  1. I happened to notice Padres pitching prospect Matt Latos has made it to the majors. Prior to the 2007 I loved the guy and was hoping he wouldn't accept the Padres offer as a Draft and Follow candidate from 2006. Even though he probably wouldn't have made it to our position in the draft, it's interesting to see a guy I had a man crush on succeed so rapidly. With seemingly little minor league experience.
  2. I hope this doesn't reignite the Beane worshiping again. And let me be clear, the last statement doesn't apply to everyone who admits he's a good general manager, but those who had anointed him as a God nearly 7-8 years ago and made life hell for everyone during their great years. If there's anything I've LOVED about Oakland embarrassing themselves these last several seasons its all the insufferable Beane slurping that I haven't had to read about. The man's name alone is irritating. BEANE. He is invincible, because if the team struggles its "what do you expect him to do with a low payroll," and when he succeeds its "look what he has done with a low payroll!" Also, everyone is complimenting Beane; what about Mozeliak? I'm willing to believe he knows what he has in his former, fat ass prospect drafted only one year ago who's stuck behind Pujols. And when you're in the position of the Cardinals, with World Series aspirations, you can afford to give up obese prospects.
  3. I support boo'ing Jenks just because Greg opposes it. I'd do it right now if I could.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) I hate blacks. Every last one.
  5. HEY EVERYONE, KALAPSE IS IN THE CHAT! http://mike.westernave.net/chat/chatroom.html
  6. I have no reason to justify it, but I think tonight will be one of those few quality Clayton Richard games. He'll do just enough to keep himself in the rotation for another 3-4 s***ty starts. We'll have to all endure the "Remember that game he dominated TB?" talk for another month.
  7. QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) I know Kalapse and Kyle were there, as were a couple of others. Lets get a good one going tonight. I'll be around for sure. I'll be there too.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) Has anyone tried any of the N-O products?? I tried it for a bout two months and I just found it be very speed like. I got a horrible headache and a huge crash after my workouts. I'd have to nap for two hours right after each work out. I did get some really good pumps during my workout, but I saw no permanent size or strength gains. I haven't tried NO products, but from the symptoms you're describing you may have had an overload of protein. I noticed in the past when I took too much in a short period of time I'd feel terrible.
  9. I'll always be one to support the promotion of a player, if no other options are readily available on the ballclub, for no other reason than to observe whether the person can handle the majors. What exactly do we have to lose? And no, I don't want to hear "what if he comes up here and does poorly? It may affect his confidence!" If he were to fail, be sent down, pull a Marquez and embarrass the organization by falling off the planet, then he just doesn't have the balls to pitch in the majors and I don't want him playing for the ballclub. Atleast we'd be finding out sooner rather than later. At this point in his career, what does Torres have to work on that necessitates his stay in the minors? Atleast with Poreda you could have argued his control needed work, or his secondary pitches.
  10. This incident is just disgusting. The lengths some perverts will go to catch a glimpse of a some-what famous woman is amazing. But yeah, if anyone happens to find a video, I'm not going to say which one but it is relevant to this thread, feel free to PM me the link.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) There is your answer. Ozzie is an idiot...but I am just a psychopath, and so is Ozzie, because he doesn't know what's best for the White Sox, apparently. But posters on a message board can see something our own scouts, manager, coaches and front office cannot. Guillen's still an idiot, but I didn't call him a psychopath -- just you. I'm amazed you were able to stay on track without being sidetracked by the odd thoughts running through your mind that make it onto this message board.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) I love this post. The fact he left him in to face Reimold was proof to me that he was sticking it to the fans. Even if that's true, it was his job to perform. So, what happens if he got out of the inning without giving up runs? He'd find himself in more high leverage situation. Guillen wouldn't be able to say anything wrong. Poreda filled up his diaper and it only proved Guillen right.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Well maybe if Ozzie didn't bash him earlier, the kid would have more confidence in himself. That's what pisses me off about Ozzie, he criticizes his own players to the media way too much. There is no need for that type of stuff. Please, dont scapegoat his performance. Even IF it were true, I don't want some spineless little girl pitching for my team who becomes flusters when his manager doesn't kiss his ass. Jesus, it makes you wonder how players functioned 30+ years ago when players were ripped continuously in the media. I want to know if Guillen criticizing Poreda accounting for his 5 mph drop in velocity from the reports in the minors?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Well if you want to prove him wrong, 8 balls in 9 pitches with the bases loaded probably isn't the way to do it. I've defended him through now, but that was embarrassing to watch. He wasn't even CLOSE to the zone; and the one strike was a ball swung at below the knees. I'm sure, if being truthful, he'd say something like he's a starting pitcher, not a reliever, but he has to succeed in any opportunity. And it's not as if he wouldn't encounter a bases loaded scenario as a starter. He was just bad.
