  1. Not sure how you can really like Williams play LF most days. I suppose the potential silver lining here is that if Vaughn becomes a suitable LF, we've solved our DH issue. Eloy just becomes the DH and Vaughn the LF for 2022, and can re-address when we see what the Jose situation looks like at the end of his deal in 2023. I tend to think he's going nowhere (assuming he doesn't fall off a cliff next 2 years), which means this theoretically could solve our problem. That being said, I truthfully have no idea how Vaughn will look in LF. We don't need him to be good - but can he passable? I guess we'll see.
  2. Yeah, the Yanks aren't just going to give him away tho.
  3. Yeah, I mean I guess I'd bring him in as opposed to nothing, but I am confident that in the in-house solutions would be just as good as 34 YO Bruce who has been bad for several years. Ryan Braun I guess I could get behind. Lefty would be ideal, but Sox aren't exactly flush with options.
  4. What about his .194/.242/.419 spring training slash line is solid? Jay Bruce fuc*ing sucks.
  5. So you giving Abreu away or trading Vaughn to make it happen?
  6. Lol, dude I am not talking about trading Vaughn. I have never once on this site insinuate that trading Vaughn is good idea or proposed. I am talking about trading for someone outside of the org who can play LF this season, so Vaughn can DH/1B.
  7. Even if you put Vaughn in LF, you now have a hole at DH. Not sure discussing Vaughn playing LF gives Sox any trade talk leverage.
  8. If anyone sees a link to Hahn presser, please post.
  9. Whats the status on Engel injury? Is he even gonna be able to break camp with the Sox and avoid a DL stint.
  10. Man, this sucks. I am not overly hopeful at this juncture. Posted this video in the other Eloy thread, but this is a doctor analyzing the video and its not very encouraging.
  11. Gahhh I’m all down on it after watching this video. Man losing Eloy for 3-4+ months would be a brutal kick to the nuts.
  12. Ehhhh, who knows. Sox said right away no updates until tomorrow. Lynn did say that Eloy was in good spirits and seemed to insinuate he’s ok. I think it could go either way. I watched the highlight many times and it does look like his shoulder popped out as he wrapped his arm around the fence as he came down. But it’s hard to tell. Eloy also seems a bit soft so I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s a couple day thing and he’s fine. Also wouldn’t be shocked if it’s a longer term injury. But hoping for good news and Eloy is needed.
  13. Then what? Play Engel in LF? And Vaughn to the bench? Eloy in LF doesn’t work with the way this roster is constructed. The Sox don’t even need him to be anything better than a bad LF. They need him to not hurt himself.
  14. Yeah...but like....with Abreu and Vaughn...he can’t DH. So he’s the LF until Abreu is no longer here. Which is why extending Jose never made much sense as anyone with a mind saw this problem coming, but obviously year 1 of that deal sure went well fo him. Truthfully not sure what else they can unless they want to trade Vaughn which also makes no sense. edit: missing a word
  15. Is this based on anything or just your feeling? Hope you’re right tho! edit: never mind - I hadn’t seen your response.
  16. His trade value has already cratered. He has 1 option left (this year). You're not getting anything via trade for him - you just hope something clicks over the next year.
  17. Needs? This narrative is so dumb. Why would the Sox trade collins for a dime on the dollar just to be nice? Having a catcher with upside around is a huge plus. Giving him away for nothing makes no sense.
  18. Hopefully not a sign that Robert is more serious.
  19. According to fangraphs, he does. Though I felt like he has out when the Sox claimed him.
  20. Engel should be the late inning defense replacement, not Leury.
  21. I like Leury, but he plays anywhere close to 100 games, things went very, very wrong.
  22. Why take a dime on the dollar just to help him out? edit: spelling
