  1. I was not necessarily saying I was interested. I was asking why the Mariners would make the guy they just traded for after the season available. I would give up a couple low level prospects for him to play 2B everyday tho.
  2. Adam Frazier? The guy they just traded for 2 months ago?
  3. If we're going to make a trade, let's not trade Andrew Vaughn please. I'd prefer to be good for the next 5-6 years, not classic White Sox this thing into 1-2 year window. That said, this team is good enough as is to not make any major trades. Sign Conforto. Sign one of the many 2B options. Trade Kimbrel for a cheap controllable reliever. Sign a vet SP to compete for the 5 spot. Go to battle.
  4. Comforto is a much better defender than the other 3.
  5. That gives us about 2.5 weeks to figure this out.
  6. Also, maybe this gives Yermin a sliver of trade value.
  7. Not surprising from Boob, but the 2nd part of this tweet is worded very poorly. Is Boob saying that team's will no longer get draft pick compensation for elite FAs leaving? IE: no more qualifying offer?
  8. Bauer is clearly more than a little fucked in the head and into some weird stuff, but if the court of law is not filing charges because they cannot make a case, the guy should be able to play baseball. Its not inconceivable that this was all consensual. Its also not inconvincible, in fact quite likely, that Bauer took it way too far. I haven't read about this in months so my memory is a bit foggy on it, but IIRC, the woman in question went out of her way to visit him multiple times. Why would she do that if it wasn't consensual? You don't have to like the guy or his actions, but if there are no charges, he should be able to play a sport. That being said, certainly expect LAD to what they can to get out from under the contract. I'd certainly take him in our rotation for pennies on the dollar.
  9. I think they'll use him like they used Kopech last year, but maybe a tad more aggressive since isn't coming off major surgery.
  10. Shortening the season would be a travesty. Expanding the playoffs further would be dumb.
  11. I personally would rather see guys like Vaughn and Crochet competing in the big leagues where they belong as opposed to siting in the minor leagues due to prospect hugging. The whole point should be to put your best roster on the MLB field, not win top prospect lists. I have no issue with how the Sox have handled their younger guys, with the exception of giving up on Madrigal for an overpaid reliever.
  12. You know something I don't recall on injuries? I guess I could see them slow playing Kopech to some degree - but I don't see the Sox sending him to AAA or starting season in the pen so I think his maintenance and rest is going to need to come midseason. You can never have too much pitching - but I don't think the Sox are going to sign an expensive pitcher or trade assets to acquire one so they can pay Keuchel $18M to work out of the pen as a mop up man. They also have Lambert, Stiever and McClure who are all 25 and older and are basically at do or die positions in their careers. Not expecting anything from any of them, but if they need a spot start or two, they have a couple bodies that are due their chances. Again, fully expect them to add a vet SP or 2 off the scrap heap anyway.
  13. I expect the Sox to bring in a cheap vet or 2 to compete with Keuchel and provide insurance for Kopech. I am not trading Vaughn just to push Keuchel out of the rotation though. He's a plenty servicible 5 for this team in this division.
  14. I don't think we NEED SP. I think the Sox sign a legit RF (Conforto) and a cheap 2B (several options). I don't think the Sox should trade Vaughn to fill either. Would I trade Vaughn for Marte? Yeah, maybe. But now we need a LF/DH and and RF (no I don't care about Sheets). Just plugs a hole we created with the dumb AF Madrigal trade by creating another hole in trading away another pre-arb potential star in Vaughn. Keep Vaughn. Sign Conforto. Sign a cheap 2B. Go to battle with best roster in AL.
  15. Vaughn can play LF. Eloy can DH. Days Yaz needs to DH/1B, Vaughn/Jose/Eloy/[Conforto] can get a breather. Plenty of at bats to go around. No need to trade Vaughn unless you get bowled over.
  16. Easy peasy.
  17. The third one is the only one that makes a lick of sense. I am not trading Vaughn tho.
  18. As I’ve said before, they deserve and have earned the skepticism. I guess I just want to believe they’ll do the right thing. They went multiple seasons during the rebuild making good decisions. Madrigal was a step in the wrong direction. Hope to see it end there. But understand those who feel it’s as white Soxy as it gets.
  19. Also imagine the Sox trading a cost controlled solid 2B that was a great team fit (on the field), a former top 5 pick and quick mover for literally nothing, and then turning around the next season and trading your cost controlled future middle of the order bat who was also a top 5 pick for a 2B. Lol. It’s literally comical to imagine. I would lose so much faith. Doubling down on stupid.
  20. Right. Castellanos and Schwarber should be non starters. They’re awful defenders. Flanking Robert with 2 of Eloy, Vaughn, Castellanos and Schwarber is asking for Serious and consistent trouble. Continue to refuse to believe the Sox would make that stupid of a decision at this juncture.
  21. Yes, everyone who posts here knows you hate Vaughn.
  22. Continues to make less than no sense.
  23. Bummer. I still held on hope that he'd make it as reliever someday. Even if not for the Sox - he was just a guy I rooted for. But he's 27 now - it wasn't going to happen. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Alec.
  24. Sure, I get the thought process behind it. But there is simply 0% chance I am trading Eloy right now. That would be nuts. Dude has the upside of one of the very best hitters on the planet. He's coming off a dreadful season. Eloy is my DH for the next 5 seasons. I would allow him to play a little LF in 22 and 23 to keep him happy, but the Sox are much much better off with Eloy at DH at this point. He's a risk to himself and everyone around him in LF. So Eloy stays. I fully expect him to pop out over 50 homers - while also hitting for average - one of the next couple seasons if the Sox commit to DH him 80%+ of the time. I am not a Sheets guy. I do not expect him to be anything other than a Brandon Moss type if everything goes well. Now that is a wonderfully useful guy to have around at the moment because we need lefty bats bad, but he cannot field a single position and we have Eloy at DH. I put him in AAA to start the season and wait for a need - one will certainly arise. He's got 2 more option years - lets use them. Vaughn is my LF for my aforementioned reasons. He'll always be a 1B. We can always move him back to 1B when father time eventually catches up to Jose. But we all know 2022 isn't Jose's last year in a Sox uni. Don't get me wrong - Ketel Marte would be a great addition. But we simply cannot add him without meaningfully subtracting from this roster. He's a luxury we don't need. Put on your big boy pants and give Conforto 4/$80M. Bring in one of Villar, Miller, Solano or Harrison to platoon with Leury at 2B and fill in around the diamond. We don't need a star at 2B. That roster is loaded.
  25. Especially when he has a very clear role on this team. Trading him++ for Marte is simply plugging a hole and also creating one. No thanks.
