He's 12th in fWAR among 2nd baseman, so he is a solid player. He's also under control for a while. Not sure what his trade value is, but I'd be open to exploring it. He'll get traded at some point with all the talent behind him on the minors (including Roch).

Sounds like a good problem to have. We make some trades for outfielders or pitching.

I've thought about this and well. It's definitely a bit risky because Gonzalez was basically a non-prospect going into this year. And Meidroth is on pace for a 3-4 WAR season. He's under control for 5 for years (including this year). They've had such a drought at 2B for years, it's nice to finally have a decent player there. I think eventually he'll get traded away, but I'm not sure if that's this year. I'd be open to it if we can get a worthwhile starter for him.

If he performed better in previous years, we're looking at easily a top 100 guy, maybe top 50. Hell, Braden Montgomery is 23 years old and just made it to AAA. He's ranked the #24 prospect in baseball. At what point does he regain his trade value?

What are the chances that a comp pick even becomes as good as Gonzalez is now?
