White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
#WhiteSox will have opportunities to move Zach Duke, who leads AL with 48 appearances. Signed for $5.5M next year. Many teams want LH pen. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/756165236009291776

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) What sense does it make to move a reliever or two only to try again next year? You cannot just easily fix this mess. We're not going to improve via FA, or unloading more prospects (the few we have) for talent. It's a shame Sale likely won't reach the playoffs with this team, but that's not his failt. Hahn needs to think sensibly and understand the position we're in. Take one step back for two steps forward. If we can improve across several positions by trading Quintana or Sale, it must be done. I mentioned before in another thread, the sentiment of selling at this point is largely supported by Sox fans. I haven't read one goof mention anything about White Flag or bring up past instances of teams overcoming the odds to make the playoffs, which have overwhelmed this board in the past years. We're all tired of the same "one more year to compete," "rebuilding on the fly," nonsense. Knock it down, learn our lessons, and start over. Again thats starts with Jerry on what the sox do. If he wants to try to win they will do so without burning up the minors.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
Sources continue expressing doubt #WhiteSox will move Sale or Quintana. That said, #Dodgers have pieces to make overwhelming offer. @MLB https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/756143995336597505 Kershaw may be needing surgery and possibly wont be back this year.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
I am getting indications that the #WhiteSox may be re-considering their stance of being "non-sellers" in the coming weeks https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/755925692064358400 I won't name teams/players yet but have gotten semi-specific details https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/755926096881868800

What to do at the Trade Deadline
QUOTE (Policiious @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) 1) Saladino will not be a starter for this team and I get it that you need quality backups but Hill is a pitcher that could be signed for a 2 year deal at a reasonable price. He's 36 and having a heck of a year (9-3 2.25 era) 2nd lowest ERA in the AL for a starter with 14 or more starts. a 9-3 record on a team that is 10 games or more below .500 is a heck of an accomplishment. Rodon does not seem to be ML material to me, just an opinion. If they could get Hill for Garcia and Saladino, what would your thoughts be? I want to add an arm to the rotation before trading Quintana. The team does not score enough and the only way they are going to get decent position players with quality bats is by parting with a top line starter (Quintana). I believe Hill can be persuaded to sign a 2 year deal at this age and at a reasonable $12-$15M salary. Remember the Sox are cutting off alot of payroll after this year with Latos, danks, rolllins, possibly Morneau and of course no more buyout for the ex starting SS of $1M and the ex DH who retired at the start of this season who could not hit, another $13M savings. That's a total of $35M in total lost payroll, which leaves them with alot of $ to sign talent if there is a fit. Yep Braun is on the wrong side of 30 but still a heck of a player, add LuCroy, him and Hill and IMO the lineup is much better, they are better defensively and the rotation is still solid Why pay that much for a 36+ year old hill and with the market being crap next year hes probably going to get more then that. Rodon is cheaper and still under control for a while and younger. Who in the sox system after trading rodon is capable of getting lucroy let alone anyone else extra

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) Frazier's the guy who will bring something back. Abreu has Rios numbers right now. I just can't get over getting Vogelbach for a middle reliever. I know he has no real position, but we are a bit lacking at DH. That's org building without even really selling. Hahn and Williams need to be looking around and open for business now. They're slow decision makers as it is, but it's time for them to face reality. Its not hahn or Williams who need to face reality it jerry

What to do at the Trade Deadline
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) This organization is starting to draft better the past few seasons. I think they could sell high on some guys and do well. The key would be the lesser known guys they scout and how many they could hit on. I'm down on Hahn and have gone back and forth. I just don't want them to buy. I think they could move guys like Melky, Frazier and Robertson and do well at the deadline. Then wait til offseason to move the one or both of the main studs. Not sure Sale would want to be part of a rebuild. Q might be more willing and you would get a better package from Sale so moving Sale might be the better option if you don't move both. Ideally, you should move both. I'm just speaking hypothetically about if Sale would or wouldn't want to be part of the rebuild obviously. If the Sox are going to move the likes of frazier, melky, Robertson, etc they should go into full rebuild. Sox dont have anyone internally that can really fill those positions. saladino would either play 3rd or Lawrie gets moved there and saladino goes to 2nd. Im not sold on saladino being a every day player especially if you are tryng to contend. outfield would be eaton, shuck and Garcia till jackson comes back. Thats not very good. Mostly likey jackson is gone after this season and probably so is garcia. Thats 2 spots to fill and next yrs free agent class isnt good. Sale has stated he wants to win and i highly doubt he wants to sit through a rebuild for whats left of his contract with the sox. Frazier, melk and Robertson should bring back prospects but not the quality or quantity sale, Quintana or even abreu would command. If they start selling go full rebuild, dont half do it

What to do at the Trade Deadline
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) I wondered this morning if the media and fan pressure will sway the Sox FO in what they are going to do next. Historically they seem to be pretty reactionary and do pay careful attention to all that stuff. Ya last year im sure most fans wanted to sell off and they had worst record then this year and they still tried to add. Dont think fans or media have any indication on what which direction the team should go. Its up to jerry and he wants to win so they will probably try to add

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Cub fans are just dying to see the Sox "blow it up" and become bottom dwellers for the forseeable future. Admit it if that is what you want to see. The fact is that not every team that fails to make the playoffs is going to blow it up, try to get the highest Draft pick by having the worst record in baseball, and hope a budding star is available with that high pick that will turn the whole franchise around. The suggestion to trade Sale is a non-starter. He is a franchise player which means his value supersedes hos value on the field. His name is on countless fans jerseys and he has become synonymous with the White Sox. He ain't goin' nowhere. And neither is Quintana, Rodon Fulmer or Nate Jones. The pitching core stays for stability of the team and the franchise. Sale will be going somewhere after the 2019 season. Thats three and half ish years. Sox dont give out large contracts and long ones so i really dont see them keeping sale. So thats means probably dealt sometime before hand to get something for him then let him walk for nothing

Chris Sale to Astros potential package?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) Castro seems like a fair return If you are talking about Jason castro that would be stupid since hes a free agent at the end of the year. Include someone else and just sign castro in offseason

Abreu has chased 306 pitches out of the strike zone and leads the majors in that category. He needs to adjust that or hes going to get worse

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Hahn needs to get fired after this year. Just can't build a winning team or build up the farm system. Hahn was given a crap of a team and minors to deal with and still has to go through the former gm of the team and a aging owner who probably cant live to see a rebuild. Hahn is stuck in a rock and hard place

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) They will lose if they sell. For maybe a long time. Trading Sale doesnt = winning baseball. Really trading anyone on the roster doesnt equate to more wins. Not in the near future and potentially long term future. Sox havent been winning much with sale on the team. Its not sales fault its not putting a good product around him. The question is when you get to a point if you aren't going to win with sale do you let him walk and get nothing back or better off trading him to get sime that may help.
