  1. Miguel Gonzalez's deal doesn't include an opt-out. He's headed straight to Triple-A Charlotte. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/717140969875845120
  2. Man sox got screwed in april. One day off and royals get 5 days off. Sox are going to need to come out strong in april.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) It would be delicious crow if he puts six good months together, with passable defense. I think most of his playing time comes from dh. Sox really need him to produce and hopefully he will.
  4. QUOTE (professa @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) Not that we haven't seen this already this spring, but Robin confirms Rollins will bat 2nd and Melky will bat 5th start the season. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/716333332192043008 I honestly agree with this. Melky down in the order gives a switch hitter and gives him chance to be more of a run producing bat.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Avi homer He's had a pretty good spring. Should be getting a ton of at bats
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Wish I could watch this Ya I wish these 2 games were on tv.
  7. I think that 25 spot changes tho after the off day. There was talk that they will probably been needing to go to a 13th pitcher with the 17 straight games. So I'm guessing someone time on the roster is temporary
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) I'd DH him over Avi. He hits righties OK. While his pitches per plate appearance tend to be league normal, he has great career (& recent years) contact rates - out of zone, in zone, all of it. They aren't going to move avi to the bench. They need to see if Avi stance helps him to produce. He's going to get plenty at bats. Don't know why everyone wants to reduce avi time as much as possible right away.
  9. QUOTE (Lillian @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) How about one bullpen arm and Lawrie, for a left handed bat, that some team wants to unload as a salary dump. The Sox have salary room. I'd much rather have the strong defense up the middle, and a middle of the order left handed bat. Ethier would have been a candidate for such a trade, but the injury killed that. For me, this is more about liking Sanchez, than disliking Lawrie. I have the feeling Carlos is ready to contribute. Don't think the Sox are just going to turn around and trade off Lawrie. Let's to remember sox had the worst offense production last year at 2nd and Sanchez was a major contributor.
  10. Sox will go with 12 pitchers, Ventura said. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/714887560812560384
  11. Sox will go with 12 pitchers, Ventura said. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/714887560812560384 I'm guessing Ishikawa gets last spot
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) Giving Davidson a spot on the 25 man roster because of a hot spring would be stupid as all hell. Especially as you'd be asking him to play 2-3 times a week at absolute most. No, if he's really "figured something out" then you ask him to go down to Charlotte and play everyday for a couple months and yea if he's slashing 280/340/500 down there in June then you think about calling him up. I agree. He needs to be playing everyday to show that he's progressing. Dh is pretty much avi's so there is no spot for him
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) The main reason I prefer Saladino to Rollins is defense. Not that Rollins is bad defensively, but Saladino is just elite in that regard Would rather be running Rollins in my opinion then saladino. Saladino is better defensively but sox need every ounce of offense as much as possible. Rollins has done it in the past. He's a veteran and has ton of experience. If Rollins can't cut it then you have you have saladino to back him up.

  15. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) Well he's having a good spring. Why not bring him up to DH? He said when he first came here and didn't make the team it messed him up. He seems to have confidence right now. I hope it doesn't destroy it. That's my rationale. Avi is pretty much your dh first now. Playing Melky, Jackson and eaton in outfield improves defense. Dan hayes says avi will get alot of at bats and that's probably at dh. If Davidson can't get consistent at bats then he needs to be in minors showing he's progressed. If Avi doesn't get the job done everything then bring up Davidson
  16. Jake Peavy told reporters he told Travis Ishikawa not to read too much into Mat Latos' outing because mound was that bad today. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/714224658950664192

  18. Latos moved over four or five inches on the rubber during his last bullpen so that might take a little getting used to. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/714222397725876224

  20. Mat Latos said results have been horrible. But, he's also confident it only takes one good bullpen, one good outing to get back on track. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/714220234610073601
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) I mentioned this before, but the only factor I could see the Sox taking 13 pitchers is if rain is in the forecast for Oakland on Wednesday, April 6. Unless I'm missing something with the 26th man rules, if the Wednesday game got rained out and the Sox were forced to play two on Thursday, they would have to do that without a 26th man. Right now, the forecast is cloudy with a chance of rain throughout that series. Figure you have 7 straight games to start off then an off day and then another 19 straight.

If the Sox were fully confident that that starters are going at least 7 innings then you might not need the extra pitcher
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) He's saying if they decide to take Sands. Sands would likely be 4th bench guy depending on if there is an injury. Only other scenario I see where they take 13 pitchers and Sands is if Shuck doesn't make it. Shuck is making it before sands. If they take 13 pitchers then it's shuck, Saladino and one of the catchers is bench.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 04:33 AM) Fulmer sent down to minor league camp. 36 left. If Sands makes it, the 11 left to be cut are: Carroll, Kahnle, Turner, Aumont H Sanchez Davidson, L Garcia, C Sanchez, Ishikawa Coats, May Depends if they decide to take 13 pitchers
