  1. lol you can’t be serious? First of all, I’m in my 20s. Second, no shit Eloy and Moncada are tougher than me. They’re fucking professional athletes and athletic freaks of nature. I am talking about softness in the context of professional baseball/athletes. No idea how calling Moncada soft makes me a “tough guy”. It’s clear as day to anyone who watches the Sox. Sorry I offended you, buddy.
  2. My guess is he is more of a LF option than anything else. But who knows, I guess we'll see. At the end of the day, there really is no harm in bringing him in.
  3. Why, exactly? He's a major leaguer, and Mendick likely isn't. Plus, its not like you're shooting Mendick to the moon. The guy will still be in the organization, likely on the taxi squad, or at the very least, a phone call away.
  4. Its not like Mendick goes away. He just a phone call away and has options.
  5. Yeah that was cool. Look guys - I like Moncada alot. But he acts hurt all the time. Agree to disagree if you want, but its a rarity when he goes a week of playing everyday without acting seriously hurt. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who watches most Sox games. Regular occurrence.
  6. Meh. I don't hate it regardless. Lamb is an athletic dude. I am sure he can play LF.
  7. Guaranteed MLB deal, eh? Really only makes sense if they think he can play LF regularly because he can't cover SS or 2B.
  8. Maybe don't try to drag everyone else down with your negativity.
  9. Who is Beckman? Tim Beckham? Maybe. My guess is he's no longer with the org in a few weeks. Regardless, Tim Beckham playing extended innings at 3B this season would be disaster.
  10. I honestly don't know. I went with Leury, just because I don't think they're going to expose Engel to RHP everyday. Engel play against LHP, but he may be in RF and Leury in LF those days with Eaton on the bench. Still far from sold on the Vaughn LF bit, but if he leads the teal in the LF innings this year, I think that is a good development for the future.
  11. Yoan Moncada is incredibly soft. This has absolutely nothing to do with Covid last year. He gets a complete pass for everything to do with last season from me. But the dude acts like he's seriously injured frequently. Foul ball off his shin, hit by pitch, diving for a ball, etc. Always acts very hurt. I agree Moncada is a super elite athlete and I am not really bad mouthing him. I love the guy. But he's charmin soft.
  12. Lamb can still play 3rd. They aren't moving Moncada to LF to make room for Jake Lamb. Lamb is an insurance to Moncada injury (becuase honestly, it was Mendick otherwise, and literally no one else). My guess is Lamb will be picking up an OF glove and may see some reps in LF if he makes the roster.
  13. Didn't he pitch some in college? He has to have a decent arm for being a reliever in the PAC12.
  14. I still think Lucroy makes the roster. No way Collins should be catching games when lefties are on the opposing mound. I guess Yermin could catch those games instead of Collins with Leury in LF until Engel comes back.
  15. I was fully (maybe still am) in the "don't break camp with Vaughn segment" but with the Eloy injury, I'd be pretty surprised if was not on the OD roster.
  16. True. Which I guess is what makes him a great 26th man....until he finds his way to the IL.
  17. I like Jake Lamb. Always have. I almost posted this the other day when he got released. I bet he could play LF, he's a very good 3B. If anything, it proves some insurance for when Yoan stubs his toe and acts like his foot needs to be amputated.
  18. If Vaughn is our new LF, how are they asking a ton of Leury? If Vaughn remains the DH, I would agree that expecting Leury to be a near everyday player in an OF corner isn't going to end well. Its also not like Leury is the epitome of health either.
  19. It is Vaughn.
  20. Hmmm. Seems hard to believe as I would imagine Collins and Lucroy are ahead of him on the pecking order. Carrying 4 catchers? Doubt it. I guess they could cut Lucroy, but with Collins and Yermin both iffy at best receivers, seems unlikely.
  21. I haven’t been able to catch the games that Vaughn has played LF. How has he looked?
  22. No matter how much you try to talk it into existence, the only way Grandal is catching 100ish games is if he is hurt. Sorry man.
  23. Pretty sure he was demoted to minor league camp like 2 weeks ago. I like Micker and do think he has some untapped potential. I am open to giving him a shot at some point this summer if the Engel/Leury situation isn't going well (he needs to be on MLB roster next season anyway or hes's gone), but I don't think he is ready quite yet.
  24. Any everyday OF that includes two of Williams/Engel/Leury/Eaton is IMHO an issue, yes. I suppose this is the set-up you have to roll with for now assuming no outside additions (batting order not really the focus here and would need to put more thought into that): RHP: Anderson SS, Eaton RF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Vaughn LF, Grandal C, Robert CF, Collins DH, Madrigal 2B LHP: Anderson SS, Madrigal 2B, Vaughn DH, Abreu 1B, Robert CF, Moncada 3B, Grandal C, Engel RF, Leury / Eaton LF This all assume Vaughn can passabily play LF (big if), and obviously ignores the fact that Engel is out for a bit. Thankfully Eaton isn't terrible against LHP (tho he certainly hits RHP better), so Leury/Eaton covering the OF corner for the first couple weeks will probably be the play. Maybe Williams makes the roster, but I am not playing him everyday over Leury. We really need another option - even its its just a guy we put the alt camp to start.
