Let's all laugh at this Facebook comment: "Jack Morris shouldve made it! He had the most wins in the 80s!"

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 06:08 PM) Needless to say... Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 14m While it has been reported White Sox are meeting with Tanaka this week, they wouldn't be considered major players there at this point Expand I mean, we can't just be meeting with him for the hell of it. Let's at least give the Yankees a challenge.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) Spitballing here. What about Erik Johnson and Alejando De Aza to the Padres for Grandal? I like it but they wouldn't go for that

Astros C Jason Castro
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 02:42 PM) That's Tim Beckham, former 1st pick overall. Yes, but the name of the person who asked the question was Gordon Beckham.

In an MLBTR live chat, Steve Adams said that he thinks Jose Lobaton would be a good fit here. http://www.coveritlive.com/index2.php/opti...m/titlePage=off

OT but not deserving of a thread, how come I can't see my sent messages even though I know I've sent a few today?

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 5, 2014 -> 08:37 AM) Soxtalk's administrators don't like for us to do this, as it can ultimately get this site in trouble. If anyone wants to share, do it via a few select snippets and paraphrasing My bad. I tried looking up a bunch of ways to read it for free, but they didn't work. I seriously considered buying a one-month membership just to read it, but then realized I could ask an Insider.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) It's weird when you refer to yourself in the third person. I'm sorry, I'm typing through a translator. Sé español.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) The Tribune writer's picks are in: Voting for 6, 7, or 8...I just don't get it. Some truly awful ballots. https://twitter.com/RRepoz I wouldn't be surprised if Fred Mitchell voted for Kent as a favor to Mark Gonzales, who is a Bay-area backer. It's crazy that people with such terrible ballots can vote.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Abreu will play until the Sox feel he needs a break. Abreu will play 145 or more games this season barring injuries. We're not paying him what we're paying him so that he gets front row seats to games.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) So what do you think the Sox record will be with Konerko on the roster vs. without? Isn't that the bottom line? I don't think it makes much of a difference. It's not like he's holding us back from winning 90 games/ making us win 90 games. I say 74 wins with him, 75 without him. Nothing too major.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) Pitchers and catchers report in 6 weeks. So we got that going for us, which is nice. We've had quite the offseason so far. Hopefully more to come.

Scott Downs signing official, Santos Rodriguez DFA'd
O'Flaherty AND Downs would be a pretty damn good lefty corps
-
Hahn's next move?
I still believe one of Dunn or Keppinger will be traded for next to nothing.
-
Hahn's next move?
Yeah, Elmore is a good asset. He and Leury would be on the utility man all-star team.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 11:15 AM) Everyone seems like like that theory, but the reality is that Beckham has played zero innings at SS in his ML career. There's no indication at all that the team believes he can play there. 6 innings**
-
Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Probably easier for him to pick up a few AB's as a corner OF than to expect him to pick up SS. We need to clear up some space, though. Konerko and backup catcher already (likely) take up half of our bench spots. It's between Gillaspenger, L. Garcia, Semien, De Aza, and JorDanks.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) His defense didn't "suck" last year. It wasn't his best season but it was still really good at a tough position. People describe Beckham's defense as good and he's never had a single season where he's been as effective on defense as Alexei was last year. Maybe it didn't suck, but it wasn't as good as his previous years, and he had 22 errors coming off a season in which he had 12.

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) From there you shop Alexei, Beckham, DeAza, and Gillaspie, and if you get a good deal for any of those guys you take it. If not, you're looking at a seriously limited bench, losing an extra pitcher, etc. I think that this board in general undervalues Alexei. I would not want to see him traded unless we get a VERY good return. He hit .275-.285, steals bases, and (excluding 2013) occasionally hits home runs (15 HRPY). Yes, his defense sucked this year, but it's been good in the past and I think it will rebound.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) If Davidson makes the team and the Sox dump Dunn: C - 2 of Flowers/Nieto/Phegley/Someone else we bring in 1B - Abreu, Gillaspie DH - Viciedo, Paulie 2B - Beckham, Leury, Keppinger, Semien, Carlos Sanchez/non-roster invitee SS - Alexei, Leury, Semien, Carlos Sanchez/non-roster invitee 3B - Davidson, Gillaspie, Keppinger, Semien LF - DeAza, Viciedo, Gillaspie probably, Leury CF - Eaton, Danks, Leury RF - Avisail, Danks Does Gillaspie play LF?
