  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) The tragic number is 2 after tonight. Even Rudy from the Notre Dame movie would play the kids after tonight. They won't do it because Detroit, the division leader, is coming into town and our meat and potato, blue collared fans saved a lot of unemployment money to come to these games! God forbid they can't watch Buehrle pitch one more time, even though they had all year to do exactly that.
  2. That's the worst call I've seen in a long time. No where close to the zone.
  3. It was obvious from pitch one Buehlre didn't have it. The fact we're throwing him out there for the fans is ridiculous. I can't see any other reason he'd be pitching aside from some feeling within the coaching staff not to give up on the season. I'm sure there's someone saying, "these fans paid a lot of money to come out here, they should see Mark pitch." Of course Buehrle is not going to admit he's incapable of pitching at full strength. After tonight, this should be his last start of the season. This next inning, I want him to give up 10 runs on 10 pitches. Get him out of there as soon as possible. This season is well done.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) I disagree on this. Professional baseball players already know how to hit, they already know how to perform the task, they wouldnt be in the mlb if they didnt. The problem is that each hitter is unique, and for most of them it is their uniqueness that makes them great. No one will hit like Frank Thomas, it wasnt the hitting coach that made him. Walkers job is to prepare the hitters, and I believe that he is doing that. I just dont believe the Sox are filled with players who actually care to listen. And that is an indictment of the players, not the coaching staff. So what you're suggesting here is that Walker does his job in preparing hitters for upcoming pitchers (and that's certainly important); yet the players on our team just don't listen? Now when you consider that only a few players (Dye, maybe Podsednik, Wise) will not return in '10, and maybe an additional player unknown as of now will be traded, we're going to have a large percentage of this seasons roster here for 2010. What's the purpose of having him around? You know what, if the players are going to ignore the hitting coach I'd rather it be someone else. I'm tired of Walker. Even if absolutely nothing changes, it'll atleast be another name. It's like the whole Anderson issue. It was at the point where whether people believed he was mistreated by Guillen, or was nothing more than a 4th OF, I just wanted him gone so I didn't have to hear his name anymore. Let us build resentment for another hitting coach.
  5. I don't need a legitimate reason not to want Walker around. I hate his face, I hate his name, and whenever he talks I black out because my mind can't comprehend his redneck dialect. Get rid of him. SSI also seems to dislike him, so that's the only reason I need.
  6. Unless this radar gun is off, Buehrle is throwing WELL below his usual velocity of 85-87 mph. I'm seeing 80mph fastballs and looping sliders in the 70s.
  7. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) post some pics with your shirt off so i can tell if it was you i saw wearing the shirt from two posts above
  8. Black tshirt, eh? Wasn't this the one? If so, that was definitely you!
  9. Great, now run more run then kick on the third down. Don't need any slippery hands or feet botching the play.
  10. Go do your thing now Cutler.
  11. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) I can think of no better honor for our soldiers than a playing surface that is a complete piece of s***. Thanks, Park District. U2 needed their giant space ship contraption!
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) The field is crap as usual. No one else is slipping. Olsen got excited, forgot how to move his feet, and looked like an idiot in the endzone.
  13. QUOTE (Stocking @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) lol. f***ing Wise He's just being aggressive! Guillen loves that!
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) when you blitz everyone, you must at least get to the qb and make him move around Sure, but what good is it when you go full speed, the qb does a simple juke, you fly by, and he still has time to make a completion? Ben may be mobile in comparison with other qb's, but he's not Vick quick. I'd understand if the qb was quick and you're just trying to anticipate his moves.
  15. Few things irritate me more than a Bears defender running full speed at a player, and that person just moving slightly and our guy running right past them. Ben just moved a foot to his left. You'd think playing football for such a long time they'd teach these guys about centering up the defender is more important than speed alone. Especially when it's a quarterback back peddling out of the pocket.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) catch the f***ing ball olsen. 2nd god damn time in 2 weeks he's cost us a drive Nothing more obvious than someone afraid to take a hit. He doesn't quite understand the idea that you can either move your feet, or catch the ball, can't do it at the same time.
  17. Awesome. Glad we had a player who probably hasn't bunted in game since God knows when give up two strikes, with two on, no outs, and in the 4TH INNING! This is just terrible.
  18. Are you f***ing kidding me with having Flowers bunt?
  19. I don't have video to compare with, but does Peavy's delivery seem different to anyone else? When I first watched him this inning what instantly stood out was his release point, and how it appeared to be at a lower plane than what I've been accustomed to seeing.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) Nix 2b Beckham 3b Pierzynski c Konerko 1b Ramirez ss Dye rf Quentin lf Rios cf Flowers DH 2010 here we come! I'd like to see Dye batting 7th or 8th before this season is done. I know 9th is unrealistic, if only for his 'veteran pride,' but I'd like to see him continue to look terrible and embarrass himself. If we're going to play him consistently, despite his inability to field or hit (and him having NO place in our future plans), may as well get some comedy out of it.
  21. QUOTE (beck72 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Two guys who should pitch in late inning set up should be Carrasco and Dan Hudson. With the sox bringing back Freddy, Hudson would be a good late inning option. I see Hudson as a Philip Hughes type of pitcher who could come in, air it out for one, perhaps two innings, and if a starting pitcher's arm falls off/is ineffective he could be available to replace him. I've always been one to believe if a starting pitcher prospect isn't starting for the majors he should be in the minors, but really, it's not as if there are other options for our bullpen. Jenks just isn't worth his salary.
  22. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) Tyler Perry is a comedic genius. My tivo is filled up with Tyler Perry's House of Payne and meet the browns (need to make room for the cleveland show). kind of pisses me off when the sox are on WCIU because i dont get to watch house of payne. anybody else really enjoy his shows? Are you a brother by any chance? I've never liked his shows, yet again, I don't like most sitcoms.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) You'd almost wish Jermaine would have said he had a sore back so he wouldn't have to play at all this month. I'd rather have Danks up here even if he's not ready. All he had to do was poke a hit there, any hit. Wow. No, I'd rather have Dye doing exactly what he's doing now, and that's just look terrible and fall apart in front of everyone. That way, there's no doubt about bringing him back in ANY form (such as DH). It's team for his ass to go somewhere else.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) How are 2003 Konerko and 2009 Rios not similar? Both had seasons that were completely outliers to their normal stats. I know you werent here in 2002, but most people wanted to give away Konerko for free on this board. I wanted Konerko traded to the Dodgers for some combination of Mota, and Miller or Jackson.
