Looks like the embarrassment from yesterday has carried over to today. -
Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) I'd love to see what Coop could do with Rios. Put him in this ballpark and watch him take off. Oh, now Cooper is our hitting coach too? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) I think he has one AB since Kotsay got here, and that was the PH last night. His ride off of the perfect game catch has nearly ended as it is. Acquiring Rios would be the end of him. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) It isn't the offense that is killing me. He looked like someone paid him to throw the series, in the field. Physical mistakes, mental mistakes... Alexei would have looked down on him. Dye has been turning singles into doubles and doubles into triples for several seasons now. He looks awkward going to either his right or left, has absolutely no makeup speed, and even his arm has deteriorated to some girly side arm throwing style. I know people talk about him as a future DH, but if he is, I don't believe we'll retain him over Thome. Not with Thome still producing at an acceptable rate, and within reach of #600. If he continues doing what he has done with the White Sox, it's not unreasonable that he'd hit #600 by September of next season. After then we'll cut him.

I don't remember this board being in this good of a mood...

You know what would make me happy? Going to the Metrodome and not hearing the embarrassing comments which come out of Hawk and Soxtalk concerning the stadium. It's f***ing pathetic listening to people blaming everything on a the dome. And it irritates me watching games because our players become little women there. They believe the stories of vengeful baseball gods living in the bowels of the HHH dome, and as such, consider no lead safe and every misplay or opportunity wasted as a "here we go again" moment. -
Good. I hope he never returns. He's useless in my mind with Peavy here and Torres and Hudson as fifth starter options when Contreras begins to literally fall apart. I only wish Garcia would also disappear so we won't have to endure his 87 mph fastball and preferential treatment from Guillen.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) Are you s***ting me? I almost expected to blink and end up in the Metrodome, with Hawk going off about the Dome Goblins.

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) What happened? A little kid either was grazed by a bat or was scared by it being hurled in his direction. He was huffing and puffing, his shame on screen for everyone to laugh at.

CHANGE DANKS' DIAPER COOP!

It seems you have to beat yourself to score less than five runs off of Santana. Thus far, that's exactly what we've done.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Attempting to Steal 3rd base with a Lefty up in the box is dumb unless you are Carl Crawford or the catcher is AJ. http://mike.westernave.net/chat/chatroom.html

Danks is pitching like a p****. After what you team does you come out and deliver that on the FIRST PITCH?
-
EMBARRASSING.
-
I want a pledge from everyone on Soxtalk -- dont make any excuses if we cant score less than five runs off of Santana. He's terrible. Please, just avoid it.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) Torres looked servicable against Tampa and the first start jitters should be gone. Hudson will have all of this stuff to work through. I'd also like to see if Torres does ok for him to stay up until Peavy is ready and then stay with the team through September. The starters could use that extra day I would think which they will not be getting if they skip the number 5 spot. What exactly does Hudson have to work on in the minors, though? That's the issue for me. And if this idea of overcoming first start jitters were true, well, lets throw up Hudson and get his out of the way too so he can dominate. People are just transfixed with prospects and this idea of them progressing bit by bit, year by year. Sure, if a player needs to work on some aspect of their game against increasing competition this is the set standard, but if they're already put together (as Beckham was) then what use is there in the minors? Then, even when they're ready, it seems to be a collective feeling among fans that every other option should be explored before doing what's right. Yes, not everyone is Beckham; but Hudson doesn't appear to be challenged -- so why delay him? Our organization obviously doesn't believe much more time is needed if they've promoted him so far, so quickly. I don't see what Charlotte can possibly do for his development. What's the worst that can happen with Hudson, that he's terrible? Ok, then demote him after. If he's any type of man he wont fall apart in the minors upon returning. He'll learn from his mistakes. I'd honestly rather try Hudson and risk whatever he brings than stick with Torres. This goal here should be putting the best option on the mound, and we all know what that is.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) ESPN 1000 is reporting that Don Cooper hinted at Peavy starting a rehab assignment early next week and needing "about 3 starts" before he's ready. Bring up Hudson. I'd rather take my chance with him than Torres, and Carrasco needs to be around the bullpen in case Hudson falls flat.

Outstanding. Let's celebrate the chat's return with a mid afternoon box social.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) I believe Buffet negotiated with the place and said there will be tailgating or I wont play there. Actually I'm positive thats what happened. You're correct, but even with the concessions Buffet's people didn't like Tinley Park's facilities or its location. That's the main reason he decided to move his act to Bridgeview. And for the record, Buffet's a great guy, but the people working for him are some of the biggest assholes you'd ever encounter. I work for Toyota Park, where two of his concerts were held last season (as will two this year), and his security detail actually forced several of our companies employees home because of trivial "mistakes." Apparently, they -- and every other musician -- own the park and have the power to enforce such actions. One of his main security guards told our employees stationed outside Buffet's dressing room that they weren't allowed to make eye contact with must keep their eyes fixated in the floor when Jimmy leaves to perform. When Buffet shook one person's hand he was sent home for making eye contact. It's ridiculous how they run it.
