  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) I don't think Coop was fixing anything, its called stalling so your bullpen can get loose. We took way too long to get someone up. And waited until it was beatdown time. We've seen this before with Guillen. It was still fairly early in the game, and even though Contreras had nothing, Guillen was going to leave him out (for the opportunity to win). When Ramirez hit the HR, he had his hand forced.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) Why didn't a coach trot out to give him a breather instead of just watch him get wrecked. I haven't seen where a pitcher just gets mowed over for all those runs, and a pitching coach doesnt come out. I don't know, really. It happened fairly quick. And Cooper, if anyone, deserves to be absolved of blame. Contreras' forkball was like a Kirk Sarloos hanging slider.
  3. I'll admit it was disgusting watching Anderson swing and miss a hanging slider for strike three, but let's not appoint Wise as his limited successor. Especially in such a limited number of AB's.
  4. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) I would take Kerry Wood in a second. Funny how Wood's velocity hasn't dropped dramatically, even with surgery and injury issue after issue, yet Jenks' has.....
  5. Can't fault the offense. Seven runs should win majority of games. When people suggest individual players don't lose games, remember Contreras today. He lost the game. Better win tomorrow. Atleast have your pride and win a game, keep MInnesota off your back, and show the national audience you deserve to be a first place team.
  6. When did Howrys fastball become the single most devastating pitch in the history of baseball? Jesus, everyones fouling it back.......and it's the only pitch he has thrown this entire inning.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) "Hi, yes umm, I'd like the Jim Thome special- the one that comes with the taking of the first strike right there everytime, which eventually turns into fouling off good pitches to hit and then the weak ground out to 2nd." He swung at the first pitch yesterday and recorded an out. I don't care which pitch he decides to hit, just begin doing it with some authority more than twice a week.
  8. Watch tomorrow be a 2-1 game. No surprise we score 6 runs the same game we give up 11.
  9. LOL, even our breaks this series are weak. Ball misses Ramirez by mere inches, and instead of bases loaded 2 outs -- with the run still scoring -- RAmirez remains in the AB and grounds out.
  10. Generous strike call right there. Nice help from the umpire.
  11. If the Cubs were in this situation right here, against our best reliever, you'd expect a grand slam. Let's see how easily we end this inning.
  12. We have to take advantage of this. That last pitch could have easily been strike three the way this series has gone.
  13. OMG, CARLOS MARMOL!!11 Let's just leave the park now!! No one has ever hit him!
  14. LOLLERZ at Anderson striking out on a hanging slider.
  15. I'm really sick of this. It's difficult to come back when we're continuing to give up runs.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) You can still hear the buzz in that stadium over the embarrassing inning. Must be horrid to be a Sox fan in Wrigley today, especially after we led early. Must feel like they got hit with a hammer in the head and now all the mocking. I'm embarrassed just sitting in my basement watching the game, I can't imagine how the Sox fans in Wrigley feel. It's good to know if we miss the playoffs at the end of the season, this series will be the moment everyone looks at. We better win tomorrow. Cubs series aside, show yourself to be a f***ing first place team. Jesus.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) What a pathetic call, that was one of the worst calls on a check swing I have ever seen. No kidding. It wasn't even a borderline call. The bat didn't come anywhere close to crossing homeplate and it was practically angled at 45 degres.
  18. TERRIBLE f***ING CALL! He came nowhere close to swinging Nice job from Pop Up Crede.
  19. There should be eight runs on this board by the 8th inning. Marquis is throwing meatballs up there and the wind is blowing out.
  20. Let's see what this team is made of these last several innings. I don't give a s*** about Marmol, they better not wet themselves. Don't put down three outs in three pitches.
  21. Are you kidding me, Dye? We'd be as lucky to have any ball hit directly to one of our pitches for a tailor made DP this entire series, and of course, they find one with our hottest hitter up.
  22. EMBARRASSING. This is really terrible to watch.
  23. What I would have done if were Guillen is AT LEAST leave Danks in until a runner reaches. Leading 3-1 in the 7th, with 85 pitches, we could have afforded to have him bat for himself; and if a Cubs player reached at the bottom of the inning signal for the bullpen. He wasn't laboring. Just win the next two games and this game will be forgotten.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) Parents and/or coaches get waaaaaaaaay too involved in those games. Its like they are trying to live out their own little dreams that were dashed decades ago. I've vowed never to become one of those parents whenever I have children. Everyone has their own experiences, and it's the same issue generation after generation. Outside the games themselves these parents are just as bad. Just last month during a Chicago Fire game I'm stationed as security on the field while young children are playing soccer at halftime. This one parent comes up to me and claims someone working for marketing, for some reason, said he has exclusive access near the field (without proper credentials) to film his daughter play. After I politely tell him that without credentials I can't let him past, he proceeds to argue with me. For nearly the entire team his daughter is playing. At one point, he even takes his camera out and starts filming me while he's talking. It was really an uncomfortable moment. I flat out told him if he doesn't put down the camera I'm going to call my supervisors I'm a very patient person, but I cannot stand persistent people at my job -- whether it's fans or parents -- who thnk rules don't apply to thm. They don't respond to logic, or reason. These parents are exactly why their kids are embarrassed of them later in life.
