Apple TV the service is like another Hulu, Netflix, Disney+. You'd have to subscribe just to get the few Sox games they would get exclusive rights to. I'm sure the deal has been in the works for a long time, but announcing what amounts to less/more difficult access to baseball during a lockout already threatening a large chunk of the season is damned tone deaf. We need more legal online access, not more blackouts.

That's the question I want answered as well. Does exclusive mean Apple TV only and no other access? If fans still get a local broadcast then it's not a big issue.

The longer this has dragged out the less aligned the owners seem, beyond their willingness to lose games to stick it to the players. A lack of real leadership on their side defensively isn’t helping find a resolution.

I fear its all posturing until the players are forced to accept 60 games or no season at all.

Moving Eloy to full time DH would require him to adjust, but plenty of hitters have. He’d be on a very short leash in LF if it were up to me. 1 to 2 starts a week in LF max. His bat is just too damned valuable for his fielding shenanigans.

True, but more games is more tv money, whether the casual fans tune in or not. Owners don’t necessarily care about quality if they get quantity.

Division series' are currently a 5 game format, right? This would be adding 2 extra games potentially to the DS while adding the extra WCs. Without drastically altering the regular season schedule or playing deep into November, I don't know what else they can do.

If they are intent on 14, I really think this would be the best format. I want to see the number of teams whittled down as quickly as possible as to not drastically alter the current format. A couple of extra do or die Wild Card games doesn’t dilute the regular season or post season too much IMO.

I don’t really like the whole 45 days to implement changes thing. We saw how bad the sticky substance change was mid season. Some things seriously need to be left for the off-season.

I simply can’t echo your first two paragraphs enough. Engel is a 4th OF with less than dependable health and Vaughn & Sheets simply are not Major League RF. Putting that combo out in the field every day in the middle of the Sox contention window is a complete failure to address a longtime hole at a position of need.
