http://www.suntimes.com/output/deluca/cst-spt-deluca122.html Thoughts? I personally don't think it's too bad of an idea. Though i'd wait until we get back home after this weekend.

my friends think i'm crazy because i CAN'T play videogames for an extended period of time. I'll play 1 MVP/NCAA/Madden game and that'll be it for me usually.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) Madden has actually received significantly lower review scores this year than previous years, with many reviews citing that little to no changes or upgrades have taken place. In my opinion, this has always been the case for many sports series, including Madden (I still can't fathom how people will literally trip over each other every year in a rush to pay $50 for practically the same game they already own, except for a roster update, five new animations, and a new bobble head mini-game), but it looks as if EA has taken it to new heights. Knowing that they have virtually no competition, they can get away this scott free, and this looks to be the case for the next five years. I wouldn't be surprised if EA is already cutting development costs on next year's version, sadly. well they've lost one madden customer in me this year. I've bought every ps2 version from 2001-2005, this year just isn't worth it.

QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) Just went and bought it tonight at Wal Mart. Is pretty cool. First disk is a history of the team from when they were the Staleys up until beating the Packers last year. Disk two is all about the '85 Season how much is it?

QUOTE(effectivelywild @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) So. As a stathead, I'm checking out ESPN.com's poll for the most overrated statistic, and, having moved to Chicago recently and falling for the Pale Hose, wanted to get y'all's opinion on the issue. For offense (ranked by position in ESPN poll at the moment) Home runs OPS (On-base + slugging) RBI Stolen Bases Batting Average For pitching, the stat that is trusted most is ERA Opponents' batting average K to BB ratio Wins I think it's a worthwhile query welcome to soxtalk and if we're limited to those choices batter: stolen bases pitcher: wins

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Judging from previous history with a family member working for that organization, I'd pass on that opportunity. can you give me some more details on that?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Tex, you've never called a friend gay before jokingly? I know I've ton it plenty of times, he was joking with one of his friends everyone does it. He didn't do anything wrong, the media is making something out of absolutely nothing. yes, it's a normal thing for friends to say amongst friends, but not when the media is present. Ozzie is the leader of a major league ballclub and he has to think about what he says, he still hasn't learned this.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Is everybody just missing the fact that our manager got fooled by the hidden ball trick 3 f***ing times? That's pathetic... let's fire him

we can turn this thread into something. what were your childhood vacations like? mine: my dad would take me and my brother up to our grandma's cottage in sister's lake, michigan. Usually our aunts/uncles/cousins would go up on the same weekend. Cottage on a lake, sounds cool right? Wrong. No boat, no ski's, no tube's, and no parent that wanted to rent one for us. You couldn't play in the sand because we would bring it into the house. If you went into the lake, you couldn't come back inside for hours because you might get something wet. Long story short, it was the typical "grandma house", where you weren't allowed to do anything, except it was on a lake where every other house was fun. go at it.
