  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) No offense, but Crawford has essentially carried this team until his appendix burst. He's not going anywhere quite yet. I tend to agree. I would hate to lose Panarin, however. A young talent like him may be too hard for this organization to lose. Saad was bad, Sharp was necessary, but Panarin looks like he has a bright future and I would hate to see it in another uniform.
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I'm willing to bet he gets no more than 2.5-3 mil which is still half of Crawford's contract. I wish the Hawks knew this a year or two ago. Could've traded Crawford and kept Saad. I probably wouldn't deal him now (Vegas could take Kruger in the expansion draft) but I wouldn't be opposed to it either. It comes down to whether or not the Blackhawks can reasonably move Brent Seabrook. That's a long, ugly contract, but he is a blue liner. If not him, pray for an increase and try to move Kruger.
  3. I wonder who gets moved to keep Panarin.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) Does seem harmless, but what they are allowing is still hazing. Drop it all. What's the point ? We agree. They're professional baseball players. Real-world Professionals shouldn't be subject to hazing.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) I think there is a real possibility he ends up with the Rams. I was thinking the same thing. If money is what drives him, the Rams will make it happen. Any NFL team can.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) The 1st year I could kind of see why. You aren't sure what you have in Cutler, you try like crazy to move him plus others to get Mariotta, but you can't, and you look at the draft board following it and don't really like anyone (and know you have massive needs everywhere). Last year, was harder to look past, that said, when you think about it again, Cutler was coming off a strong season and I'm sure everyone actually envisioned a higher probability of him being around longer then previous. That said, we did have enough picks where you would have thought we took a QB, but again, I understand trusting your draft board. This year, I can't see any logical scenario where we ignore the position. Too many positions to fill not named "quarterback" and no good quarterback prospects. And before you say "Dak Prescott", know every team passed on him 4 times, including the Cowboys.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) Who's the better coach: Fisher or Trestman? Fisher. A good Fisher comparison is Lovie Smith. Although Lovie had about half the good fortune.
  8. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) Pace has actually done a pretty good job in the draft and FA why the hell would you get rid of him already? Doesn't make any sense to me, either.
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) And they still kicked the s*** out of Dallas. Darling was brilliant again
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) The Bears absolutely need to do something at QB. Either a high draft pick or a trade for a short term veteran, or perhaps even both. The fact that this administration hasn't even tried, despite knowing the clock on Cutler would potentially have him cut after this year, is inexcusable. At least spend a 3rd round pick and see if you find a Dak Prescott. The Bears need to make a move at quarterback, but you can't blame them for thinking they would have Cutler a whole season. The administration hasn't tried, but they haven't had to. No one honestly thought Dak Prescott (Dallas' fifth pick in the draft) would be the franchise quarterback to come out of this draft.
  11. Toews is out again for the matchup against the Stars, but he's back in practice.
  12. As usual, DA has no idea what he's talking about. Jason and a Stone are great.
  13. Spider-man is the absolute best, and Tom Holland looks like the best overall Peter Parker and Spider-man based on what we have seen. That being said, I also get the fatigue factor. Dr. Strange did it for me. Another origin story. Ugh. I'm hoping for more from Spider-man, and the Avengers movies with all the heroes should be interesting, but I'm about done with these individual heroes. Except Spider-man. And Deadpool
  14. He needs to go. The other broadcast without him is night and day better. He was great like ten years ago. Now he's just a caricature.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 05:49 AM) Eaton was great with the White Sox. Averaged only about 0.5 WAR a year less than Bryce Harper the last 3. Definitely will be missed on the field, and seemed like a really good guy off. I really don't know where Deadpool is coming from. He probably would have a different take if Eaton was going to the Cubs. You and Greg are on your own plane of special.
  16. QUOTE (heirdog @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) I'd give Quintana, Robertson and Frazier a 0% chance of being w the White Sox at spring training. There's been too much discussion and they are too far along in discussions for some team not to blink. Abreu likely stays until July to regain his value. Nate Jones stays simply to up his value as our closer. Those two might be with the Sox all of next year unless we get overwhelmed at the deadline. Melky, Jennings and limited interest guys will get shipped as soon as someone gives a viable piece either before the season or at the deadline. Q 40% Robertson 50% Frazier 10% Have to move Frazier to a team that can't see past his power numbers
  17. I'm happy with the progress, but more pieces should be moved. I feel like peak Quintana value would be next July or Dec of next year
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:16 PM) A post like this infuriated me ... "Love the fraudulent Grindy-ness. I wonder which child of a Nationals player will be dubbed a team leader by Spanky." All I did was respond to this mean post and stand up for Eaton who did a nice thing for a blind kid. Where's the outrage for a post like that in an appreciation thread? Now you know how we all feel. It was all a bit. Nick Swisher 2.0. It was all fake and bad. And the crying on twitter was infuriating.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) They like LaRoche in DC, he will just bring Drake with him. Then he will buy him a train pass so he can Amtrak up to Boston to see his other buddy Chris S. Somebody needs to watch over the latchkey kid while Daddy is out "fighting" child prostitution in SE Asia. LaRoche Prostitute Fight Night feels like a blown marketing opportunity.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) There's a pretty large second tier and I think he's in it. First tier is coached with multiple nattys imo. I just have to figure out how to get in the Lane Kiffin tier. It can't be that hard if he did it.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) Harbaugh, dantonio, Petersen, dabo, Herman, there are many. I don't love the way Houston played against SMU and Navy. Herman looks like a good coach, but I'm not ready to call him among the best.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CH...-salaries.shtml The payroll for the next few years. If we trade Robertson and Frazier, we will have a payroll of around 65 million. In 2018 probably around 40 million once Melky, Lawrie and Avi gone. This is without even trading Quintana. We will have plenty of money to spend for the future in that massive FA class. Sounds like a good way to fail. If our rebuild is there in 2018, maybe we can mess with that class, but I wouldn't count on it.
  23. No. Wrong franchise. I'm not even sure the Cubs will pay for 2018 free agents. They'll likely pay their own guys (Bryant, Rizzo, etc), but smart money is against paying mega-contracts.
  24. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) You're kidding yourself if you think there's any correlation at all to this rebuild and the '18 free agent class. Those guys are probably going to be getting $300M+ easy. Never going to happen for this team. And the perfect time for a rebuild was probably 3-4 years ago before we traded prospects and wasted $ on crappy old FA's only to still suck. But hey, better late than never right? At least they seem to be doing it the right way too instead of a 1/2 assed retool like I was afraid of. The only correlation I can find is that teams realize they need to draft and develop young talent in order to compete with those mega-contracts.
