  1. I'd prefer not. But I guess its not the end of the world, and nice to have the option.
  2. I think Vaughn comes up as soon as the extra year is secured assuming he's healthy. No benefit to waiting until June or July (other than super 2, which I dont think they're messing with). As I just stated in the post previous to this, bringing in another bat should be a priority. But it needs to be someone who can play the field. We don't need a DH.
  3. Still doesn't answer the question of what happens to Schwarber when Vaughn arrives. Too many DH types. If we sign another bat (and we should), it needs to be a guy that can play the field. Dahl, Gonzalez, Kike, LaStella, Profar all far better fits than another DH.
  4. I will bet you any sum of money he doesn't stay down all year. You name the price.
  5. So what happens to Schwarber when Vaughn comes up 25 games into the season?
  6. Yeah, no. Ozuna, Schwaber, Rosasrio and Brantley are DHs and Sox would have a clown show OF. I probably would have made it work for Brantley, but you pretty much have to sign a guy like Eaton with him anyway. You can't rely on Brantley to play 150+ games in RF, especially with Eloy in LF. Defense would be so bad. I like Dahl as an option too, but again, can't go into the season penciling Dahl in as the everyday RF. He can still be an option even with Eaton signed. JBJ I wouldn't have minded, but I think he's at least on par with Eaton.
  7. Brantley probably isn't going to happen, but Joc could maybe still make sense if he'd sign a 1 year deal. Still wouldn't mind getting David Dahl. I also think Marwin Gonzalez would be great cause he can play everywhere and fill in for a week or two at many positions in case of IL stints. Still room for him on the roster once Vaughn arrives. Can't really say the same about DH types like Schwarber.
  8. Besides Springer, please list the better FA options. I assume one will be Joc, which is somewhat arguable, but I'll give you that one. But after that......who are the other 5 guys?
  9. Just have the normal twitter and ST meatheads saying "OMG!!! HE JUST HUNG UP ON THE RADIO INTERVIEW! WHAT A DICK THIS IS GOING OVER SO WELL" and then other people just run with the narrative without listening to it themselves. It was a complete non issue.
  10. He had a very normal interview until the very end. He answered 4-5 questions, the last 2 of which were in regards to TLR. Once he got the third TLR question in a row this one about his issues connecting with younger players, he simply chuckled and was like "alright alright guys, I think its time. Have a great day!". He didn't just hang up and wasn't a colossal dick about it. Overblown here and on twitter by people who didn't actually listen to it.
  11. Kopech cannot throw 180+ innings next season. There is a 100% chance he is the minors until June. You need to add another SP, unless you want to rely on Lopez taking 10-15 starts.
  12. So listening to something and coming to your own conclusion makes one a sheep, but just going with the herd and pulling out your pitchforks without any research make one what exactly?
  13. Have you listened to it? I am not carrying any water. I am reporting what I heard, when I actually took the 5 mins to listen.
  14. FWIW - I just listened to the radio bit with Eaton. He didn't hang up and was respectful. Just didn't care to answer the third question in a row about TLR. Wasn't nearly as bad as some people here are making it out to be.
  15. Yeah, we don't really need a superstar RF. We need a superstar SP. I get why you don't love it, but I think you're being a tad irrational here and Joc isn't really any better of an option. Short of Springer or a trade emptying the farm, there were not a ton of excellent options and Eaton was right there with Joc as the "best of the rest".
  16. Yeah, we definitely need another guy who can play OF for stretches. Give me Marwin Gonzalez.
  17. .365 career OBP with Washington. That would have been good for 2nd on the Sox last season. .279/.365/.427 good for 2.3 fWAR in 2019. Hasn't been good in years is just wrong. Yeah, he was bad in a shortened 2020. Which is why he could be had for 1/$7M.
  18. Worse than who? Certainly not worse than anyone else we've been throwing out there. The only guy you could point to (besides Springer) that you can make an argument is a better fit is Joc. And that is no slam dunk. Joc is coming off a .190/.285/.395 season good for -0.1 fWAR. Eaton wasn't any better in 2020, but its not like Joc was some home run signing. The rest of the options suck balls at defense.
  19. Why? He's a great fit. Besides the fact this takes out of Springer for sure, its a good on field move. Here is to hoping Eaton has matured a bit since he left.
  20. I think this is patently false, especially since the Sox were interested in Lynn prior to 2020 White Sox manager TLR being a twinkle in JR's eye. I don't doubt that TLR had good things to say about a potential Lynn acquisition, but to say the Sox wouldn't have been interested in Lynn without TLR is likely a big reach, considering what we know.
