Buehrle jersey retirement
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) Not counting Jackie, except for Dodgers. A's: 5 Braves: 10 Cardinals: 12 (42 for Sutter) Cubs: 6 (31 twice) Dodgers: 10 Giants: 11 (two names honored as they played before numbers) Indians: 6 Orioles: 6 Phillies: 7 (two similar to Giants) Pirates: 9 Reds: 10 Red Sox: 10 Tigers: 6 Twins: 7 White Sox: 11 (counting Buehrle) Yankees: 20 (42 for Rivera, 8 twice, not counting Jeter) So the Sox are basically middle of the pack. You could make extremely strong arguments for Ozzie. As a player? Nah. But you can say "World Series Champion Manager" and everyone will understand retiring his number.

Assessing the White Sox Future and Hawk's Announcing Future
QUOTE (Donaldo @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:07 PM) He recently did the Iowa/Indiana game with Dan Dakich. He asked a bunch of very good questions as well. He and Dakich worked VERY well together IMO. I agree. He's a kid. Right now, he doesn't have a ton of experience and the guys he gets paired with are older with more experience and expertise. It would make sense he defers to his broadcast partners.

Rebuild hardest on JR
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 07:30 AM) Because he has 5 years left on a cheap deal. He is a real little guy, I think his speed will be with him for the duration of the contract. I am not so thrilled with the return. Now I feel even better about the deal.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 09:18 PM) Toews is still really good. Panic needs to realize that he has it really good hear and deserves a raise, but maybe a discount at the team that might of saw something with him. Not happening. Enjoy this while it lasts.

Nick Schmaltz looks insanely good tonight. Toews line built out of thin air.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Whoa Jason Goff just flexed some muscles on air when Chuck Wasserstrom wasn't answering questions they were asking What a garbage interview. I was super uncomfortable.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 07:37 AM) Why do you hate Albert Belle ? He had one of the greatest seasons in Sox history and then were able to get rid of him before he got hurt ? Win Win . In 1998 Belle had 399 total bases . The most Frank Thomas ever had was 364 . Trout and Willie Mays never got that high. Hank Aaron reached exactly 400 once. Pujol's high was 394. That 1998 season was a historic year for Belle. Doesn't change that Albert Belle was a living piece of garbage. Can we get a Norberto Martin banner?

Nick Swisher Retires
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) When Gio Gonzalez is literally the best play you've traded away, I think you're doing OK. Obviousl KW never focused on acquiring young players and keeping his farm intact, but honestly no one he traded away ever amounted to much. The Chris Youngs, Dan Hudsons, Aaron Poredas, Chris Carters, Jeremy Reeds, Brandon McCarthys, Clayton Richards, etc., never became quality big leaguers that would have been core players for the Sox. I didn't necessarily always love KWs style, but what he traded away never amounted to much. That was before the whole league realized the Williams regime couldn't draft fielding talent.

Nick Swisher Retires
I wasn't a big fan, but he seemed like a decent guy.

Nick Swisher Retires
Kind of a fun article for Swisher declaring his retirement. I wish he would have been a little better, here, but he was fun when things were good. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/nick-swis...m-is-over-baby/

Honestly, that call was consistent with the garbage fouls in the modern NBA.

2017 Music thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) Yeah, it did debut at #1 though in US/Canada/UK, it pushed quite a few records. Right, but The Suburbs certainly deserved it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 12, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Nice! You like the tech inside? My Q7 and your A4 are the first to get the overhaul. So far, pretty happy with it. The tech is great, but honestly I mostly just use CarPlay. The ride is just pure joy, even in the comfort setting. Didn't go with a lot of options, and the only thing I really miss are the really cool LED DRLs, but overall I'm really happy. I'm conditioned to worry about Audi reliability, and yet all the major reliability metrics have Audi near the top of brand performance.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Grammys are the worst. They have a long track record of giving awards to bad music. Milli Vanilli won a damn award. Beyonce went and made an amazing album this year, though. So much great artistry on "Lemonade"

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Soha @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) I want to dump players as much as anyone, to secure going on the 'Beer Run'. That said, I'm not so sure trading Robertson really makes this team worse. He is probably the only guy I'd prefer they hold on to until the deadline. See if he can rebuild his value back up. We have no use for him, though...

I hate owner/JR threads. RIP to what most seem to think was a great man.

Caught the Stars for the first time this season. They are the definition of fun-bad. That offense and pace is nuts, but the defense and goaltending is just pathetic.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Is that an A4 or A6? I still really like the Q3, but lately I've been drooling over getting a 2 door sporty convertible. 100% stupid for Chicago but dammit I want one 2017 A4 2.0T quattro. There is an A5 sport Cabriolet, but yeah, in Chicago that's a little silly. The Quattro is excellent and the handling is nuts. This one makes 255 hp and it's on the Torsen quattro setup.
