Apple TV+ to have 2 exclusive games on Fridays

Featured Replies

Just saw during the Apple event that they are going to air 2 games exclusively on Apple TV+ on Fridays.

And I pay for MLB.TV (when there's no lockout) why???

More money for MLB and less access for fans.  How lovely...

Does this mean an Apple game isn't available to the local markets?

MLB always trying to hurt their fanbase. Unless they will be free on the app this is so dumb

That's the question I want answered as well.  Does exclusive mean Apple TV only and no other access?  If fans still get a local broadcast then it's not a big issue.

The more I think about it the more it feels like another form of a blackout.  Baseball needs more access, not less.

Just what I was afraid of.  Push your fans further away.  Well done MLB.

You would think all these TV deals being announced that there is urgency on the owners side to get a deal done soon.

We really do root for the absolute stupidest group of sports owners.

So the two Friday games against the Yankees are going to be on Apple TV+.

How much does Apple TV+ cost?  Honestly not even aware of what it is.  I assume this is something we'll need to subscribe to get access to the handful of Sox games that are on this each year?

Lmao just the email from apple, I'm sure they are telling mlb they better figure it out right f-in now

the NHL and NFL are doing this too. It's just a matter of time before it becomes commonplace throughout all sports.

I thought I saw that TNF will be an Amazon Prime exclusive going forward and every team plays one Thursday game.

Apple TV the service is like another Hulu,  Netflix, Disney+.  You'd have to subscribe just to get the few Sox games they would get exclusive rights to.  I'm sure the deal has been in the works for a long time, but announcing what amounts to less/more difficult access to baseball during a lockout already threatening a large chunk of the season is damned tone deaf.  We need more legal online access, not more blackouts.

Terrible idea. If this goes thru I am moving to Moscow. This is the worst idea since flushable wipes.

Apple TV is $4.99 a month after a 7 day free trial and you may need hardware to run it. My Sony Tv runs android Tv and so Apple TV is the one service I can’t get on it.

the only positive is it'll be neat to see games in 4k

i totally expect since MLB will be producing the games that they won't bother

Yah. Pay enough for mlb.tv; crazy to take away access.

Pretty cheap at least.

I’m surprised it’s that cheap honestly.  It’s not terrible, but another annoying cost if you wouldn’t otherwise consume the platform’s content.

With the carrier fees that go into my cable bill already, I will be damned before pay Apple money for games I should already get and that they are taking from me.
