  1. Didn't we create a thread like this last year too? Someone find that thread, because I'm pretty sure I used the song "Won't Get Fooled Again."
  2. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) this spam is getting ridiculous. can a head admin at least ban this clown? I agree. Ban him.
  3. BRING HIM BACK AS A COACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) It would be much easier to live with the play of this team if it was only the young players at new positions making the errors, and if I didn't have to watch Contreras and Linebrink take the mound. One quick question BTW: Does anyone else see parallels between the Cotts start in old Yankee Stadium and the Contreras start this year in the new Yankee Stadium? Going into both games I had the same feelings: the manager had really f***ed up, there were better options, and the game was being forfeit. I wonder if we'll look back on this game as the one where the season pretty much ended. The difference is the other options aside from Contreras were Torres and Hudson, whereas Buehrle could have started in place of Cotts. Although I don't really believe you'll have to wait until the end of the season to declare this our swan-song game. Especially if Detroit loses. I'm actually glad we had this roadtrip at this point in the year. Boston and New York have quickly put us in our place; which only leads Minnesota ready to deliver the knockout punch. Then 2009 will be gawn.
  5. We'll see in the upcoming games whether they've quit, but as far as today, they definitely threw it in after the Yankees 4 run second inning.
  6. In typical, "just doing enough to keep you attached" 2009 White Sox, they'll probably sweep the Twins in the dome. Everyone on the team will be playing with no expectations and seemingly no pressure (since we'll be more than 5 out). Additionally, the fear of the dome goblins will be greatly diminished since it will be our final appearance there.
  7. Did I just see a suicide shrug out of Beckham? Please, don't ever do that again.
  8. Also, the games on now. Kyyle failed by informing all of you it starts at 7:10.
  9. QUOTE (forrestg @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) Remembering Dye before he signed his last contract. Did he not just mope around and then after he signed he got out of his funk. Presently, with him doing as bad as he is in the second half perhaps 500,000 a year for a two year deal with incentives. The last time before he got his last contract he was hitting just like he is now. To his credit he can really blister the ball when he knows where he'll be and that the checks will be coming . I'm like that but to a much smaller scale 1/1000th. That sounds like quite the risk to take, giving Dye a contract (one that he'll take as an insult at 500K, even with incentives) because after his last one he miraculously came out of his slump.
  10. Aside from all the "proven veteran" reasons that Dye won't be benched for an extended period of time, remember, he's playing for perhaps his final contract. I just don't believe Dye would idly sit by, even if he's hitting .100 the remainder of the season, and allow millions to potentially be thrown away for the sake of this team. Just think, a good September from Dye compared to his current state of comatose could be a significant difference come salaries next season.
  11. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) You have to wonder if any heads would roll if it was an 0-fer road trip. You know what I'm happy about? It's that if we're atrocious the remainder of this road trip (and I don't see why we wouldn't be), there should be NO excuses. What contributing player aside from Peavy was on the DL the final 40 games? EVERYONE is here. We're not the Mets. There will be no one to blame but ourselves.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) f*** it - i'm going with an epic 0-fer road trip. At this point, why not? We all know we're going to lose three at the Metrodome, so why not just add in the Yankees (and that single Cub game) as losses too and make sure no one is fooled into believing this team can compete for a division title. Even in this s*** division.
  13. Are we sure Dye doesn't have this? Someone should check.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Yes it is. /does math f***.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Stone was in playgirl, all the ladies love him. Yeah, that was the time awhile back when people assumed women bought Playgirl. Now we know better.
  16. That matchup reminds me of Jenks battling Bagwell when everyone, including Jeff, knew a high fastball was coming and that he wouldn't be able to hit it. It was sad watching it then, and it's sad watching it now with Thome.
  17. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) Let's get rid of that guy! If Podsednik not hitting that home run meant he was released after the game, I'd accept it and take the loss. It's not even as if Podsednik is a terrible player, there are certainly worse on this team, I'm just tired of looking at him. He can continue his career somewhere else. It doesn't even matter to me who the leadoff hitter will be as long as it's not him. We all have to move on.
  18. Eh, we all know how this will go down. Bottom of the inning our bullpen will give back the winning run.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) So how many games are we away from having a protected slot in the draft? We're 15th now, so we're currently protected. After this road trip we should have more breathing room.
  20. Hawk: "he just missed that one." HE HIT THE f***ING BALL 20 FEET!
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) Even a game where the starter goes 6 and the pen gives up 1, still makes an era of 3.00. I know the pen hasn't been good, but that is a terrible stat. We're talking about the bullpen, not the staff as a whole. If the bullpen goes three inning and gives up 1 run, their earned run average is not 3.00.
  22. Get Pena warming. If Floyd can't pitch without discomfort he shouldn't be in much longer. The future means more than this game, in this (more than likely) useless season.
