Yeah but say we put all our eggs in that basket but he signs with the Phillies... then it's January of 2021, you hopefully have a really good roster but are just lacking a big star, but you're screwed because you waited and failed on Trout. I do think he's the kind of guy who would come here if we threw all the money at him but is it worth waiting and taking the pretty substantial risk of him not coming?

Too much pitching in the sense that we have too many MLB caliber starters. Obviously we can move some to the bullpen. My point is that for 2019, between Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Stephens, Covey, Dunning, and Cease, I just don't see Adams getting a shot unless there are many injuries

Forgot about Danish, that would be cool too. The thing with Adams is, even if he keeps pitching well, I really don't see him getting MLB starts with us. There are just too many guys ahead of him, both right now and next year too

Give his role to Spencer Adams. Someone who can eat some mop up innings but not someone of Kopech/Stephens caliber who should keep starting

7/25 Games
Prior to the season, many were low on Cease and high on Dunning. Now, Cease has been excellent and Dunning, while rock solid, is out for the foreseeable future and may need TJS. As daggins said below, they're both "second pieces" or third arguably with Dunning, but I was interested to see what people thought of the two. A lot of people like to throw around "worst case scenario, he's a lights out closer!" for starting pitching prospects... but yeah, with Cease, I actually agree. I don't see him being any worse than an average-ish starter or good closer. I think they both will, if healthy. Yeah, this, and also since their stock has gone in opposite directions lately. Although Dunning's is due to health rather than performance As much as I like both I'll have to agree. I think you let Cease finish the year in AA unless he continues this ridiculous pace, but I expect minor regression. Then either start him in AAA next year or I guess give him a couple AAA starts this year to get his feet wet like we did with Kopech last year.

If we get 1 solid MLB starter out of Cease and Dunning, would you consider that a success?

Abreu- White Sox Winner!!!
Rodon’s pitching, Soria’s pitching, Moncada’s ABs, Anderson’s defense, Abreu’s ABs, Yolmer’s heads up play in the 6th, Delmonico coming through in the clutch. Lots of good moments- This is another Game Thread
Good job Soria. Enjoy Houston- This is another Game Thread
I hate how NBCSCN gives us that horrible angle at the most important moments lately- This is another Game Thread
When you go to Minaya with 2 runners on and 2 outs in the 8th, you can only blame the manager. Give me Gomez, Soria, hell even any of the lefties.- This is another Game Thread
Honestly, walk Trout here.- This is another Game Thread
I mean, is anyone surprised?- This is another Game Thread
7.2 IP, about to be 2 ER, not too shabby for Rodon- This is another Game Thread
He's been better than Engel at every facet at the game other than running- This is another Game Thread
I may sound like a broken record in these game threads but I am so, unbelievably, indescribably, beyond tired of Adam Engel- This is another Game Thread
It certainly wouldn't hurt a sales pitch to Machado/Harper- This is another Game Thread
Ehhhh I think he's pretty much done - Seunghwan Oh to be Traded Soon?
