  1. I agrre with several of the points Mariotti has made about the Sox. As a Sox fan I fell we have gotten a big "go f*** yourself" from this organization. No doubt we deserve better.
  2. Speaking of Black Jack, do any of the posters remember in 91 when Mark Whiten charged McDowell on the mound? Whiten really cleaned Black Jack's clock. He was on Up Close with Roy Firestone later in the week with Jim McMahon type sunglasses.
  3. I agree 100% with this article. While Rosenthal's facts may be inaccurate, the premise of the article is right on target. I challenge any fellow sox fan to convince me that this team is committed to winning. Sadly, I think the worse thing to happen in the past two years is for mid level payroll teams to win the title. Reinsdorf now seems more concerned with pulling a one year hitch ala the Marlins and Angels than seriously acting like he wants the sox to contend annualy.
  4. I agree with everything Mariooti says about the Reinsdorf owned sports teams. I am as die har as any white sox fan, but under his ownership we have only won two playoff games in the last twenty seasons three total. He torpedoed the White Sox's best chance at a world series in recent years when he went hawkish on the players union in 94. He let Jerry "organiztions win champoinships Krause" implode one of the greatest basketball dynasties for a cuple of high school kids and his fishing buddy Tim Floyd. Reinsdorf deserves every arrow of of anger Mariotti fires at him. Perhaps even worse to Sox fans, Reinsdorf seems content to let the sox fall further into oblivion while the tribsters and the casual baseball fans on the northside legitimaly are attempting to win a title while die hards like us are left feeling as though are interest in the white sox is meaningless because we criticize Reinsdorf and his assanine moves. more power to mariotti
  5. I did not hear that kellerman left. Staboy is a stroke. It is like the replacement Bo and Luke on the Dukes of Hazzard. It is a sad day for devoted Around the Horn Watchers.
  6. Definetly Karkovice. He was one of the best defensive catchers in the AL circa late 80s early 90s. Excellent bunter as well as decent pop. Good enough to put Pudge 72 in LF (Thanks GM Hawk) Several Players on the 1990 team Fletcher- Eric King, King pitched a 3-0 shutout against Oakland in early June 1990 in Oakland. Made me know the Sox were for real that year. One-Dog steady in CF homer in the 93 playoffs. Floyd Bannister, caught fire in second-half of 83 and really solidified the rotation. He also later brought us Melido Perez and I think Greg Hibbard in a trade with KC in the 87-88 offseason.
  7. Only three prospects on the list is not a good sign for the future. Milwaukee appeares to be loaded. It would be good for another competitive team to play in the Midwest market. keep in mind while this fan is obviously knowledgable, he is not a scout, and has never worked in player development, not that scouts and player development personnel are always correct. Maggs was left exposed in the Rule V draft in 1996. His views and analysis techniques seem to be similar to John Sickels.
  8. Worst trade George Bell for Ken Patterson and Sammy Sosa How about Kip Wells and Josh Fogg for Todd Ritchie Anybody think Wells would help solidify the rotation this year? Best Lamarr Hoyt for Ozzie Guillen Marte for Matt Guerrier Wison Alvarez andd Sammy Sosa and Scott Fletcher for Harold Baines
  9. Congratulations Frank!
  10. I am awfully sick of teams thinking that a new stadium will allow them to compete. If San Diego takes on Kendall's contract with Giles they will still suck. A new stadium is rarely tha answer. What good did it do for Pittsburgh, Milwaukee anhjd (gulp) Detroit. New stadium or not a franchise that is run horses***, is just a horses*** franchise in a nice stadium.
  11. Yes ESPN is based in Connecticut. That is the heart of the Red Sox-Yankee rivalry. Since ESPN controls sports mass media they have constructed a unfair proportion of highlights.Living in the NorthEast I have noticed the views on both teams. We are supposed to fell sorry for the Red Sox and see them as hardluck losers. Movies like GoodWill-Hunting further romanticize the east coast bias. When the Robin Williams describes the Game # 6 in 1975 W.S. Well,m I hate the Yankees, but I cannott feel sorry for the RedSox either. A team with that kind of payroll should have won at least one title by now. So f*** them too.
  12. It seems throughout this season everytime we have come close to getting thye momentum we hit the skidz or choke late in the game. The Koch gopher ball to Crawford in Tampa, the Garland 1-0 loss to San Diego, the late game choke on the northside when we were going for the sweep, and thye Colon Giants game when Aurillia hit a grannie. Seeing as how no one on this board unless they were born before 1917 has ever actually seen the White Sox win a playoff series and watching the late momentum killing loss I am wondering on the users views on our upcoming 6 game stretch, at KC and Seattle. a 1-5 mark on the trip would essentially put us right back where we were before this streak.