  15. Terrible. You only did this to yourself, Poreda.
  16. I know some will say Guillen shouldn't have brought him into this situation, but Poreda was nowhere near the zone that AB. He's not helping himself out. Every pitching opportunity has to be taken advantage of.
  17. Please dont fail Poreda. You wont pitch again until August.

  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Midday Madness in chat? I had to go 4 pages back to find this, wtf Like the Holocaust, never again. let's go.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) After i left college, i became super paranoid about driving after drinking anything. There is just too much to lose anymore, people used to think a DUI was a rite of passage growing up(I hear it is still that way in Texas ), but now it is something that could seriously affect the rest of your life. Ask your parents about how DUI's were treated when they were growing up. My dad was drafted for Vietnam but couldn't go because, a year before the lottery, a drunk driver leaving a bar backed into my dad as he was walking home from work. It tore up his knee. Even though his brother at the time was a Chicago cop, nothing happened because DUI's weren't of any concern to anyone. Although yeah, drinking and driving will ruin your life. It's the stamp of death with any job, from law enforcement to Wal Mart. I'm even reluctant now to post anything offensive on Soxtalk. I found out awhile ago if you Google my name, on Page three of the results is a post I made in 2003 where I included my real name. I fear a future employer would find this, wonder to them self who this Flash Tizzle is, then without much effort come across something ridiculous in the "State your unpopular opinions" thread. Now I just use the chatroom to vent my rage.
  22. It's obviously an achievement to land on the moon, but really, what impact did that have on us, except for the phrase "we land on the moon but we cant (insert thing that hasn't been done)?" Society didn't change at all. If there were such a thing as an impact on society, I'd believe landing on the moon would make Americans even more arrogant. As far as The Beatles, they had other, better albums (I believe) than Abbey Road. Sergeant Peppers, for one. Wal Mart has had a much larger impact on lives than the Beatles or the moon landing.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Ozzie's an idiot? Yes Yes Yes Yes yes Even when you attempt to address my post, you sidetrack it with nonsense. You have to learn to condense your rambling posts. It's like peering into the mind of a psychopath reading you, sometimes. I really dislike this idea people always say of building confidence in a pitcher, like it's some video game where you need to accumulate points to use some special power. Here's an idea -- give him a few starts, let Richard pitch out of the bullpen, and see how different the two act in their roles. Is it really that difficult? Oh, back to work now: Yes Yes.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Ozzie said he isn't ready, and Kenny has already traded the kid. To me that tells me they think they can do better, especially when they are willing to give up 6 years of Poreda. Ozzie's an idiot. It's not that Poreda isn't ready in his mind, it's just that he'd rather go with DJ "Every other f***ing breaking ball I throw is a hanger" Carrasco and his other relievers. It's his personal preference over his judgment of talent. As others have said, if it was up to Guillen he would never have promoted Beckham. Guillen isn't a scout -- it's not his duty to find out if someone isn't ready or not. Williams promoted him, HE thinks he's ready, so it's up to Guillen to find him work. And Williams is an idiot too if his idea of maximizing Poreda's value is leaving him in the majors to pitch out of the bullpen once every week. If it was all about trade value he'd be in Charlotte dominating. Just give the man the opportunity to start. Really, he's not even going to start ONE game? It's becoming ridiculous.
