  1. Maybe you were saying the reasonable things in the 1st paragraph...but not everyone, and I doubt it was even the majority. Hell, there were people talking about Mendick as if he was a decent player just last year. I get that its the internet and a message board, but this board’s knee jerk reactions seem to be high even for the internet’s standards. And why are you acting like Madrigal has been flat out awful at all times? He had a .370 OBP his 1st taste of the big leagues last year. Obviously he needs to cut down the errors, can’t have that. But there’s a huge middle ground between “hes hurting the team” and “he shouldn’t have been drafted that high”. I think people are having a hard time with that for Madrigal, and to a lesser extent Collins as well. And I’m not saying you can’t send him down if he keeps hitting this poorly, just saying that maybe 21 PA’s is a little too early to make this thread.
  2. I gotta say, it’s pretty funny seeing some of the same people that anointed the likes of Tyler Saladino, Nicky Delmonico and Daniel Palka as future starters after a small sample size then kill prospects after an even smaller sample size. I didn’t like the pick of Madrigal when it happened because I thought his ceiling was too low for a top 10 pick. But it is what it is now, throw the memory of what pick he was away. Last year he hit the ball very well, this year he’s struggled through 20 something AB’s. If there’s a reasonable middle ground of him hitting .300/.340 without the mental errors in the field we’ll be perfectly fine with him as a starting 2B. And I’m pretty confident he’ll be able to do that.
  3. The White Sox are a very fun team to watch. It’s game 3 of 162, relax man
  4. Horrible play by Luis, but is it just me or did Tim have absolutely no shot at that ball where he was calling it from?
  5. Lol wow Luis. Is the sky making the ball impossible to see or something? Makes no sense
  6. I could use a little Crochet and/or Kopech in my life...
  7. Clown. These posts are embarrassingly dumb. What weird bias do you have against Collins?
  8. Butterfly affect- Missed strike 3 by the umpire is going to cost us a full inning of bullpen work
  9. That change up is absolute filth
  10. Yeah I mean are we really believing anything this Hector Gomez guy says at this point? I’ll be happy if we can get Eloy back by late August to get AB’s in before the playoffs..assuming the Sox make it
  11. Just as you know I can’t find someone who has said publicly that he can catch, I know that you can’t find me proof that anyone has written him off as a catcher either... And to the bold- so he hasn’t proven anything, but you’re also completely unwilling to let him have a chance to prove himself? And for Jonathan Lucroy? Makes 0 sense to me, but to each their own...
  12. Collin’s inability to catch is greatly over exaggerated IMO. It was the narrative starting his career and people refuse to get off of it and acknowledge that he has indeed improved. We just need him to be average-above average in his limited time behind the plate and I don’t see any evidence that he can’t be. I know he’s not going to be a positive defensively, but you act like he’s going to hurt the team every time he catches and I just don’t agree.
  13. Or maybe they just found out that he’s completely washed up and not deserving of a major league roster spot? The rest of the league has seemed to agree for 2+ years now...
  14. Only saw a quick replay. Did Eloy ever end up being able to move his shoulder? Or are we looking at an obvious tear/dislocation that will keep him out?
  15. What has Collins done poorly behind the plate in ST to not earn the backup job? Seems like he’ll never get any credit.
  16. Fair enough, the time of game is indeed a problem as well. But I just don’t know how to make a significant impact on that without literally shortening the game. Maybe you can cut 15-20 mins, but is that really going to make a big difference? I feel like for baseball to be a daily weekday watch for casual fans they’d have to shorten the game at least a full hr. Not saying I’m against it, just don’t see it as feasible. Which is why I think trying to infuse more action into the game is a better bet
  17. Is the length of the game REALLY the problem? On average, NFL games are longer. Personally I think just trying to press fast forward on the game isn’t the right way to attack the issue. The amount of dead time where nothing is happening is what loses most casual fans. Need more balls in play, defense, and activity on the base paths. The “3 true outcome” mentality has been the bigger issue IMO. Not saying it’s wrong or should change, but If we’re talking about fixing baseball viewership I’d start with figuring out how to pick up the action. Not just speed up the same game.
  18. What it comes down to is when you are nowhere near the luxury tax and the owner is unwilling to spend an extra $18M (or so?) to seriously compete for a world series it’s a problem. I never expected Bauer but if we had Walker/Paxton + Brantley instead of Eaton I would have 0 complaints about the off season.
  19. People like to pretend that Colome wasn’t very good here because he doesn’t fit the advanced stats narrative, but but bottom line is that he was nothing but a top notch closer for the Sox. This is a great deal for any team and given the Jerry handicap on the team’s budget I thinks it’s fair to question the Hendricks contract Vs what Colome got paid...even tho there’s no denying Hendricks is better. Colome, Brantley, and Wacha or Hendricks and Eaton?
  20. Obviously a small 10 inning sample size, but I thought Collins looked perfectly fine last year. I’m not ruling him out as the backup at all.
  21. I have no problem with Rodon back. I just hope it doesn’t keep us from acquiring another SP...which I fear it will
  22. I just hope sitting on the market with no offers is a sobering wake up call for Carlos (if the rest of his career hasnt already been). Just put your head down, work hard, and be happy with any role you’re able to get. Whatever pick he once was is irrelevant, just another guy at this point....if not he’s going to find himself out of baseball sooner rather than later.
  23. He’s probably not “garbage dump” discussion, but is Taijuan Walker not a possibility? Too much $ or just no interest?...and should we have interest? Obviously the idea of him being a TOR arm is long gone, but signing him to be our 4th starter seems like a pretty good option. I assume something like 1 year for 10 mil would get it done
  24. While he’s obviously not as proven, at least Burnes has upside...I’m not buying last year’s small sample size- to me Gonzales is still the 190 inning 4 ERA guy he’s always been. Obviously that’s still a valuable pitcher, but just no way that type of pitcher is worth Madrigal, Heuer, Kelley + more. That’s crazy talk in my opinion. Seager brings nothing to the deal either and completely goes against the logic of budget being the issue. I’m not against trading prospects for a piece that can get us to the World Series, but Gonzales ain’t that.
