  1. There’s Conforto’s average D and then there’s Daniel Palka level Gavin Sheets. Sheets was abysmal in the field and Engel simply can’t be counted on to play regularly. I get that some don’t like Conforto but these comparisons strain credulity.
  2. Kimbrel’s option covers a large chunk of Conforto’s year 1 salary . And there were other RP options to be had. Hahn could have addressed both areas of need, let’s be real here.
  3. Right, the majority of the board is unrealistic. And every statement you make is 100% fact, despite being continually debunked and refuted. Sure Sure.
  4. Or waste $10M on another stop gap that’s doesn’t move the needle either.
  5. Seriously! If he’s not even asking for a 5th year, balking at 4 is silly.
  6. Does Boras hold out for $100M or does Conforto take a shorter show me deal the longer this drags out?
  7. Yeah, sorry, but SS2K is not the one being delusional here. Eloy will get days off in LF. Abreu will get days off at 1B. Gavin Sheets, if he is even on the roster, will sit vs LHP. There isn't a RF on the roster and we might be looking at 2 1B playing there every day. Between RF, LF, 1B, and DH, Andrew Vaughn will not sit 5 days a week.
  8. And don't get me wrong, I like Gavin's bat. But he's also a limited and flawed player. His anointing as an everyday player after the afore mentioned hand selected ABs is damned silly.
  9. TLR is the manager, so no doubt he won't be as logical as you've stated above. But the notion that AV sits on the bench 5 days a week because they signed a real RF is patently absurd. Sheets might not even make it out of camp with this club for all we know.
  10. You didn't answer the question. You just assumed Vaughn wouldn't play, which is wildly inaccurate.
  11. I would think the FO would want him to opt out and would see the back end as a minimal risk. If they don't want go there on years I get that, but chances are its a 2 year deal anyway. Refusing to do that is just ass backwards IMO. If Colas hits in 2 years, you worry about that then while you are winning in the meantime.
  12. What the bloody hell has Sheets done to deserve a roster spot over Vaughn? Conforto is an actual major league caliber RF. Neither Vaughn or Sheets are. Sheets isn't even passable as a major league 1B, his supposed natural position. I get that you don't like Conforto, but that limb you are walking further out onto is mighty shaky.
  13. I give an opt out after two. Maybe the 5th year a mutual option or some sweetener for the Sox end? IDK. He had one down year, he is 29 and hasn't been trending downward the way Dunn was or guys in 32/33ish do. $22M AAV just isn't the albatross contract some make it seem.
  14. He fills one of the biggest holes/needs on this team and people are turning their nose up. It's not like they are trying to sign a new face of the franchise here, just a valuable piece. Makes no sense to me.
  15. Hmmm, seems like those 5/110 numbers are right in line with their potential ask. Not at all unreasonable IMO.
  16. Change that date to December 2023 and voila!
  17. Facts that poke holes in hot takes don't matter. Come on now.?
