Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) He said from a health perspective ESPN did a good job taking it out of context, then. Although, even from a health perspective, does that sound right CF would be the least harmful on someone's body? You'll still need to run and possibly dive in RF/LF, and I would think you'd only be doing more of it in CF.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) Yeah, like I'm going to do that research. Several outlets said PODS in CF, A-row in LF. I'm just saying. And for that Gomez fielding at the Cell comment before, that was probably the most wicked bending ball to center i've ever seen. NOBODY couldve read that one. I don't think they did, and its pretty much your sole of example of why Griffey may not be in CF -- despite Williams confirming it. Rowand was considered around here to be a Gold Glover in CF, why in the hell would he be moved to LF for Podsednik?

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) A player that covers ground really well will get better reads and thus cover even more ground in center than he would in the corner spots because the break of a ball is sometimes almost unpredictable and much more severe at the corner spots at that high of a level of baseball. And....that would suggest your best defensive outfielders are in CF because of those exact reasons -- they possess speed and an ability to read the ball well off the bat. Again, lets think about this -- Jermaine Dye is our RFer. Would you put him in CF? If not, then explain why and then ask yourself why he is in RF. This shouldn't even be up for debate. I thought we were smarter than this, Soxtalk.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) i never said any of them is easy. I just said that LF and RF tend to be more difficult. I've tried fielding balls during batting practice and while I'm a decent athlete I didn't have a chance reading the balls off the bat correctly. This is just from your experience, which I'm sorry to say is wrong. CF is the most difficult OF position to field and there shouldn't be any debate. Lets just throw Dye or Quentin in CF and see what happens. Remember Mackowiak, or Podsednik? They were LFers who failed miserably in CF.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) He's not going to force a player to play a below average position just because he said so to the media. Pods was slated for CF the day they traded for him as well, and where did he play? Find some articles suggesting that, because I doubt that was the plan. Rowand just came off a .900 OPS season in 2004 as our CF, and considering how Lee (our LF) was dealt for Podsednik, I'd say he was slated for LF from day one.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
Anyone hear Williams quotes concerning this trade? ESPN had a quick segment from him where he said CF is the easiest of the positions to field. There's something wrong with someone who belives that. And no, I don't believe he was "purposely doing this to deceive the media" or any other excuse some of you may come up with.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
Well, this trade should do wonders for drawing in the bandwagon fans. They'll turn on the TV and think, "OMG, we got Griffey" and probably buy his jersey; not knowing this may be his last season with the White Sox. Also, on a more offensive note, it's good to have another brutha in the clubhouse. I know Joe Morgan agrees.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) If it's for two insignificant minor leaguers, I like the deal. Griffey Jr. is on a 14 game hitting streak. And when you're insignificant in our system, you're REALLY insignificant.

I hope Konerko leaves just so I can irritate everyone by acting excited about his departure and completely ignoring everythign he did for the 05' team.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:24 AM) Konerko is not washed up. I think he is still hurt and you'll see him go on the DL when this deal goes through. You don't see a drop off like this at 32. He should use some of that 12 million to find a good supplier of HGH. Otherwise, him and his wittle owie on his hand can sit on the DL for the remainder of the season. Konerkos DL stinct prior to now didn't seem to do any good. Platooning him obviously won't help, either.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
What the hell is taking so long for everything to come out? Jesus Christ it's annoying. Doesn't the score have people that can atleast contact White Sox management and find out a thing or two about the prospects or what the hell is going on with the logjam of slow in our lineup.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:53 AM) And I am starting to feel a Konerko to the DL thing happening. Griffey is DH insurance. ...and when Konerko returns from the DL? May as well tell him to go home for the season if we're not having any corresponding moves.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) I can't imagine KW giving up Fields for just Griffey. No way. I'll f***ing lose it if Fields leaves. I'd just have to assume they're hearing what they want to hear because with Crede unavailable and Uribe the only person available for 3B we wouldn't risk it. And yeah, what's the damn holdup on information coming out? I hate waiting for everything.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
HAHA, if Beane were to acquire Swisher for Street he'd really be pulling a fast one one Williams. Trade him for several prospects while his value is high and then acquire him while its low. Is Kenny an idiot? I also hate the idea of Griffey Jr. on the White Sox. Even if we give up nothing, he'll still -- more than likely -- be patrolling the OF. He's made of f***ing glass. What the Cincinnati fan posted earlier concerning his defense is correct. Why can't Williams see this? It's only appropriate we'd include another slow footed slugger into a lineup full of.........slow footed sluggers.

SEE, LOOK! Konerko hit a hard out to CF!! He's coming out of his slump, don't take him out of the lineup now!

7/30 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm WCIU)
Soon, Hawk and the rest of Konerkos superfans will only have the moral support of "well, atleast he hit the ball" to keep themselves going.

Floyd's fastball has great movement tonight. First strike to young dove back to the plate at 94mph.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) Why is PK playing, i thought he was mentally midgeted He had two good Abs yesterday. I mean that seriously and sarcastically. It'll be funny if Konerko goes 0-game and someone brings up yesterday to suggest maybe he's coming out of it. Of course, completely ignoring today.

Konerko to "get some rest for awhile"
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) And benching him for the time being is the way for him to show you this? No, you just judge him over a series of two/three games. I don't care if it's unfair, either. If he's 0-8, 2 GIDP and 3 K's over the stretch then you bench him for several days. Otherwise, what determines whether he stays around?

Konerko to "get some rest for awhile"
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 11:19 AM) Nobody commenting on the fact that Konerko hit the ball pretty hard last night in a couple of at-bats, eh? Great, he hit safely and had a moral victory (line out) in one game. Now let's see him string together four/five consecutive, multi-hit games. That's the only way I'll consider him out of his slump.
