  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Pompey has some exciting skills. As for going after injured guys, I still love the idea of going after Stroman. As badly as the Sox need hitting and I would prefer they trade for it, would be difficult to pass on Stroman. That little guy is filthy! How close do you think Samardzija/Duke for Stroman would be?
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) What do the goggles have to do with it? They have everything to do with it because they are Magic goggles that allow Fulmer to peer into the mind of the hitter. Don't believe me? Just look at his numbers!
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 01:58 AM) After doing some research across the interweb it has become apparent to me that the 2016 draft's strength is pitching, so for those of you hoping for a bat, sorry. There are some really intriguing arms in both the college and prep ranks. Thanks for the buzz kill Joshua. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) if anything, this is the draft, 2016 for having comp picks. it will be a deep draft. my problem now, at this moment, no player is screaming elite skill. but that will change as cape cod comes around and latter when the ncaa season starts again. i am intrigue with some notable pitchers, but we shall see. talent wise, 2017 is the draft for me. but oh well. Hopefully the 2015 Cape and the 2016 college/prep seasons produce some hitting talent for next year's draft. If not, then the Sox draft another future front of the rotation stud with their inevitable top 10 draft pick.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 06:57 AM) If you trade Quintana is has to be for offense, whether that be a star or multiple prospects. Agreed. Wouldn't the point behind trading Q be to get players to help this offense now or the immediate future? The Nat's do make an interesting trade partner but if they want Q I think talks begin with Trea Turner and Jakson Reetz. Otherwise, there are 28 other teams in the league to talk with.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) Sadly, both had the talent/ability to be much frontline starters but injuries derailed their careers, especially Wright's. Once he lost his stuff, he couldn't adjust. Danks is more reminiscent of Jim Parque against Mike Cameron than 2008 Blackout Game Danks. Lmao! I was at the game Cameron smacked 4 HR's. Well, I'm g!ad tonight's game is finished. Hopefully Samardzija pitches well again tomorrow.
  6. Fulmer goes 7.2IP 2H 0R 2BB 8K Get that contract signed!
  7. Curious to see if Fulmer comes out for the 8th. Edit: curiosity has been answered.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) "Thank god the best college pitcher fell to the Sox two years in a row" Yeah, that about sums it up.
  9. WOW! Just, WOW! Just do not know what else to say.
  10. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) Kid is just plain nasty, that knuckle curve wow! Holy s*** you're not kidding! Nice movement on the FB and Change too.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Sox have 10 hits and two walks and 2 runs?? How the hell is that possible (just tuned in)? Say hello to the 2015 White Sox offense. Thankfully Fulmer is pitching tonight so there's that.
  12. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:16 PM) They're stubborn about dead money And dead weight.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) I can't imagine Davidson ever making the majors at this point. I imagine Reed should still contribute at some point. Figures Davidson busts out the Sombrero after I wrote that post. As for Reed, I think chitownsportsfan pretty much summed up my feelings in his post. This is the second straight year of Reed regressing with this year being especially bad. At this point, there's really does not appear to be a winner in that trade.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Been saying all winter (as well as another poster) that they needed to trade Alexei one year early before it's one year too late. He has pretty much proved my point all year. Has really regressed. I know I was with you on that. I forget the thread title but it was when the Yanks and Mets were rumored to be looking for a SS. Uhg, watching this team can really put hurtin' on the eyes.
  15. Ouch. This headline says it all. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/...ed-to-triple-a/ At this point I'm happy to have Davidson.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) Oh I now remember that our phenom draft pick prospect is hurling. You are forgiven but should at least switch back and forth You read my mind because that's exactly what I'm going to do.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) Yes, that's what he throws. Btw, is he starting tonight? Sweet. Reminds me of Mussina. Yes, Fulmer starts tonight at 7PM CT on ESPN.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Why would you say that? I will be watching the White Sox game The pitcher on ESPN tonight is Fulmer.
  19. Came across this pic of Fulmer and noticed the grip he has on the ball. Is that the grip for a knuckle curve? http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/College...RMK1a4H_Ryl.jpg
  20. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) Nice! I'll be tuning in! It should be his last appearance in college before he joins the Sox. I'm with you! The wife and I are going to see the new Mad Max movie this afternoon and will be home just in time for first pitch. Really looking forward to seeing Fulmer's last start.
  21. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) College World Series starts tonight...does anyone know if Fulmer is starting game 1? Yes sir, Fulmer is tonight's starter for Vandy. 7PM start I believe.
  22. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) We have that now. It would be another guy who has to adjust the AL pitching. Yup. How many times have us Sox fans complained about players defensively having their heads up their asses? Now we want to add another? Lol. Good point on the adjustment to AL pitching.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) i understand what you and Balta are saying, but outside our present SS and who is at SS in the minors, Anderson being at least 2 more yr of development time, i was thinking, wouldn't he be a good replacement? If he wasn't such a bonehead on defense, yes he would be a good replacement. Castro has always had that problem and shows no signs of improvement. Sometimes he just looks like he is mentally somewhere else. Perhaps a tropical island in the sun? I do see your point though about the future at SS.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) the problem for me, is not knowing those advance stats. but for me, getting rid of danks and his salary vs who can help now and in the future at SS does that for me. it is a win - win situation. Excluding this year's salaries. Danks is owed 15.75M on the remainder of his contract while Castro is owed 40M+. I just prefer the Sox to have that financial freedom for future teams. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Not if Castro is performing like this. It actually would make us worse. Exactly. Castro's defense and lack of hitting this year does absolutely nothing to inspire me to trade for him.
  25. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) I would. In a minute. Castro isn't awesome and the way he acts isn't helping him but he's a decent SS on a great deal. John Danks is a decent person and getting paid like a great baseball player. I guess my point of view is their contract lengths. I would rather have Danks for the next 1.5 years than Castro for the next 4.5 years. I just do not trust Castro's defense and his bat has not been very good this year either. Castro is just too lackadaisical on defense. IMHO, I pass on him.
