
  8. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) 69-93. Sale and Eaton are gone. Avi will be playing in the field. Impending trades. I think the Padres have the #1 pick wrapped up but the Sox should get a top 6 pick. My heart tells me that's an acceptable finish, but my brain knows it could be worse. Just so glad this team is doing the right thing.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) I don't want to tell a manager to try and lose. That's horrible for player development to tell the guys not to try too hard. I don't expect him to try and lose. I expect him to get the most out of his players to increase the older guys' value to trade for prospects. That's how we keep the win total down. If all goes to plan, guys like Moncada (for however long he's up), Anderson, and Rodon have solid, building block seasons, but the White Sox still are bottom five in baseball. And as far as the Joe Maddon thing, that stuff just happens. I want to give Renteria a better shot than he got on the north side
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) I want him to feel free to develop his power stroke and I worry at leadoff he'll feel pressure to just make any contact. Agreed. And I feel like the White Sox simply rush too many guys into those first few spots, only to drop them back to the 7-9 slot never to return.
  11. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) I think Anderson should bat leadoff every single game and regardless of how he's doing, he should stay there the entire season. The Cubs did a similar thing with Rizzo when he came up with them, they batted him third everyday regardless of his performance. Anderson's OBP was his weakness last year. If you want to throw games, that's the thing to do, but it's probably not worth ruining his development.
  12. Is there any doubt Noah Hawley is the best showrunner on television? Between him and Vince Gilligan, but Legion is just so much different than Fargo while BCS is a spinoff of BB
  13. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) I'll say 69-93, though it certainly could be worse. Fangraphs depth charts (an incredibly shallow and basic method of prediction) has us last in the majors in WAR, even before veterans are traded. It's painful on the surface, but that's really good news
  14. Well, the highest OBP from last year still on the team this year is Abreu, but second is Melky, who I agree is better trade bate. Might as well get him the most at bats.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 11:46 PM) "Might as well" is a whole lot different than saying it's a total failure. It would benefit them if they lose more but it's not a total failure if they don't. I mean, the picks are a critical part of a rebuild. Being perennially bad only gets you so far. You have to be BAD and hit on high draft picks.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) No way they win more than 70. I hope you're right. Especially if Q is off the roster.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) If this team wins 75 games, it means a lot of guys will have trade value, which did not have trade value before. I would hope if that happened, some of the talent would move at the deadline.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) Benetti/AJP? I'm down. Never going to happen. Stoney is too good of an analyst. It's possible down the line, I suppose, but not for a number of years.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Chisox are all in this season. I think we certainly can contend Good thing the front office knows better. That being said, you tend to think the opposite of everyone here, so it's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic. If this team wins more than 70 games, management is doing this incorrectly.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Cool for Basabe to get a shot to play in a fun stage. He's a guy I want a much longer look at. Obviously he's not ready, but the organization has made it clear he wasn't a throwaway piece.
  21. Whatever gets us the Beer pick
  22. I expect them to make the playoffs and lose to a better pitching staff. That being said, as a casual observer, this Cubs regular season doesn't interest me much ESPECIALLY because the White Sox are finally showing signs of institutional awareness.
  23. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Yes, but against a RH starter, I would have Asche in RF and a LH DH, like Delmonico (instead of Davidson) You are way too concerned about this for a team that should be bad.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) It is in the White Sox best interest to not be horrifically bad. We need good first couple months from the guys we can move - Quintana, Frazier, Abreu, Jones, Robertson, Melky, Jennings Gonzalez, Holland, and Shields. We want the younger fringe guys to not be terrible and look the part of a potential part of the White Sox future - Saladino, May, Narvaez, and to a lesser extent guys like Davidson, Sanchez, Tilson, amd Ynoa. Then you have our obvious building blocks in Rodon and Anderson, soon to be joined by Moncada, Giolito, and Lopez that we want to look good. I wonder if all these guys playing well would lead to Kenny changing to a buyer. That CANNOT happen. Full rebuild.
  25. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 08:17 AM) I agree that it isn't a big deal but IMO, it is probably a waste of time and money. What bothers me is that they need a LH bat to DH and Davidson takes up that last roster spot. For a team like this, LH/RH is almost meaningless.
