  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:52 AM) nice post. btw i am not advocating on trading Sale. but a team who can win the series or have the opinion on their chances in winning the series, will sacrifice to get that extra little something special. in this case it is Sale. a team can rebuild the farm if they traded many key pieces to win. I know what you're saying, like you, I'm just entertaining the idea. A desperate team could come along but there would be a much bigger market for Sale in the off season when payrolls have opened up and teams are more flexible. Then it would turn into an all out bidding war with the luxury of keeping Sale if the bids are underwhelming. While the Sox are desperate for hitting talent, they are not desperate to give up Sale. He would cost dearly to acquire, lol.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 01:43 AM) You guys that despise Danks slay me. He's not that bad a pitcher. I think it's more to do with Danks 14.75M salary and his 5+ ERA.
  3. I doubt there's a team willing to take that kind of hit to their farm. If Sale was to be traded, it would likely be a three team deal. I understand the premise behind the idea of trading Sale, just do not see it happening. JR is 79 and wants to see another winner so I'd guess the rebuild on the fly theme stays par for the course. I suppose if I were in his shoes I'd feel the same way. If I were a 79 year old baseball team owner I probably would not have much interest in taking the time necessary to rebuild the farm, right. As a fan, I would rather make some trades and get some hitting talent into the system but as long as the Sox keep what few assets they have, it will be the same as it ever was.
  4. Thompson just hit a 3R HR. 2-4 2R 2HR 5RBI on the night. Buy that kid a beer.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) Who takes Rodon's next start if you've DFA'd the long reliever? The bat boy is on stand by. I forgot the Sox are talking about skipping Rodon's next start. I would let Rodon start Saturday and skip the following start with Danks filling in.
  6. Noesi and Boni DFA'd Danks to the pen with E. Johnson taking Danks next start on Monday against the Twinkies Micah recalled. This after Danks s***s the bed tonight against the Pirates.
  7. Danks on the hill and a five game losing streak should make it interesting to see how many people show up to US Cellular Ghost Town. Maybe the Sox can CGI a crowd into the background? Works in the movies.
  8. Thanks to all those updating the draft. Has there been any speculation to the money Fulmer might be looking for?
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:02 AM) He's not really wasting any service time though. They still have him for 6 seasons after this one. Yep and at some point Rodon will have to face the major league learning curve so since he's up with the Sox just leave him to his learning. Not like the Sox team is competing, lol. I completely expected to see Rodon go through some struggles and adjustments, he's only 22. Hell, this time last year he was not even signed yet and here he is.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) Send down Rodon while we're at it. Keep Rodon and call up his lucky charm Brett Austin.
  11. This was mentioned in another thread but release Noesi, Danks to the pen after tomorrow's start and call up Johnson. I have no idea what to do about the offense. I'm not against the idea of Davidson getting called up. At this point, I'd consider calling up Trayce Thompson who at least would give the Sox better defense in CF and surprisingly his bat has been better than expected at Charlotte. This offense has switched from suck to blow. A little shake up could not hurt the team any more than its already suffering.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) #RoadToWho???? Find out here... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95260 Seems we're behind.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) Beat you to it Oh you cheeky..... I think it's a solid idea. I doubt Johnson would pitch worse than Danks.
  14. Noesi- DFA Danks - goes the Edwin Jackson route Johnson - takes Danks place
  15. I'm very curious to hear the Cardinals respond. The penalty is going to be very interesting.
  16. White Sox Baseball is the equivalent of anti-viagra.
  17. BlackSox13 replied to harkness99's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Avi just turned 24 and is in what is hopefully his first full season. Offensively he has improved this year so his improvement is a nice bright spot despite slumping.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) I bet Noesi gets DFA after the game. It's not all his fault. They'll need relievers though because of a lack of off days. I always liked Carroll as a reliever. Surely an upgrade over Noesi but then again so would underhand 16" softball pitchers. I seriously do like Carroll as a reliever. I do not see what the Sox are holding onto here.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) I don't think it's a matter of the hitting coach. It's a matter of lack of concentration caused by lack of accountability. Admittedly, I am soft on Steverson because he preaches a good approach and he's the only non-insider on this staff. Can someone remind me again why Noesi is on this major league staff? I'm just having a little fun. Walt Hriniak couldn't help these guys. Don't have an answer to your question about Noesi. I don't get it either. Noesi has a Jaime Navarro-like ERA so he's got that going for him, which is nice.
  20. No worries, Steverson will fix the hitters.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) Astros don't have near the prospects to even start a conversation for Sale. Which is why I specified talent and not prospects. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) If the Astros asked about Sale, the price would start with Correra and McCullers and go on from there. Bingo! I do admit that it's likely the Astros look for a Samardzija/Leake type so they don't have to part with the likes of Correa, McCullers or Velasquez. Its easy to say trade Sale but its a different story when trying to figure out his real value. In the end he means more to the Sox due to the crazy haul it would take to get Sale.
  22. As was mentioned earlier this thread, the Astros are loaded as well. Not sure they would part with enough talent for the likes of Sale or Q.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:58 AM) I'm not even thinking about 2015...at least not after this next week of play. It's already onto planning for 2016. Nothing to panic about anymore....they essentially have the worst offense and defense in baseball, and unless they use surpluses in pitching (Samardzija/Quintana/Putnam/Duke/Petricka) to improve that standing, there's simply no way they're going to make the playoffs in 2016 other than "hoping and praying." Well, we found some common ground here. Agree with everything you say here. Again, I'm not against trading any player. Just do not know how to go about assessing Sale and Q values which is why I stay away from throwing proposals out there. You are right though. There is a big gap between the minor league talent and the majors with most of the talent at AA and below. That talent likely needs the 2016 season for further development so I'm not counting on the likes of Montas, Danish, Anderson or Fulmer for 2016 which means what we have at Charlotte is what we have to work with. Which leads to trade proposals to infuse talent into that gap. I really do get where you're coming from Caulfield and I admit that I've become enamored with the idea of a future rotation of Sale, Q, Rodon and eventually Fulmer. I'm sitting here trying to think what I would want in a return for Sale and I dont know what team or what players to begin with. Sale's value is unprecedented. I don't know if I would be asking for too much or likely not enough.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) Of course, he has plenty of value. But "our" version of plenty might not be another team's. At the end of 2014, his value was certainly higher than it is now...same with Eaton, Quintana, Samardzija and Abreu. The question is how much the White Sox are willing to "discount" from that established offseason rate. If it's 50 cents on the dollar, that's not going to help much for the future...it will just end up causing rebuilding to take that much longer. The answer is none. You do not discount the likes of Abreu, Sale and Q. You are coming from a perspective of desperation if you are willing to discount any of those three to trade them. Other teams would be desperate to obtain them and not the other way around. While the Sox season does not look good, no desperation move(s) will fix the teams problems in 2015. Just accept it. Talk about panic mode.
  25. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) If the Sox can dump Alexei, would anyone else be interested in buying low on Chris Owings? Why not, I think we have tried worse. Owings is supposed to be pretty good defensively. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) We have Tim Anderson. But Anderson is at Birmingham, needs lots of work on his defense and likely not considered to be ready until 2017. And there's no promise he sticks at SS. His development is not far enough along to count on just yet.
