Whisox05 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Carlos Sanchez is really bad Yes he is. Agan kinda funny some peeps on this board thought he should play every day. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) The lack of rumors is kind of puzzling. Very. Realize the white sox broke the duke trade. They must be incognito.

Bud Norris just got pulled from game for injury. Maybe Dodgers get more desperate

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) Comes from both. Obviously Reinsdorf has ultimate say, but it's up to Hahn & KW to convince him that going for it in 2017 in a foolish strategy. Hahn probably wants to rebuild. We know jerry doesnt and kenny is always going for it. Kinda fighting a up hill battle for hahn

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Jay Bruce has a significant edge in power, but is far worse at contact and getting on-base. They'll fairly close as hitters IMO. However, Bruce has actually been worse defensively. If I were a GM, I would definitely prefer Melky over Bruce but that's just me. But bruce is a run producering bat. As you see from the white sox stand point having Melky and having lack of running producing bats have seriously hurt the white sox offense. Again melky is a complimentary piece to a line up. Say you add melky to bostons lineup would work cause they have good bats to go along with him

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) We just traded for a 4th OF type and he was ranked as our 5th best prospect by MLB.com. That should be a wake up call to everyone that this organization doesn't have the resources needed to put together a winning team anytime soon. We need to blow it up whether or not Hahn & KW are in charge or not. But again that comes down from jerry not hahn or kw choices or whoever

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) That's not surprising. Hahn might have more takers this winter. I hope that the Sox are able to at least move Shields and Robertson for something of value. Yes but not alot of teams has what it takes to acquire sale or Quintana. Going to be most likey same teams now that are in contention and the off season. Boston, texas, dodgers and now the yankees are probablya few of the teams that have resources to acquire sale or q. Not sure really any other teams that can.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Why is Bruce getting all this buzz while there's been basically nothing on Melky? Seems like Cabrera is arguably the better player, surprised there haven't been more rumors on him. Melky is a nice all around player. Would be a complimentary player for a team. Bruce is a run producing bat that can help put you over. Unfortunately hes not a good fielder. I would think melky would have interest. Hes been the most consistent hitter for the sox.

dodgers talking about archer and/or moore from TB, as @jaysonst @Ken_Rosenthal said. not much Sale talk around LAD lately https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/759805621571059712
-
Was told the same as @Ken_Rosenthal: No trade happening with Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo, two Dodgers prospects out of their AA lineup. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/759804716826128385
-
So are they pulled or just randon day off lol
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) See, this is where I get confused...we hear that we're asking for too much when we ask for Urias/Bellinger/Verdugo in a Sale or Q deal...but then you talk about Bellinger and Verdugo for Bruce? It seems like there is a rapidly diminishing point of returns or something... Maybe just days off for Verdugo and bellinger but cant be parts for bruce. Those guys are top 100 prospects. There was talk of dodgers with lucroy and also reddick/hill.

Opinion is Charlie Tilson definitely can handle CF. "Speed player that can run the ball down." Average over power. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/759793980003475456

Heard from pair of scouts that Charlie Tilson has plus speed, is a good defender with discipline at plate. Bat is the question. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/759792804495261696

If my info is correct and Tilson is activated, I assume this means the JB Schuck era on the South Side has come to a completion #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/759791110248017920

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Lucroy vetoed the trade wow!! Jonathan Lucroy has exercised his no-trade clause and vetoed trade from #Brewers to Indians. Details to come. https://twitter.com/Haudricourt/status/759763826631905280

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) yeah they are definitely trading more the purge: white sox edition is in effect for the next 29 hours. stay indoors... upgrade your security systems... and for the love of god, arm yourself! I know im ready for the purge lol

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Yeah, the thing with Duke is, he is one of the guys you don't have to move just to move...because you're going to need pen arms next year and he would be just as attractive at next year's deadline as this year's (if not more). Maybe they actually like this guy, because there was no reason to give Duke away.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) I'd deal Sale now and look into dealing Quintana in the offseason. The big difference between these two guys is stuff and the potential to dominate a playoff game or series. As good as Q is, if I needed a starter for a one game playoff (as the Red Sox would at the moment), it's going to be hands down Sale. The same goes for any playoff series, as Sale simply has the stuff to carry a team in October. The idea of having Sale for four post-season runs has to be incredibly attractive to the Red Sox as it fits perfect with their core of position players. Quintana, on the other hand, is the definition of durable/reliable top of the rotation starter. While he would no doubt help a team in the playoffs, his value is in his ability to greatly help a team get there. With an extra year of control and ever more team friendly contract, there should be plenty of interest in him from both large and small market teams. I would rather have as many suitors as possible, including the losers in the Sale sweepstakes, bidding on him. That requires dealing him in the offseason. Not against dealing him now if blown away, but I think you're better off putting teams against one another for Sale than having teams competing for two similar assets. The idea there can only be one winner should drive up the return. Wasnt trying to say let teams bidding for both players. Was saying when there is a bidding war for sale them and who ever loses hopefully they go for Quintana next. Yes more teams can bid in off season but sox are treating Quintana as ace as well the as they should so probably most teams wont have the resources to get him. Its going to be a limited market on both
