  1. That's all on Youk. You attempt to block a base with your knee you deserve to get spiked.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Did you honestly need that stat in the first place to tell you that the bullpen isn't all that good? Yes. I didn't know until joesaiditstrue told me. I've been listening to jphat.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) That's a misleading stat. What about games where the starter was pulled in the 4th and the bullpen only gave up 1 more run the rest of the way? I'd call that a good job by the bullpen. How misleading do you really think it is? Ok, so maybe instead of 20 it's 16 or 17. It's still suggestive of a terrible bullpen. And when you consider the games where the starters went 7-8 innings, and all the bullpen had was 3 - 6 outs, it shouldn't change your mind.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) Don't kid yourself. Think about it for a minute before making a reactionary statement. I joined around when you did too. The negative attitude of this board has multiplied tenfold since mid-2006. It's not reactionary. If anything it was worse because back then there was no limit to what we could say about other posters and players. You ever think that the negativity of this board has increased because maybe the number of members has increased since 2003? Six more years is going to bring a lot more posters. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?&a...only=&st=20 After the first two pages there are a lot of 2004, 2005 members.
  5. According to joesaiditstrue in the chat, the White Sox bullpen has done the following since the All-Star break: In the last 35 games, the bullpen has given up atleast one run in 20 of them. Williams has a lot of problems ahead of him.
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) As long as this attitude permeates the fan base, we will never win another world series. You can only hear "you suck" so many times before you buy into it and thats all this team heard all season long. With the attitude of our fan base, I'm amazed this team is over .500 as is.....they overperformed when you face the facts. However, if they were supported day in and day out, they would likely be 20-25 games over .500 at this time (and about ready to clinch a playoff spot) I can only assume you attempt at acting like a baseball retard is a joke. If not, all I can say is the attitude existed on Soxtalk well before 2005. I was on this board towards the end of the 2003 season, and it was no different than now. Even in the fall of 2005 when the lead over Cleveland was shrinking many (including myself) were negative, yet they prevailed anyway. We make no difference.
  7. Do we even care anymore?
  8. We're unwilling to win a game against Boston, despite them begging us to do so, yet we're going to win in New York and Minnesota? hahahaha Please Detroit, win your game tonight and get this "race" over with.
  9. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) I can't speak for you personally (as I don't analyze every post on this board) but I've seen an incredible amount of negativity on this site all season long (although its peaked recently). I really think this team has the talent to dominate baseball.....but the negativity of this fan base has destroyed the attitude of the team. This team (and almost every team in all sports) needs positive energy to reach its potential and Sox fans as a whole have provided very little of it this season. Explain to me how the positive energy of this board will effect the team. Is this something one person can bring up? Let's give it a try: GO WHITE SOX!!! NEVER GIVE UP, I'LL ALWAYS BELIEVE!!!! YES, 2005 WAS AWESOME AND IT'LL HAPPEN AGAIN! WE SHOULD KEEP BRINGING IT UP!!!! WWWWHHIIIITEEEE SOOOOOXXXXX!!! Positive energy has returned.
  10. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) I don't know how you guys expect this team to play any better.....when they come on this board every day and read comment after comment about how much they suck......how do you expect them to perform? It would be nice once to see White Sox fans actually support the team and give them a boost instead of tearing them apart and saying they have no chance to win.
  11. "It's up to Scott Linebrink to hold them," Steve Stone. MWAHAHAHAHAH. This team is playing like they know they're done.
  12. If we lose this game after Boston has given us two gift runs, I'll be just as upset as last night. Just as you can't spoil a high offensive game, you can't spoil a good performance from Garcia and the other team basically giving you the lead.
  13. It looks like we're watching the White Sox play the White Sox these last two plays.
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) I want Becks to get back to hitting line drives and going gap to gap. Becks has been a bit pull happy lately. http://mike.westernave.net/chat/chatroom.html
  15. Hahahahahhahahah Pods.
  16. Chat members, assemble. http://mike.westernave.net/chat/chatroom.html
  17. Garcia is going to pitch five innings no matter what. If it's ugly early he's still going to be out there taking one for the bullpen. It's interesting because Garcia has had success overall against the Red Sox lineup, but this is the 2009 White Sox and even if he does pitch well i'd expect Lester to dominate us. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost 3-2.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) With this ideal in mind, no one is allowed to have an off year. Beleive it or not these are people. They have slumps and difficulties. Some the public know about, others such as injuries, we don't. You don't earn the respect of grown men by intimitading them into playing well. If anything baseball is a sport that if you are too wound up you play poorly. If a player is truly giving 100% effort you can demote them but you don't treat them like crap. My issue here is, sure, proven veteran deserve to hit out of slumps; but they shouldn't be hitting out of slumps at spots in the order where production is crucial, such as the third or fourth. With Dye, especially, it's inexcusable that after 100+ ABs of sub .200, sub .600 ops production out of our #3 hitter he was finally moved. If these guys are grown men, surely they understand that when you're not producing (and not just over a week, but a month), you should be moved down in the lineup.
  19. Half Irish (Mom's side) and Half Czech.
  20. If true, this even surprises me. I'd thought they'd give him a start in New York, then after they inevitably destroy him, place Contreras in the bullpen because he's a proud veteran pitcher who has had proven success in the past.
  21. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Jermaines gonna make it real easy on KW in the offseason We should be thankful Dye's defense hasn't been a factor in this game. I've been waiting for Boston to hit a few balls in the RF corner and have it roll around for a triple. I guess there will be plenty of opportunities for that the remaining three games.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) it's a really stupid "tradition" if you ask me. I stood there in the stands and just looked at people like, why? For us, it'd be like if the White Sox played "Dont Stop Believing" at every game since the 2005 World Series. It'd sure annoy the hell out of me.
  23. It looks like Pena is throwing some sort of changeup. He threw a few to Youk that looked great. It sure wasn't his typical hanging slider.
  24. For throwing 99 mph Bard sure hasn't missed many bats. If he could locate his offspeed pitches he'd be amazing.
  25. With night's like tonight I seriously can't put my mind around this team exiting the road trip with anything more than 3 wins. Even when our offense is on, like tonight, we'll have to worry about the starting pitching AND the bullpen. Thornton can't pitch every game, and neither can Floyd. We'll have to worry about Buehrle pitching like a man again, Danks' finger, and whatever the hell Garcia will provide tomorrow. Speaking of Garcia, expect him to pitch 5 innings no matter what. It could very well be another 10+ run game.
