Of course, that's why both of those guys have been very successful relative to their financial restraints. Has Hahn been successful with the constraints JR has given him? Just because JR is a cheap ass doesn't excuse Hahn from his terrible talent evaluation. I'm done talking Theo, if he was the Sox GM i'm sure he'd have a statue in the GSpots outfield concourse already.

He's a great GM dude, you saying he's average is just a hot take. If you can build a team from scratch you're a great GM, that's their #1 job. Theo has proven to be able to do this multiple times. You would think seeing first hand an FO struggle to field a .500 team would help highlight that.

I understand your point but to act like you're not trying to indirectly defend Hahn for his FA misfires by highlighting another VERY SUCCESSFUL GM's FA record is what I don't get. The point is Epstein has been able to create multiple competitive teams all while having big mistakes with FAs, meanwhile Hahn hasn't been able to build a a competitive team to date through the system or FA.

Your whole argument is we are wrong to elevate Theo even though he ended the sport's 2 longest Championship droughts and in a relatively short time. Tell me how, compared to the FO we have in place, we should not admire what he has done and wish we had a mind like his in our FO? Because he would have signed a few bad FA's trying to take his young, talented teams over the top? The worst stretch of Theo's career was only after he had already won 2 WS in Boston.

I understand the financial security but man this extension is horrible. I doubt Albies doesn't regret this when hes a 30 year old FA. He was worth almost 4 fWAR last year and at worst is a solid starter.

Lester anchored down the staff for a Cubs WS title, is that on par with what Abreu has done? He's a good FA signing and Hahn gets credit for taking advantage of a market with none of the big guns available to sign him (what a concept, amirite?) and KW fielded multiple teams that contended and had winning seasons, let me know when our "charasmatic" GM gets 1 under his belt, or should we just accept that all of the Sox prospects will struggle and the rebuild will be constantly pushed back? They operate with a bottom third payroll by choice, which is what I mean when I say they're all to blame equally. JR for cheapness, KW for what seems to be complacency and RH for just being a bad talent evaluator or trusting people that are. Just go look at the Rays/Cards and now Brewers and see how they get the most of out their talent on very limited financial flexibility. This FO should be embarassed.

Lester is the best FA signing in franchise history. That alone gives Theo a pass for doing everything in his power to try and build around a young core that they were bringing up at the time. Supplement the young, cheap talent. Really don't know how anyone can keep defending Hahn. The three headed monster in our FO is the #1 reason this rebuild is off the rails currently.
