  1. Good, she pooped out the baby. Congrats. Not get back to work, Thornton.
  2. Anyone else believe they're only keeping Wise around to limit the public outrage (among the baseball stupid and media) for not showing respect to the player who saved the perfect game? At this point, with having acquired Kotsay, there is NO reason to keep Wise on the roster. Every passing day is just a mistake, and would only prove to me they're purposely extending time between last Thursday and whenever they designate Wise for assignment.
  3. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:33 AM) After Josh's 2007 season,I thought we had a 3rd baseman that would step in and make Joe Crede expendable but alas it hasn't worked out. I still think this kid has a future but probably not with us. I'll tell you one person that should hope Anderson and Fields fail, and that's Walker. I just don't believe the idea that if a player possesses a certain amount of potential, yet has been mediocre for a majority of their big league career (as Fields/Anderson have been), they'll just miraculously begin producing on another team. If this were to somehow occur, the issue will then be they've always had the talent, yet our coaching staff couldn't get it out of either. To me, that's a huge indictment on Walker and whoever else is responsible for talking to these players. If they're succeeding outside of the White Sox, then we should look at ourselves and figure out why.
  4. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) But that Bermuda Triangle thing would be interesting. I've wondered for a while if maybe there is something going on there that is more than simple magnetic anomalies. I recall watching a special on the National Geographic Channel where they discussed a deep trench at a point in the triangle, and if you were to draw a straight line through the planet beginning at that point it would come out to another area of the world (somewhere in Asia) where there have also been anomalies. I believe a lot of the issues with the area have to do with how quickly storms arise. The same show I watched said something to the effect of, one moment you can be staring at a clear blue sky, turn you head for a minute, and when you return your gaze it'll be pitch black beyond the horizon. Far as the story is concerned, I wish they would elaborate on the chase of the humanoid creatures in suits. How exactly did three people die? It sounds to me to be more of a convenient excuse for some diving mishap. I don't know what Russia would have to gain with false allegations, but you figure, with all the deep sea exploration being financed today, and the availability of camera phones to document incidents, if these things exist then surely someone, somewhere, will catch them.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) by injured, you mean not physically, right? Of course....that's...not....what he meant. We all know the angle around here, people never wish for injuries and certainly not to their own terrible/annoying players who we can't stand watching; although everyone would love to see Mauer break his leg and miss the year, or Wise dislocate his shoulder diving for a ball. So yeah, he meant injured emotionally.
  6. Where the f*** was that 2-1 pitch?
  7. You know, for everyone who acts as if leaving the dome will be the end of our problems, who's to say the new stadium wont give us fits as well? I know the turf wont be there, or the ceiling, so people wont have the easy excuses, but if we're still doing poorly I guess someone will have to make up new stories of ghosts and stadium goblins.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) We just can't f***ing play in this dome. They're pussies if they tell themselves they cant win here and let mistakes get to them. It's embarrassing to think they're all professional players used to pressure, yet come here and play like little girls.
  9. Someone PM me the f***ing link already!!!!1111
  10. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 01:26 AM) just off the top of my head... One aspect of hunting is that it helps reduce overpopulation. Over population can increase the spread of diseases such as Chronic Wasting Disease. A disease such as this could have drastic effects on populations in the future. Also, it has the potential to be transmitted to livestock. Overpopulation also has a drastic effect on the ground cover in areas. This can affect many other creatures who then have to deal with less food, in turn, so will the deer and starvation takes place. In addition, a lack of ground cover can lead to erosion and effect the ground water and water ways of the area. These water ways became overrun with silt, sand, and gravel thus destroying natural spawning areas and habitats for fish, frogs and turtles. Also, as mentioned prior in this thread, there a millions of auto collisions with deer each year. For all these reasons, and more, if people like Dye, Buehrle, and others did not hunt, districts would have no choice but to hire sharpshooters to have to reduce the population levels. This costs money. All this costs money. Thats how he an be productive. I am not a hunter, but I am a Natural Resource major. That has already happened on several occasions in my town, which borders a forest preserve. There are too many deer around here. I remember a time 10 years ago you'd rarely see a deer, and now they're common both day and night. I've already hit one with my car, as has my neighbor. Several years ago a deer was hit by a car near my house, still somehow survived, and as it lay twitching a cop had to put a bullet in its head. It becomes a public hazard when there are no known predators around, and these animals freely roam about neighborhoods and multiply without end because of their endless food supply.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) Wait, we don't like Dewayne Wise anymore? I'm just going to file that one under "saw that coming." Luckily I wasn't one of the many on Soxtalk yesterday who said they would never insult Wise again because of one catch.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) So let's just pray KW sell the farm for a sinking ship. In no way am I saying it's sinking, but danger zone could be upon us. BTW, Dan Hudson should be untouchable. As of now, no, but he is a White Sox pitching prospect afterall so that means you can drop 4-5 mph off his fastball and expect fall less break on his pitches than what's reported.
  13. And I'm glad we didn't bother substituting Getz for Quentin in the 9th. No, we wouldn't want him to get on his feet for one AB and possibly several more innings in the outfield.
  14. What the f*** is with these outside strike calls for Rodney? Jesus.
  15. My ass that was a strike.
  16. HERE COMES PENA!!!!
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) We've done less damage tonight against hangers than any game all season. No way. The game against Matt Harrison of the Rangers in May where he hit 4 hit us through 9 innings was the Night of the Hanging Breaking ball. Tonight's close, though.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) The scary thing is there's nothing KW can do to improve this offense at the deadline besides a possible 4th outfielder. Quentin (hopefully) improving will be our addition, and that's better than Williams overpaying for a 4th outfielder.
  19. QUOTE (TheOcho @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Ozzie really wants Colon to get that W It reminds me of Garcia. Something about Latin pride and keeping pitchers out too long for a chance to win.
  20. Look at Prancer jumping all around the plate. What was he expecting, some 105 mph curveball?
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) I would rather give Torres these starts instead of watching this. This is the result of him working for a few weeks? This is bad. Torres was delivering his fair share of flat fastballs and hanging sliders. Although in the beginning of the game he was pinpoint with control. When I watched him pitch, he stuff reminded me of Randy Wells. Same exact repertoire. Even similar motion.
  22. Any ball hit towards Colon and to his left is going to be a hit. He puts himself in terrible fielding position. Luckily we escape it tied.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) PULL HIM! Don't wait for the floodgates to open. We'd be screwed no matter who came in. I wouldn't have much faith in Carrasco grooving some of his signature hanging sliders.
  24. Good throw from Wise. I'll give him that.
  25. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) In the pregame, Farmer stated that Ozzie wanted to start getting Wise more ABs and wanted to have him play both games. We live in a bizarro reality where Wise has some fancy value. We didnt want to put him on waivers, because we were worried that someone was gong to pick him up. What team outside of Newark would say, god that Dewayne Wise is something I need for my team. But he made a catch. So he is here as long as he wants to be. I know it's sacrilegious to think that we'd be better off if Wise hadn't of caught the ball, but think, if his lack of offense were to cause us a few games, wouldn't we have been better off? Buehrle and the Sox still would have won the game. Yet, who knows how much longer Wise will live off this accomplishment and basically act like a pitcher at the plate.
