  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:46 PM) We might be saying "what if" if Kolek becomes an ace, but at least they can't be accused of passing on him. All of the TUC posts in the last week were wasted hot air in the end. Nola probably ends up 7-12 where everyone was projecting him for the last couple of months. Wonder if they have a shot at Finnegan at 44 with all the shoulder concerns? That might cause him to want to take the guaranteed money, rather than risk losing even more if his shoulder goes. Luke Weaver please.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) I don't like the Schwarber tons, but sounds like the Cubs are going after Flaherty next. Legit prep arm. Not if we draft him before them
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) He looks good in the 1983 jersey already That's great.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) That's sexy.
  5. I have the biggest hard on right now. Guys, I'm so pumped
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) KW wants Jackson. Let's see the reach of his pull... WHY TELL US NOW?!?!?!?!
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) John Manuel ‏@johnmanuelba 39s Hearing more Aaron Nola than Tyler Kolek at 3 to CWS at this time, change from previous mocks #mlbdraft from Secaucus, NJ Expand This all changes if Aiken doesn't go 1.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) I mean, if I was going to guess any switching things up I'd bet it's the cubs. The catcher from Indiana or Confronto.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) Sox go with Trea Turner ;-) I'd cry
  10. Leyer for Kanny. Not Guerrero.
  11. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) Mike Leake, Nola is said to have higher upside than Leake. Eh that doesn't excite me to much. He's a 3 at best. I haven't read our watched much of Nola. What's his arsenal?
  12. Should of been a sweep but Damn proud of this team to take two out of three from the Dodgers. Now let's take two out of three from the Angels, they might be without Trout. Stiff back
  13. Why no talk of Rodon? If it goes Aiken, Jackson, Coop liked Rodon second
  14. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) The draft under KW was a totally different animal though. The Sox did not pick BPA, they picked the BPA for the amount of money that we had left in the budget to spend in the draft. Cutting back salaries has allowed the team to be more aggressive in the draft going after top tier talent instead of guys they can sign on the cheap. I totally agree that if the Sox would have built there system they would not have been in that situation, but last years deals were paying for the sins of the past and now we have to move forward with a new approach instead of sinking back into what got us in trouble in the first place. Yet, when you look at it. When KW traded our "good" prospects for MLB proven talent, none of which has come back to bite us. There isn't a single prospect that we traded that I can say that dang we should of kept him.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) I don't understand how this could be a conclusion. The Sox would have been in on Abreu regardless. I really don't care Rios is gone, and the return was meh, but that is what a guy with Rios' reputation and contract bring. Besides, if A. Garcia didn't get hurt, where would he play? But, the Sox offered real money to Tanaka. If Rios meant they couldn't sign anyone else, I don't know how they could have bid on him. There was always going to be money for Abreu. I agree.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) The problem is that Viciedo and Eaton are both hitting terribly right now, and we don't have the quality in Sierra/DeAza to cover for Garcia's departure. They were hot at the beginning of the year. Everyone struggles at some point in the year. Its baseball, it happens. Remember when Abreu was in a 1-22 slump and then another 1-18 slump, yeah it happens. Everyone needs to relax. Sox are STILL at 500 and 4 gb of Tigers and 1 gb of the Wild Card.
  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 07:43 AM) The Peavy trade was good, can't blame Garcia's injury on Hahn. Got two excellent pitching prospects with Avisail. Peavy has been hit pretty hard this year. Rest of post is valid. The Rios trade is looking like its pretty bad, should of gotten more, but that Reed for Davidson trade you still do. Every time you have the potential of acquiring a young 3b with MLB experience already who can play every day, you make that trade 10 out of 10. Yes Davidson is struggling, but I am not upset about the trade. Sure you can say we could of gotten someone else for Reed, but AT THE TIME, Davidson had come off a great year with some success with Arizona. Remind you, Davidson is still only 23, and Reed is your middle of the pack closer. I would still make that trade.
  18. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) After they grab one of the top pitchers, whoever it might be, I hope they stock up on OF or Cs. First 5 rounds I think will be all pitching in my opinion. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Seeing as how there's usually a shake up from the predicted mock drafts, I'm going with this... 1- Rodon- Houston 2- Jackson- Miami 3- Aiken- Sox 4- Nola- Cubs 5- Kolek- Twins This is how I think its going to go too.
