Awesome. Pitching scared. We just can't stand a 123 inning, can we? Have to make it a certainty Ramirez/Lee atleast have the opporutnity to bat with runners on.
-
I heard an interesting statistic earlier on ESPN -- Dempster had ONE DP over his last 9 starts. Today? Three.
-
Leadoff runner aboard. Lets score a run now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) There's just no energy, as everyone seems to be going through the motions. Maybe when we fall out of first place, that will show them that they actually have to play well to win games. It was set from the 1st inning, when the offense failed to score and Vazquez couldn't find the plate. I know people will say "OMG, HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS!!", but Vazquez was pitching scared. For a pitcher known for command, its sure strange he couldn't find it. I've never seen him have an inning like that in a Whtie Sox uniform.

This is really becoming pitiful. We just want to lose.
-
I'd seriously consider untentional intentionally walking ramirez. Let someone else beat us.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) Kershaw versus this team in the Dodger series should be comedy hour. Lefty check Big Curve check Good change check throws hard check never faced check Get in the chat, Mick. This is REALLY growing frustrating. Vazquez has to be perfect from this point on if we have any hope of getting back in this game.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Ha. You don't like that bit of information over and over and over again so much you think you're stuck in Groundhog Day ? I pray for bats not to break during our games. Or if they do, not to break up into sharp pieces.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) MAPLE! Another benefit of not having Hawk/DJ. Every broken bat gives them an excuse to suggest broken bats are dangerous, and how they'd rarely break back in their day.

Two innings, two DPs, one runner already stranded at second base. Now let's watch how a real offense operates with the Cubs. Funny how they do well when the leadoff player reaches....
-
I hope no one believes this game doesn't mean anything to the Sox. Has anyone EVER seen Vazquez as wild as he has been in the 1st? I don't believe he located one offspeed pitch for a strike. HEY, leadoff runner erased from a DP. What do you know?
-
This won't be a first place team for long. Embarrassing.
-
Tell me we aren't preparing ourselves for a sweep. Vazquez almost seems resigned to it. Somehow he forgot to pitch.
-
Are we purposely trying to get swept? HEY, LET'S BLOW ANOTHER SCORING OPPORTUNITY AND THEN THROW FIVE STRAIGHT BALLS!
-
Not this s*** again. Well, there's one opportunity wasted.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:21 PM) I won't pretend to know anything about Iowa State cept maybe I recall some good wrestling programs ?? Please don't get Heads going about Iowa. I'm convinced he looks for any reason to talk about his irrelevant state, and you're just adding reason for him to go on.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:20 PM) Stone made it sound like it was for a hit since Ramirez was way back at 3rd I don't know how far back he was, but we are talking about Pierzynski here. I'd still rather he not give up strikes.
-
Why the f*** would AJ bunt there? We need his bat, not his bunting abilities here.
-
A rainbow in Wrigley Field? Nothing unusual about that.

Win today and we won't have to worry about a worst case scenario. If these guys have any pride in themselves they won't let it happen.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) That montage of crying Cubs fans was epic. You'd think they were playing themselves today. Usually Sunday Night montages involve both teams. START WHORING THE CHAT, SON http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat

I wish he never would have brought up the second paragraph. We'll have to endure the "Sox fans are neanderthals" columns from people such as Mariotti for the upcoming days. I'm sure every fan base is the same in the comments they direct towards players, but with us, it seems everything negative is jumped upon and referenced for eternity.

This incident doesn't relate, at all, but I remember during the World Series when one of the Houston hitters (Mike Lamb?) was credited for a HR in Houston. However, upon viewing the instant replay, the ball was below the homerun barrier. Not much was made out of it; no controversy developed. Yet for everything that happened to us and umpires during the playoffs, the one play that directly resulted in runs crossing the board was ignored. I honestly believe Cabrera's ball was a home run as well, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse. We had other opportunities.

I love Guillen diminishing Edmonds' HRs in the post game show. Basically said he just had a good day, nothing more; and he rather pitch to him as a .218 hitter than Soriano any day. If he hits a HR, good for him. It was funny because the reporters probably expected Guillen to give a flavorless answer about the Edmonds acquisition being so good for them, and he didn't have any of it.
