Yeah, I'd much rather give up Vera than Montgomery or Colas.
-
I still like the give up nothing for Conforto angle.

It actually will probably be more than $11-13M with the escalators. If Sox need to kick in a few million, so be it. Yankees seem pretty desperate to dump Gallo, and if there is a team that wouldn't care about paying Pollock $10-13M to be a part time player next year, its the Yanks. But yeah, its a real impediment for a deal. That said, still not sold AJ won't take his $5M buyout and seek out an opportunity he prefers as opposed to being pigeonholed onto the Sox or another team if he gets moved. Its not beyond the realm of possibility he could secure a 1 year deal around $5-7M if he has a decent couple months, and then he comes out even dollars wise.

If we're worried about a shortened window, maybe we shouldn't trade from the handful of guys that can actually extend it.

Let him put together a package of our spare worthless parts and then be dumbfounded when the organization actually has to give up something of value to acquire an asset. Rinse, repeat.

Colas isn't ready and won't be until mid 2023. Reynolds is surely a better player now and will be for the next couple seasons at least, no debate on that. But not sure why Colas has "to make an impact very quickly". But its not just Colas for Reynolds, its Colas +++, and really 6.5 seasons of Colas (3.5 of which at league minimum or close) for 3.333 seasons of Reynolds at likely around $10-12M AAV. I am not saying I am completely opposed to moving Colas for Reynolds, but for me, Colas is going to be valued very highly based on his proximity to the bigs and the fact that he shores up a ton of weaknesses with this club's construction.

I just don’t get how you trade a potential solution to our decades long issues in RF. Above average defender, left handed stick, power, Cuban, cost controlled. Just don’t see how you can trade him.
-
Improves OF defense and lineup balance. Solves Sox Pollock option issues/concerns for 2023. 2022 $ mostly a wash. I think it makes some sense for both sides with NY just done with Gallo and getting someone they can plug right into the OF.

I just can’t see the Sox trading Colas.

Yep. Joc is the last thing this club needs.

Lol. You always act like you have all the answers to what ails this team and then propose a package like this. The Pirates would laugh at a Crochet + Sheets + Burger and "a low level minor leaguer or two" offer. "Here, take my older spare parts, and give me your most valuable asset" Running a baseball org would be easy if you can dictate the terms of every transaction like its a video game.

I'd flip Pollock for Gallo. Sort of solves two problems. Gallo probably sucks, but so does Pollock.
-
All the DHs!
-
They could option him though. There is no IL in the offseason.

No argument from me on this points. AV should be in LF when he plays the OF, which means Pollock needs to be in RF. I actually expect to the see an OF of Eloy/Engel/AV tonight with Pollock on the bench because Kopech is pitching which means Reese is going to catch, and Yaz probably DHs. Gonna be an adventure in the OF!

Eloy is still hurt, TLR still putting him in LF

Sheets and Burger have options are should be used as depth pieces only. Let them play defense everyday in AAA. Of course use them as trade bullets if anyone has interest. But I don’t think Sox should be trying to make room for either of those players at the big league level. And the same thing also held true for 22, but Sox stupidly broke camp with Sheets as a primary option. -

Pretty sure they’re back in chicago for the Oakland series. But yeah. Eloy needs to DH.
