  1. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) I'm just messing around. I brought those jokes upon myself with my stubbornness and hardheadedness. Just not a big Abreu fan and I think he is grossly overrated around here. His demi-god status is reaching trump levels. It's ridiculous. That's fine and you're entitled to that opinion, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to post "the sky is falling" type threads every time he slumps.
  2. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) I am getting tired of seeing Dylan Covey's poor pitching every 5 days. Do us a favor and make some posts blessing our prospects and protecting them from injuries. Thanks.
  3. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:47 PM) I tried to take the high road with him and stand up for Chuck. He really just is a jerk. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> He quickly blocked me after telling me "it'll be a cold day in hell before i take advice on professionalism from some coward tweeting from behind a pseudonym" And it looks like he then replied "send your observations to Lake nobody cares"
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) Ha, no we can't but I'm now certain I'm just a moron who missed the podcast link because it blended into the tweet, my apologies. I was only referring to the tweet. FYI to anyone looking to embed a tweet, you can grab the "embed tweet" code from twitter then when posting on here change "post options" half way down the reply screen to "HTML On - Raw/Auto Linebreak Mode" No problem, and sorry for getting defensive, I was just confused because I was sure I had never mentioned Robert. Thanks for that tip, I'll be sure to use it.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) It's important to note that you substantially edited the opening post to this thread. Can mods/admins check edit history? I hope they can, because I never once mentioned Luis Robert. I edited the link to the podcast and took out an unnecessary period, if you must know.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:51 PM) The timeline is typically bastardized in these situations. Confirmation bias has a strong pull. I never mentioned Luis Robert, I know Law doesn't like him (although he hasn't seen him play) for whatever reason. I was referring to the podcast and tweet from today.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:38 PM) You do know he's kidding, right? He's been getting tweets from Sox fans all day asking why he hates the Sox because they read his write-up on Robert whom he's been less than impressed with since this whole thing started. It's still unprofessional to even jokingly write something that would destroy a lot of your credibility.
  8. I know it's often debated whether or not Keith Law actually has a bias against the White Sox. However, today, he tweeted this: keithlaw‏Verified account @keithlaw Just sent out the latest edition of my email newsletter, titled "Here's why I hate the White Sox." Sign up at http://tinyletter.com/keithlaw ------------------------------ And he and Chuck Garfein got into it starting around the 8:30 mark here. Law got quite angry. I just find the whole situation interesting.
  9. Arrested Development season 5 on Netflix next year. Apparently, the first 3 seasons are being removed on the 26th of this month, so that sucks.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) 2 eps into the new season of Master of None and digging it so far. QUOTE (Brian @ May 19, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) I'm in the minority but I though the last two episodes of this season were pretty dull. I really disliked it but as the season progressed it started to grow on me. Disappointed to hear that season 3 won't be out for a long time.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 22, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) Shocking development Well that was unexpected. Luis Robber?
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ May 22, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) White Sox confirmed it's Robert as in Robert Kennedy but, Badler today said the announcers mostly said it as Robert too, it just got confused when people assumed it was Robert due to it being of norman origin/latin/french pronunciation likely in Cuba. Ok, so next question. Pronounced "Lou-ees" or "Lou-ee"?
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) The t is pronounced for everyone named Roberto. But when a Spanish word ends in a t, it's generally not pronounced
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 22, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) Why are other people pronouncing it like he's a Frenchman? I mean, Ro-bare is also the hispanic way of pronouncing it.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 22, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) ...don't you repeatedly say that we just need to SPEND SPEND SPEND instead of getting prospects? Maybe he saw the light!
  16. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 22, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) I'm skeptical of the White Sox signing anyone to long term deals right now outside of the future core. How dare you? Avi is at the forefront of said core.
  17. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 22, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) It took an hour and ten minutes before S&P learned to pronounce his last name Chuck Garfien said it's pronounced like "Robert" in David Robertson, but others are saying "Ro-bare", so I still don't know how it's supposed to be pronounced.
  18. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ May 22, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) I'd keep Avi playing for his next contract for as long as humanly possible. He seems like the type to mail it in once he gets a big deal. I would honestly say the exact opposite. There's not a harder worker on the team, and it's been that way since the day we traded for him.
  19. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 21, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Pretty sure we all would do Robertson for Soto straight up Eh... he has a little more value than that. Especially since we're probably eating some of his contract. Maybe add someone like Severino to that as a sweetener.
  20. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 21, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) kinda surprised this wasn't posted anywhere.... from two days ago Chuck Garfien ✔ ‎@ChuckGarfien The Washington Nationals have a crush on the White Sox bullpen. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/865795125825466368 I mean, it's not news. It's just Garfien making a (probably accurate) joke.
  21. QUOTE (spiderman @ May 21, 2017 -> 12:02 AM) I heard on another site that Keith Law wouldn't have him in the Top 100. Well, he's Keith Law.
  22. QUOTE (spiderman @ May 20, 2017 -> 11:59 PM) I'm no expert, but given his contract, and his up/down performance, is Robertson really going to get the White Sox more than salary relief and maybe a mid level prospect? I don't doubt a team like Washington will trade for him, somebody will, but isn't he under contract for $10M this year this year and next season (obviously this season is probably down to $5M or so by the time July comes).....Is the contract not a big deal anymore given other contracts? I think that his being a reliever adds value instantly. I mean, even though he's only signed through 2018, relievers tend to get crazy hauls at trade deadlines compared to starters or position players. I think he could get a top-100 guy if the other team eats his salary, or if we pair him with a Swarzak/Kahnle or eat some money, a top-30 guy.
