  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) Apparently you missed the deals for Konerko to return for a farewell tour, Buehrle when it looked like a more questionable bet, Contreras after he was no longer dominant, Beckham this year again...an organization that can always be counted on for sentimentality if nothing else. Why are so many clamoring for AJ, Buehrle or even Uribe to return? Because it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. Yuck. I'm not.
  2. QUOTE (VAfan @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) I agree with this. Keeping Robin has pretty much sapped any enthusiasm I would otherwise have for this team making moves to get better. What I would do instead is try to increase the value of what we have. Keep LaRoche and hope for enough of a bounce back to make him tradeable at the deadline. Same for Alexei. Give Avisail another year to see if anything is there. But play Thompson ahead of him in the outfield. (I'd use Garcia as LaRoche platoon partner.) Trade Robertson to the Nats, who really need a proven closer and have lots of prospects. Move Montas into the pen and groom him as a closer. Put Erik Johnson into the rotation for a year to increase his value. Sign the best option at 3b who doesn't cost any picks or tie you up for years. Let Micah and Sanchez duke it out at 2nd again. Keep all picks. Well then you're still only going to win about 73 games next season.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:42 AM) I think he'll be back for sure but am up in the air on whether they'll accept the option. I'll guess no. Could always bring him back at a reduced rate to help with other acquisitions.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:27 AM) https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/661063917032988673 I vote no, but it will be yes. Me too. I think he'll stay. I hope we could find a better replacement. I know Tim is about a year away but I'd like to upgrade this spot for '16. Just don't know if there's really a better option right now. Maybe Desmond but he's coming off a down year offensively. He's an upgrade statistically but at what cost? That's my issue with Anderson looming.
  5. Well step one towards the '16 WS starts Friday. Get busy Hahn.
  6. This is what it'd be like if we got to the WS this season lol
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) Mets defense has choked all WS Yup but helluva base running by Hosmer.
  8. Gutty performance by Eddie all things considered.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Same here. I trust in Hahn's creativity but not Kenny's. Hopefully the Sox turn Hahn loose to see what he can do. IMO it's a big offseason because they had a big one last offseason so can't have a sign Jeff Kepp and lets get to '16. We have holes, while I know we can't fill them all, so we have to make some moves and be aggressive. The creativity I'm thinking about is getting an impact bat without moving Q or Anderson, and Montas. I could see getting Upton or Cespedes. I just don't see us breaking the bank for Heyward (my pipe dream).
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Hahn has said the Sox are looking for a 3B and they are rumored to be on the lookout for a catcher too. DH is a void no doubt but I've begrudgingly accepted LaRoche will be with the Sox in '16 so I leave that void out since there's literally no chance the Sox just cut him. Just gotta ride it out for one more season and hope LaRoche can give the Sox more than he did this past season. The Sox can definitely use another arm for more depth at SP but not sure if that's a good place to spend money with all the positional needs. 3B, C, SS, 2B and RF all under-performed in '15 so any kind of upgrade in any of those areas would be welcome. Hopefully Hahn will get creative and solve a few of the problems so we all can have a better outlook on the '16 season. I'm very intrigued to see what Hahn does and how creative he can be.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) In terms of FA outfielders, my wish list in order is Heyward, Upton, Gordon, Cespedes. I'm gun shy on Gordon because of his age. Plus I think there's a 0% chance he lands here.
  12. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) To play devil's advocate, so was Jeff Samardzija for Addison Russell. Touché
  13. I'm definitely not knocking Hahn for this. This is what happens when you win and lose. Royals have Morales and we get LaRoche. s*** happens.
  14. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 11:42 PM) Quintana is untouchable. Where do you get that from? *Edit - I'm editing my OWN post. He is more valuable (arguably) than Sale. THAT is how good Q is. wut? Sale has more value to this team. Stop it.
  15. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 11:53 PM) Well..yeah..there..is. He's done MLB time and he's been sent down. He doesn't hit (when up) and his defense is atrocious. He pretty much sucks. AT EVERYTHING - he's supposed to be good at. Anyway - Here's MY PLAN: Sign Cespedes (4 years at least) Don't trade any of our pitchers Give Avi One more Chance (Ces,Eat,Avi) LaRoche (Who? - DFA...eat the $) Let our SP pitch. LET THEM PITCH!!!! Sooooo.....nothing at 3B, C? SS? That's it. I want Cespedes IN and LaRoche OUT of my life. 5-10 WINS...right there. 2017...different plan. Soooo.....what about 3B, C, SS?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Cespedes has cost himself some of the millions he gained from his strong second half performance in NY. Like with Cueto, there are going to be some hard questions from AL teams about overpaying. Ya right. They're both still gona get paid big time.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Why is Frazier unrealistic? You really don't think we have the chips to land him? I think his second half and limited control will bring down to his cost to a somewhat reasonable level (won't be cheap by any means though). I get the argument that Gordon is unrealistic, but not when you're saying you'd rather spend the money he'd get on multiple free agent targets for the same amount of money. The payroll may or may not be a problem, way too early to say with any certainty. Gordon and Frazier would make about $28M combined in my scenario, which we should be able to afford with a moderate payroll increase (to about $135M). If not, there are some guys we could move to clear some space. So again, I'll ask you what's so unrealistic about adding these guys. Go ahead and question if it's the best use of resources, but I don't see why it's a ridiculous proposal. Especially since we need to have a big offseason.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) If we had signed Morales his left leg would have fell off and gravy would have spilled out. 2015 wasn't our year. Hasn't been our year since '05
