  1. It's the cost of quality free agents. It's where the Sox should be spending their money instead of over paid RPs.
  2. What is the actual breakdown of RH vs LH pitchers a team faces? 70/30 RH vs LH? So Conforto struggles against 30% of the pitching he faces. The rest of the lineup struggles against that 70%. He's also not a complete black hole in the field and doesn't kill Luis Robert. And he's sitting out there in FA waiting to be signed. It just costs money and they can structure a contract that doesn't kill their precious future flexibility. I know I'm not basing this directly off advanced stats, but its also not rocket science. Reducing him to a platoon player is hyperbole IMO.
  3. I never really thought Manny was worth the 10/30, but it was still so aggravating to watch the FO lose another prized FA because they refused to act like a big market franchise. But I have no doubt that they wouldn't have spent elsewhere had they locked up such a contract. It's a strange contradiction. I know how they operate so I doubt they do what it would take to sign Conforto, but they absolutely *should* because that's what winning teams do. But that's not and will never be how this ownership group operates.
  4. That's makes senses. I just haven't heard for certain how it works regarding picks for this season.
  5. Yes I am aware, he responded to my post saying they wouldn't go 4. Which was rather disappointing.
  6. And it speaks to their backwards thinking when it comes to FA.
  7. This is my line of thinking as well. Boras is going to want opt outs. I threw it after year one to be enticing to both sides.
  8. I know the QO is on hold until after the season contingent on the INT draft, but hadn't heard how it would impact players who received one before the lockout. I was assuming no pick loss this year.
  9. NSC doesn't know shit. Conforto might be a pipe dream but NSC sounding the death knell is meaningless.
  10. Does he cost a pick this year?
  11. Heyward's was much worse though if I remember correctly. Where as Conforto actually put up numbers worthy of such a contract, down year notwithstanding.
  12. Just offer Conforto 5/$110 with an opt out after 1 already...
  13. Yup. Colorado will be happy to ship him off after his price tag jumps up.
  14. And promptly traded with cash after the 2023 season.
  15. I’m not intimately familiar with their roster but that’s a hell of a middle of the order if they make that deal.
  16. Didn’t they overhaul the development staff after those trades? Or around the same time? Am I imagining that? They tried to supplement Sale & Q so many times it seems and it was never enough. It’s really impossible to know what a tinker here or a different move there does to the arc of the entire rebuild.
  17. Castellanos, Harper, & Schwarber in the same lineup??
  18. It’s tough to know if those guys would have developed the same here. I don’t know if any of us expected them to reach the peaks that they did. But it’s pretty safe to say the Sox gave up on them too soon.
  19. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. It is TLR after all.
