  1. Kosuke Fukodome was on the team, people. The article writer and commenters of the article fail to realize this
  2. Actually, once I posted something about Abreu and another user asked me why I was typing in 3rd person. This was just a couple weeks ago. Wasn't really my idea nor do I enjoy doing it/think it's funny, but if I don't make a comment about me talking in the 3rd person, some smartash will do it and it just becomes a big cycle.
  3. I am releasing an official media statement on those complaining about my username shortly.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) He's going to have a 40/40 year. 40 HR and 40 RBI. Because of our lineup
  5. I thought he got married in October. Oh well. Congrats Gordon
  6. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 11:18 PM) Yes, heres to hoping he defects next year and Dayan proves he is a capable ML hitter and moves over to DH Isn't Alfredo getting old for a max contract in MLB? Is he 28 yet?
  7. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) 290/360/520 25HR 9%BB 18%K Alfredo Despaigne? Is that your picture?
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) I have noticed that as well. They have a bunch of retreads coming to camp with them. A guy who would make a lot of sense would be an Eric Chavez type. I believe Chavez signed back with the D-back. We have Conor Gillaspie. He's kind of like Chavez. He doesn't field as well or hit as much but he is LH and he stands by 3B. Gillaspie and De Aza for a scrub

  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) You, Mr. Abreu... Are a pure hitting beast. You're more than just a power guy. You'll hit at least .280 and will easily aproach 25 doubles and 25 bombs. I suspect however, that you'll far surpass those marks in what will be a fine rookie season. Thank you hi8is. Also, did you edit my quote?
  11. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 06:56 PM) I think .260 with 20 HR. I think he starts slow at AAA or platoon at IB /DH in Majors. Then produces 2nd half of season. Is a AAA start even an option? And don't start screaming Puig. We're paying Abreu far more.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) I wonder how many times Steve Adams has seen him play. I bet less than 10 games. Nobody has really seen him play. I guess if you don't count those YT videos of him hitting a few bombs in the WBC.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Cespedes came over and hit .292/.861 OPS as a rookie. Struggled more last year but still hit .240 with his numbers really being knocked down by strikeouts. The consensus I saw was that Abreu had a much better approach and eye at the plate than Cespedes. If he hits .240 and strikes out 130+ times, yeah I'm probably going to be disappointed. 130+? I've seen several ESPN/MLBTR guys label him as a 200 K guy.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Elliott's source also outlined what Tanaka will be seeking from potential suitors. "Tanaka wants to go to a World Series, wants a city where his family will feel at home since they don’t speak English. He has a desire to be on a team with potential to win and loves the pressure." Chicago fulfills that. I feel like it depends if the Sox can sell him on Sale/Q/JDA/Avi/Eaton/Davidson being the core of a contender. Yes, Chicago fulfills that, but so does New York, LA, Boston, etc.
  15. What numbers do you think Abreu will put up? It seems like when we signed him, many experts said he'll come right in rookie year and hit .280 with 35+ home runs. Now, however, those general expectations have changed to a 30 HR/ 85 RBI/ .225 AVG. In fact, I was in an MLB Trade Rumors chat with Steve Adams a few weeks ago, and he said he'd be surprised if Abreu hit over .245. Is this just a result of the hype dying down, or was Abreu really being that overrated when we signed him?

  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) 5 years when he's a flop. +1
  18. It should be Sale, Garcia, and me.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 12:02 AM) Ill put it out here so my box doesnt keep filling up. I've heard from my contacts that the Sox think they may be able to afford him, however it it breaks 20 mil annually, they are out. Translation: They are out.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) The posting fee Does not count towards the luxury tax according to multiple internet sources. The only thing that counts towards the tax is the money paid to him directly through whatever contract he signs. OK, so then they have enough money to sign him.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 10:56 AM) So, prior to today, the Yankees would have been $0.2 million over the luxury tax when they completed Roberts's deal. The Yankees appear to have $27.3 million to spend this year without hitting the luxury tax level. So does that include the $20MM posting fee?
