  1. I'll be saving up money for the rest of this month and august. Going to the game w/ keith on saturday ^, but that might be it for the summer before school starts up again, unless i run into free tickets somewhere. I can guarantee we'll be driving back from champaign at the chance of clinching......and playoff tickets are a must for me. Like someone else said. Can i afford it? no Can i affort not to go? no
  2. Cardinals (many reasons) and Blue Jays (gf lives near toronto...very likeable team as well)
  3. man, i'm having so much fun with this game and the sliders i posted. i'm 4-3 w/ the illini. Losing to mich. st, INDIANA , and losing a heartbreaker to penn st. Suprise W: Iowa. Tate couldn't complete a pass to save his life. PT is averaging around 5 YAC, leading the big 10 in rush TD's. My passing game is in shambles.
  4. i've seen him on comedy central a few times, pretty funny. too many good comedians go way too early
  5. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Questions... 1. Still can't figure out how to bring down the passing icons and run with the QB. Anyone? 2. What does the word "pipeline" mean next to the player's city and state in the In-Season recruiting? 3. Typically, how many in-season recruits commit to you out of the 12 targeted? 1. You don't have to bring down the icons just year, just press x (to sprint) and run like you would with a HB. 2. If a recruit is in your pipeline, you have a better shot of getting him, like illinois has bordering states as their pipeline. While nebraska has just about everywhere as their pipeline. Not sure how it works, but i know you have a better shot at them. 3. 3-5
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Shingo has done good and I think the team that gets him will be getting a quality reliever. At the same time he won't be around next year and Ozzie doesn't seem to have confidence in him. As the last guy in the pen I'm just as happy with Jenks as I would be with Shingo. I like Jenks upside and I'm assuming if they do keep him he's fitting in the clubhouse nicely. Plus the Sox should be able to get a decent piece for Shingo that could help them via a trade or help them later on down the road (if it is a 5th starter) if Duque goes down again. I could even see Shingo dealt for a AAA lefty reliever to give the Sox some options as an insurance if Marte goes down again. you're right. Shingo hasn't been terrible, but there's not a place for him in our pen right now. All he was doing was mop up duty lately, we have vizcy for that. He should have some trade value and it should be a win-win situation for whoever gets him
  7. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Great idea now there can be a thread for every rumor and you can find what you want easily instead of searching through a 60 page thread to find it. and not have the entire main forum littered with trade threads. good work jas (i'm assuming it was your idea....for some reason, i think i'm wrong )
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) I tend to think we'll see Jenks throw the 9th, assuming this game doesn't get any closer. I am definately buying into this rumor of Shingo being on the way out. i am, as well. He hasn't been used in awhile, today would be a perfect time. I'm all for the "out with shingo" campaign
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) My thoughts are during the off-season team discussion gets less and at those parts of the year its almost better for all rumors to be in the main forum (however, if this works out well and everyone prefers to keep the forum year round, I'm definately open to it). good point, but during the season at least you could leave the section up
  10. sounds good. you could always keep this sub-forum year-round instead of making a gigantic trade thread. ( i like it, but i know some don't.) This would be away of pleasing both parties
  11. "everything so far this year has gone great for the white sox." that quote scares me to death. Something terrible is bound to happen
  12. 2 out runs? yes even better when you see that all 3 runs came when there were 2 outs AND no one on base this is how you win baseball games
  13. is it possible this move is just to free up a roster spot for duque?
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) 3.) I have his jersey andI don't want it to bee a $200 waste. we all know this is the only reason you don't want him gone i was smart and got buehrle for my authentic one in '03 (w/ the ASG patch on it, woo)
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) And I'll jump for joy. I still remember how close Iowa got to beating you guys last year (after I predicted a win). My god I'd of been in tears if they won. Of course Alford had to save his job. I just hope he's figured things out now cause I don't stand for mediocrity and the Hawkeyes have some decent pieces returning and should be able to at least compete for a middle tier spot in the big 10 (which would get em in the tourney). yes they did. They came damn close to beating us at home, which is a no-no no one else even came close at home.
  16. you gotta laugh at that, they put our man on base, we come through

    Eminem Retires

QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) 50 Cent isnt a hack P.I.M.P a rapper singing about being a pimp? real original there. Eminem's serious songs were actually very good, i don't care if you like rap or not (Stan, Mockingbird, etc.) When he tried to be funny, he was just plain annoying. (Just lose it)
  18. thank you guys for entertaining me for a few minutes

    Crede

People are just sick of crede's lack of offense. We're willing to stand him because of his great D though

    Eminem Retires

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) While not great, at least Eminem kept some part of the heart of hip hop by addressing some issues that traditional hip hop (i.e. Public Enemy etc.) used to discuss. And while it is kind of calling Em "the world's tallest midget" at least he is better than 50 Cent, Fat Joe and the rest of those hacks. ^
  21. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) get rid of him is what I say pretty sure most of twin nation agrees with you
  22. why do you think it'll be so soon?
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) I disagree. Since the end of May Shingo has been pretty darn good. The only run he allowed in June was a homer in Colorado. He has given up some runs this month, but only when he was stretched beyond 1 inning, which was the time he gave up runs last year, and when some bizarre occurances happened in the field. He still gets over a strikeout an inning. Shingo, used 1 inning at a time, is still a pretty good pitcher. I know KW is going for the kill that's why I think if this trade occurs, its just a prelude to acquiring someone else. I will be dissappointed if its just simply picking Bobby Jenks over Shingo. i understand that he has been getting better, but ozzie seems to still be a little gunshy of putting him into a big situation, like most fans. If we're only going to use him at mop-up right now and we can find a taker, fine by me.
  24. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Esp w/ Shingo's contract, only a team that still thinks it's in it would deal for him. Like you said the Dbacks make sense, being only a few games back of SD. dbacks have been looking for BP help all season, i'm sure it's them.
