  1. We're like bad baseball community college! Every bad baseball player can come in!
  2. Only one of the options is a real baseball broadcast. Jason and Stone is a real baseball broadcast. Hawk has overstayed his welcome.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) The Sox are going to start winning games again. They aren't going to play the next 27 games at 7-20. The thing that's going to happen is they'll play well enough to make some trades that won't make a difference when they ultimately lose to division teams the final 33 games of the season. Your post 2005 Chicago White Sox Win or die trying. Tons of dying.
  4. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Oh, I'm quite serious. You derail one thread after another with your baseless accusations about "others" - not yourself - but "others" about what you perceive to be misery, angst, and bitterness. You are obsessed with the topic. Meanwhile, the irony of all ironies is that you are the one exhibiting misery, angst, and bitterness with all of your constant harping on this made-up nonsense. You pick fights with all the wrong people. What's worse is you never make much sense.
  5. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Do they roll out 3 outfielders for the whole game? If you're not top three, you're not in and therefore no closer than anyone else who is not in.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) I did say sniffing not in fwiw He's not really sniffing. He's pretty far behind the other guys.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) How the f*** is Jason Heyward sniffing an all star game? He's not. He won't have the votes and he definitely won't make it on merit.
  8. NL All-Star Voting so far
  9. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) This is the truth. Ventura doesn't matter. "The buck stops" here is a phrase JR has never heard of I guess. Not necessarily. For Hahn and KW to admit Robin was a mistake and replace him with a better manager is the most sensible thing IMHO. To leave Robin in charge and let this thing get driven into the ground is quitting on the season.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) Looking forward to your next list of failed White Sox players past... It would be easier to list the successes
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Expansion draft doesn't help for this year at least. Right. On one hand, the cap trouble and shorter contracts help the Blackhawks. On the other, there is little chance of cap relief from the draft. Second City Hockey estimates the Hawks situation is That's great for keeping the core together for sure. Or this diagram I found on twitter covers all of our assumptions
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) From what I was reading yesterday, most of the core have no move clauses in their contracts which would prevent them from going in the expansion draft. That may be why they are looking to trade Teuvo now, because he may likely have to go in the expansion draft anyway. Not all of them. If I had to guess, Crawford, Hossa could be exposed. Nothing is official, but it sounds like we could know about expansion very soon. The idea of exposing Crawford sucks. He was actually the Blackhawks' MVP. NHL still up in the air on NMCs, but most seem to think they won't be selectable. Kind of sucks.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) If the cap drops, like is being talked about, the team is pretty much capped out, and one of the core has to go. That's why I think the the Blackhawks will likely expose at least one core player in the expansion draft. The problem remains, though, a guy like Seabrook or Hossa can still hose the Blackhawks by retiring early even from another franchise.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) how about Lester? Take away him as well and I don't think they are where they are without those two. Don't get me wrong they have built a really good team and look like they are going to have a good run. But don't fool yourself that it is built solely on drafting good players and "doing it the right way" by not buying players. Right. I think the takeaway from the article is yes, Epstein is a legendary organization builder, but he makes his fair share of mistakes, especially when the team is okay throwing serious money at players. I sometimes wonder if Theo would be a better GM in a more cost controlled smaller market in the mold of Beane in Oakland.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) This cap situation really has the potential to finally do in the Hawks. Maybe, but if they can just continue to make the playoffs, they still have a shot with their top end talent. I still maintain their core is too big by one Seabrook. Panarin next season is going to be tough to pay.
  16. I made a stupid reply to a stupid thread. You got me. The White Sox have been bad. it's not "momentum" or anything like that. When you don't get on base, you don't win.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) I would be furious if they move Teravainen in a cap dump. He could probably fetch you a solid young defenseman by himself if we were going that route. I'm surprised a cap floor team won't take a chance with Bickell for one year, unless they don't want to help the Hawks out. But moving cost controlled assets is not the way to go. All the teams know the Blackhawks are in a bind and already missing pieces. No one is just going to take Bickell without something to sweeten the deal.
  18. Momentum is only as good as your next starting pitcher
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) FWIW, you just asked greg to be rational. I deserved what I got. My mistake.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) Please, fellow Sox fans, get off the Renteria bandwagon. Please. If he is the interim, keep Robin the rest of the season. Then quietly let Robin fade away with no new contract. Just say no to Renteria. Please explain.
  21. ESPN reporting the Blackhawks are struggling to move Brian Bickell (no kidding). The kicker is, the name teams want in order to take the bad money is Teuvo Teravainen. This would be a mega loser trade.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) It really hasn't. no manager would have won games with the 2013-2015 White Sox. But keep kidding yourselves, It's like you're watching a different team. You know it's time to fire a manager when the argument for keeping him is "Manager just isn't that important"

I'll join in. Sounds like good fun.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Didn't Greg already guarantee the Cubs' World Series title? At least 3? That's realistically the only thing standing in their way at this point... This Cubs team in this National league should have a couple of WS appearances. I'm not guaranteeing it, but we all need to get over the Cubs real fast. They're not going away.
  25. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 12:08 AM) Being that the uniform is only being worn to honor the Negro League, I am not certain what the point is in criticizing it. Did you only read the first post of this thread?
