Is there any doubt Noah Hawley is the best showrunner on television? Between him and Vince Gilligan, but Legion is just so much different than Fargo while BCS is a spinoff of BB

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) I'll say 69-93, though it certainly could be worse. Fangraphs depth charts (an incredibly shallow and basic method of prediction) has us last in the majors in WAR, even before veterans are traded. It's painful on the surface, but that's really good news

Which of these (bad) options would you bat lead off?
Bananarchy replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, the highest OBP from last year still on the team this year is Abreu, but second is Melky, who I agree is better trade bate. Might as well get him the most at bats. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 11:46 PM) "Might as well" is a whole lot different than saying it's a total failure. It would benefit them if they lose more but it's not a total failure if they don't. I mean, the picks are a critical part of a rebuild. Being perennially bad only gets you so far. You have to be BAD and hit on high draft picks.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) No way they win more than 70. I hope you're right. Especially if Q is off the roster. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) If this team wins 75 games, it means a lot of guys will have trade value, which did not have trade value before. I would hope if that happened, some of the talent would move at the deadline.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) Benetti/AJP? I'm down. Never going to happen. Stoney is too good of an analyst. It's possible down the line, I suppose, but not for a number of years.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Chisox are all in this season. I think we certainly can contend Good thing the front office knows better. That being said, you tend to think the opposite of everyone here, so it's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic. If this team wins more than 70 games, management is doing this incorrectly. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Cool for Basabe to get a shot to play in a fun stage. He's a guy I want a much longer look at. Obviously he's not ready, but the organization has made it clear he wasn't a throwaway piece.

Whatever gets us the Beer pick
-
I expect them to make the playoffs and lose to a better pitching staff. That being said, as a casual observer, this Cubs regular season doesn't interest me much ESPECIALLY because the White Sox are finally showing signs of institutional awareness.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Yes, but against a RH starter, I would have Asche in RF and a LH DH, like Delmonico (instead of Davidson) You are way too concerned about this for a team that should be bad.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) It is in the White Sox best interest to not be horrifically bad. We need good first couple months from the guys we can move - Quintana, Frazier, Abreu, Jones, Robertson, Melky, Jennings Gonzalez, Holland, and Shields. We want the younger fringe guys to not be terrible and look the part of a potential part of the White Sox future - Saladino, May, Narvaez, and to a lesser extent guys like Davidson, Sanchez, Tilson, amd Ynoa. Then you have our obvious building blocks in Rodon and Anderson, soon to be joined by Moncada, Giolito, and Lopez that we want to look good. I wonder if all these guys playing well would lead to Kenny changing to a buyer. That CANNOT happen. Full rebuild.
-
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 08:17 AM) I agree that it isn't a big deal but IMO, it is probably a waste of time and money. What bothers me is that they need a LH bat to DH and Davidson takes up that last roster spot. For a team like this, LH/RH is almost meaningless.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) FOX Sports: MLBVerified account @MLBONFOX 9m9 minutes ago #Mets’ Jeurys Familia suspended 15 games under MLB’s domestic-violence policy Hopefully he gets the help he needs and no one gets hurt, but the irony of a guy named Familia getting suspended for domestic violence doesn't escape me.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Keeping Gar/Pax makes no sense either. Not a good mix all around. They spend way too much time burning the bridges they are currently using.

Abreu (Sorry, new at this) -
Good for Scotty Pods. I hear he's a likable guy. I always liked him as a player and I'll never forget his accomplishments in 2005

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) Yes they'd be much better off turning away the number one recruit in the country WHO GREW UP COLUMBIA MISSOURI. Ben Simmons wasn't bad for LSU. Jonny Jones was. No reason why Antonio Blakeney and others couldn't pull that team up, he was just a bad coach. You can say Cuonzo's teams have bad ruts, but he's not Jones for godsake Full disclosure: I don't care about Mizzou. The Illinois/Mizzou rivalry is entirely manufactured and not real. I'm just not enamored with that one year and done five star guy for a struggling program like Mizzou. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 07:03 AM) Brandon Saad (CLS): 22 goals Richard Panik (CHI): 22 goals I still think Saad is still a better player, but you can't beat Panik's value

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) I'm not sure it's one way or the other, I wouldn't have tried to talk to my girlfriend if I wasn't attracted to her but hips seem kind of nitpicky. Agreed. The thought of worrying about hips is a bit of a Stretch!

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) I'll have my model 3 in about a year or less, I'll let you know how it is. I'll bet you two tickets to the 2019 Cubs series at the Rate you won't have a Model 3 by April 15 of 2018

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) If Q wins the cy young people might start to think he's a solid #2 starter. God if we could go into the deadline being bad but still have awesome Q. Tantalizing to say the least.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) Can't wait for them to be decent for one year then fall off the map again (ala LSU) That's the exact comparison I would make as well. Cuonzo is all set to underperform. I'm not sure a one and done is what Mizzou needs right now with a serial underperformer at the helm. -
Too bad about Illinois State. I was looking forward to Illinois smacking them.
