Official 2013-2014 NCAA Football Thread
soxfan49 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
There were actually people out there today who bet Indiana +4 vs Missouri? -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 18, 2013 -> 04:40 PM) Wilson would get obliterated vs. press coverage. The idea is to bring him along slowly and put him on a NFL nutrition/workout regimen. Bennett's not getting many snaps anyway. At least Wilson is fast. Bennett isn't getting on the field much, and when he is, he's not getting the ball. He's consistently injured as well and he already took a pay-cut. Playing Wilson behind Anderson, Marshall and Jeffery isn't a bad option. He's not going to get the ball much anyway but at least he'll get game experience.
-
Why not just trade Bennett and make Wilson active? He can't be much worse.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) The 2012 draft class has a chance to be a really awful draft class. Jeffery? Frey?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) It's high time for me to ditch my Havlat sweater, any suggestions on buying a new one? I know which player I want, but I don't know if I really need to get the EDGE BS for $250, if I'm okay with the premier at about $150, or if there is something else I should know. Seems like everyone sells for same price, etc Go to Dick's or Triple Threat Sports in Orland, although their stuff has really tailed off. Get a Shaw, Saad, Keith, Kane, or Toews. Hjalmarsson wouldn't be a bad option either. All of those guys will be Hawks for awhile. -

It looks like the Coyotes are staying in Phoenix. STUPID. There are fans in Quebec City or Hartford that would be thrilled to have a team, unlike Phoenix, where they could host the Blue Jackets and there would be more Columbus fans. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) You conveniently left out: Penguins O > Bruins O. And actually, with a healthy Crosby...Penguins O > Hawks O. But it doesn't matter. The Penguins are the more talented team. Period. Doesn't mean Boston won't beat the Penguins, but if the Hawks can advance, they'd beat Boston more times out of 100 than they would the Penguins out of a 100. If you're strictly looking from a Hawks perspective, you hope Boston pulls the upset. If you are looking from a Goliath vs Goliath with the potential to possibly one of the best Stanley Cup Final series in the past 20 years, you hope Penguins win the series. But, lowers the chance the Hawks win. Still feel this way? -

I'm not so sure. Boston's D + Rask > Pittsburgh's D + Vokoun/MAF. Meanwhile, Hawks O = Pittsburgh's O. Crawford = Rask. I'd much rather see the Pens. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) Yeah, I meant Hawk. That ball wasn't even close to tying the game. I thought you were saying that Hawk wasn't far off. My fault. -
If a ball is about to leave the park for a homer and an outfielder throws up their glove to stop it and the glove makes contact with the ball making it stay in the field, it's ruled a triple.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) How can he be that far off? He thought that was going to be a HR. And it led to the two of them saying how Beckham is going to be a star. I think the "star" ship has sailed on Beckham. He is a fantastic fielder, average at best hitter. How can Hawk be so far off? It was a line drive that landed foul and didn't even get to the warning track. -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Well, he wouldn't be the first player to put it together at the age of 27, but yeah...he's not done it yet No, but since his first year, he hasn't shown me much. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) i mean, this is a hell of an at bat So he will be a hell of a player because of this AB? Come on. Beckham's done. He's nothing more than a good fielding 2B. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) Radio call wasn't any better... That's shocking, said no one ever.

Even when Louis played, he was ranked 47th by PFF and Slauson was 31st. WF also has him as the much better player. Keep in mind that Slauson is a very good pass protector and is always on the field. Also, from what I've read, Louis will make much more. This is definitely a good signing.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) Keith Yandle is extremely talented and would further support the Hawks as a team that starts the break from their own goal line. He's about twice the player that IKEA is; do not be silly. I never said Yandle isn't extremely talented or wouldn't help. My point is, I'd much rather have a forward. Leddy is up for a deal after the year and will likely command $3-3.5/year. If they're going to do that, he'll be their 5th D-man making that much. I'd much rather move him up with Oduya and get a forward for Hjalmarsson at year's end. For now, I'd rather trade picks or prospects for a forward. -

TFP is reporting that the Hawks are very interested in Keith Yandle and would send Hjalmarsson, a prospect and a pick to Phoenix for him. For me, that move doesn't help the Hawks. Yandle makes more and Hjalmarsson's been pretty damn good this year. Maybe they're thinking small on a C and will just go after Steve Ott. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:14 AM) Wow, f***ing stacked. Hawks/Penguins SC final will be a classic this summer! This won't happen. It's never #1 vs #1 seeds. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Hawks need a second line center and more importantly someone that can win a face-off. I wonder if Sharp gets the call as the Hawks have more than enough depth at wing. Or at least a C who can win a draw. Bolland has to be better, yes, but getting a guy like Boyd Gordon/Steve Ott/Antoine Vermette who can come in after an icing and win a draw is absolutely necessary. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) I'd rather have another Center than a winger anyway. Derek Roy of Dallas? He is an UFA and the Stars may be open for business. I doubt Dallas will trade with a team who will be in their division for the next 10 years (at least) but even if so, Roy can't win a faceoff to save his life. -
QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) Dwyane wade is just such a p**** But he and LeBron were seriously considering Chicago, man!

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3625597.story Louis gone to Miami. Carimi to guard will happen now. I think James Brown drafted last year is a major sleeper to start at one guard spot. James Brown wasn't drafted. If their plan is to go into 2013 with Brown and Carimi as their starting OG's combined with Garza at C, they're f***ed.

As soon as they dropped the puck tonight in Calgary, all of their fans were chanting "Iggy, Iggy." In an era where athletes are divas and demand trades when they don't have a chance to win, it's easy to appreciate the Jarome Iginla's of the world. That chant tonight gave me goosebumps. Wherever he ends up, I wish him the best.
