  1. They're announcing it now per Dan Hayes
  2. And for those of you saying that he's immediately part of the Sale/Garcia/Quintana/Me core...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 3m #whitesox also give up player to be named or cash considerations in addition to Santiago. Maybe Hahn knows something we don't about Eaton, because we sure paid a hell of a price for him IMO.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) We've made a big move, in fact, you're our big move. *tears up* Thank you. But I meant to say trade. I would've liked this if we got Kendrick AND Eaton (would've had to give up someone else obviously)
  5. I'm fine with the Santiago for Eaton idea but what I'm not fine with is management's idea that this is our big move. (KW said this will definitely excite fans)
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) Me either. He is really f'in good. That said, if the Dbacks were ever dumb enough to offer some of the sillier deals thrown out here, I'd pull the trigger if I were Hahn. Say, Bradley, Skaggs, Gregorious, Trahan and Davidson for Sale and Alexei - just fills so many holes. But, that's not happening. Nope, that's not enough. I know that is picky but if we're trading Sale we're not doing so for that group (as good as they all are).
  7. Chuck Garfein: White Sox were close to trading one of their pitchers but the other team chose to acquire a position player instead.
  8. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Just a guess but coming off TJ surgery and being 30, my guess is the Sox convert him to a reliever. Just a hunch. Good to see more activity. I like this signing and Paulino's enthusiasm over it. Don't we already have a surplus of righty relievers as is?
  9. This team did everything but make an impact. So I'd make a better slogan.
  10. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Jose, correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you're referring to how Beckhamn sped through the minors in less than 2 full seasons and then fans creamed their jeans thinking he was ready for the big league club but really wasn't ready. Not putting words in your mouth. This really is similar in the sense that like Beckham in 09, it appears Semien in ready to make the jump but a look at his AAA stats after his promotion from AA dictate he should have more time so we don't have a repeat of what happened to Beckham. I think Semien will have a place on this team in the near future but let's not rush him since there's players to be moved first and its not like the Sox are expected to be all that competitive with the current roster at this time. http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXminorsXXplayer.cg...p;t=all_batting QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 07:59 PM) Considering pundits, analysts, fans (myself included) and players were all saying Gordon had multiple MVPs in his future, I'll hold off on Semien hype. StRoostifer, yes I am. He was ready, but not for a full season, as was clearly proven the following year. Quinarvy, that's exactly my point. We were all high on Beckham and now everyone wants him traded.
  11. Remember how Gordon Beckham put up very good numbers during his rookie season? We were treating him like Semien is being treated now. Then he came out and became the Gordon Beckham we all know today. Beckham got "figured out" just like Semien will.
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) Ya, Veal was actually pretty good the final 2 months last year as well, with just 3 runs in his final 16 innings. I'd like for the Sox to add another LH arm for the pen, but if they don't plan on competing then it doesn't hurt to go with just Veal and maybe Leesman down there. Whenever I think about Veal I think about that Sunday FOX game in Los Angeles where he allowed that terrible home run.
  13. I think that Semien is being overrated on this board. Sure he played well but his minor league numbers are not very attractive, plus pitchers started to figure him out towards the end of the season. I see Gordon Beckham as his ceiling.
  14. Beckham's wife*** and also why did A.J. have to let her on? Why is it on him? I never ever heard the story
  15. Yankees receiving significant interest in Gardner according to MLBTR
  16. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) Count me in. Wonder what it would take? They'll probably want Q back. Or Santiago/Danks
  17. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Getting Franklin from Seattle for something centered around Dunn and Santiago is wishful thinking right? For Dunn AND Santiago, I think it's a possibility
  18. Now that the Yankees have Beltran, Ellsbury, Wells, Gardner, and Soriano, they'll probably make a trade. I'll gladly take Brett Gardner off their hands.
  19. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) You would have to get someone with ace potential in return. It is a gamble, but you plug a lot of other holes by making that gamble. Right, but that someone would probably not come up right away, leaving what I said as our 2014/15 rotation
  20. I still don't like how our rotation would look if Sale were traded. I wouldn't want Jose Q as a #1. Same goes for Danks, Santiago, and Johnson.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Now I know why u guys didn't like my haiku format of posting when I used to do that. It seems kind of weird to see my haiku format in print. This is a haiku. Five then seven syllables. That was a haiku.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Now I know why u guys didn't like my haiku format of posting when I used to do that. It seems kind of weird to see my haiku format in print. That wasn't a haiku, though.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) And "some" people are stupid QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) That's just silly. Well tell that to them. I'm with you guys but I've been attacked on this board by people who think that way.
  24. Have we forgotten about the promising arm of Kevin Vance?
  25. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Furthermore, Belisario was frequently tardy to the clubhouse on days of games, particularly when the start time was early. http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgersnow/l...y#ixzz2metKkOtD So they're saying he was a"flake". I mean whatever this isn't the NBA. We have 25 players, we can afford for one to be a "flake". Right?
