QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I absolutely can't believe that Ozzie put PK, Swisher, and Fields in succession in the order. All three of those guys make hitting seem so difficult. Ramirez should be in between one of them to break up the suckiness. I don't know if any of those three have had success against Slowey, but it probably just came down to a RLR matchup from Guillen. If Konerko continues this stretch of terrible baseball (which has gone on too long to just say, "oh, he'll come out of it") then his ass needs to be dropped first and foremost.

Konerko's act is REALLY growing old.

Get your sweet asses in there.

We haven't had a game like this all year where we were behind, down to the last out (on two occasions) and hit a go ahead HR. I know there's still two months of baseball, but this win has made me think about playoff baseball.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) Motown Sports poster: The White Sox are just amazing, they're harder to kill than the gopher in Caddyshack. It seems like they've done this a half-dozen times in the last month of games against Texas and KC or whomever. He's right, too. Three games immediately come to mind. Game over. Sox win. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) That's about the most emotion I've ever seen from JD. I had the game on mute and figured it was gone just from his reaction. You never see him do that at all, much less a ball he thinks wouldn't leave the yard. Haven't seen a curveball like that from Jenks in awhile, either. -

HAHA, before Dye's HR I was just about to post Detroit should load the bases for Konerko. It was their best chance of winning. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 04:51 AM) The player was then arrested and taken to jail. That was insane, that guy really came out of nowhere I like the precedent this incident has provided us with -- players throwing balls into the stands! I hope it catches on in the majors.

I work security for Toyota Park and had my longstanding suspicions of Jimmy Buffett's lack of talent reaffirmed last night. Half his damn set is covers of other songs! And what's with all this frat-like terminology his hipster dufus fans have coined? Among them Parrotheads (which, supposedly, turned into Pirates), Landsharks, and probably several other words I just failed to catch onto. This is probably the same fate Dave Matthews will find himself in some day. Practically the same fanbase. I understand the experience exceeds the actual show, but is this worth several hundred dollars? I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary aside from beach balls flying all over, people in Hawaiian outfets and a similiarly themed front stage. Personally, I'd rather tailgate than attend his show. Thankfully for everyone he'll have another performance on Saturday!

What's the difference between Heath Ledger and Heath Ledger jokes? Heath Ledger jokes will get old.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) It would be pretty hard to look away if he has 30 or 40 more RBI than anyone else, but if Quentin keeps it up and the Sox win, he'll have a pretty good shot. Sportswriters are responsible for voting so it's possible they'll do something such as that. But really, Hamilton is a solid player and all, but what good are those additional 30/40 RBI's for Texas? Is that the only advantage he holds over other candidates? They probably won't be playing for anything in October, and if Rodriguez or Quentin are still putting up comparable numbers (with less RBI's) for teams in contention, they're more deserving of a most valuable player award.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) They'll give it to Hamilton. No one can say definitely as of now sure they'll give it to that druggie. Sure, if he doesn't have a sharp dropoff it's possible, but I hope whoever is in the running for MVP by seasons end (whether it's Quentin or not) statistics and actual value are taken over a feel good story and one's ability to hit baseballs far in an exhibition game.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) I remember seeing her in Mannequin as being surprised at how much younger she looked than she was on Golden Girls. Poor sound quality, but you'll get the point. http://youtube.com/watch?v=rED6dt_bsIU

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) Here comes China's big chance to shine on the world stage and they are shooting themselves in the foot at every turn. These actions should only reinforce the fact that China doesn't give a s*** what anyone thinks about them. And really, what is anyone going to do about it? You just don't issue a government order for bars not to admit blacks (and Mongolians) without thinking to yourself, "maybe it wouldn't be in our best interests to do something like this when we're hosting THE OLYMPICS."

Late afternoon edition of chat. Only one inning left, so get in there.

Terrible. Quite possibly the worst movie ever created. This includes Strange Wilderness. I had to remind myself it was Heath Ledger playing joker and not some retard with makeup on.

Item 15 and 16 really can't possibly be exclusive to Chicagoans. Also, and I'm sure many of our posters will agree, people outside of Calumet City (and even then I'm sure it's not very common) don't speak similar to the Superfans SNL skit. The one exception is frunchroom, which I've heard quite a few times. The references to places are true, though.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) I hope you have a kick-ass bass player. And a replacement guitar player for the one that dies of an overdose. Oh, and several more after that.

UH OH. We're in trouble whenever Liriano returns, and he's anywhere NEAR pre-surgery levels. Which, admittingly, may never occur. Still no sign of our Lirano, though.
