  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) I don't think the Reds would have to eat any money in a Votto deal. Even though his contract will be a burden, right now he could easily get something similar on the free agent market. He is one of baseball's top talents when he's healthy and if you want that guy on your team, you're gonna have to bid for him. Demanding that they eat a bunch of money isn't gonna get Joey Votto. I'm out on that no thanks.
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Once again Quintana gets overlooked, even by White Sox fans. Hard to get wins with little to no run support.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) LaRoche isn't even that big of a deal. He has one year left. Against a deal like that, he is meaningless. Ya I know but he was so bad his $12 mil sucks.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) He would be so nice to have in front of Abreu. They'd have to eat a ton of that and take back LaRoche in the deal lol
  5. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) You're outfielders just play in on slap hitters taking any additional alley space away. Slap hitters are rarely going to hit it over their heads. Wider alleys are more beneficial to power hitters that have the ability to hit to the alleys. That's why Miggy and Victor have a ton of doubles in their park.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) If you are willing to pay Joey Votto over $200 million to play for you his entire 30s, he probably could be had for a song. Naw I'm good. '16 $20 mil '17 $22 mil '18 $25 mil '19 $25 mil '20 $25 mil '21 $25 mil '22 $25 mil '23 $25 mil '24 $20 mil with $7 mil buyout
  7. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) Dodgers lose in a game 5 of the NLDS and then can Mattingly while Sox announce Ventura back after second consecutive underachieving season... They're also trying to win it all. They can't get over the hump. Different teams drastically different situations even though I agree.
  8. I'd rather sign a few second tier FAs than give up Sanchez, Micah, Trey and Adams.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) Considering the source and Eaton being one of a few productive hitters in '15, I take this with a grain of salt. I think it's much more possible the Sox try to move Melky or Avi to fit Thompson into the lineup and even that's a stretch considering their values or lack thereof. Eaton isn't going anywhere but hey, it beats talking about the other team that is now at home watching the post season with the rest of us. Meh it also gives us another topic to BS about.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) I see no realistic scenario that has us paying $100 million for an outfielder. That isn't even our greatest need. It is #3, tops. Frankly I'd rather spend that money on 3 positions (3B, SS, C and maybe even a SP)
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfx.aspx?play...&position=P That has all sorts of numbers on his pitch selection, how hitters did against each pitch, movement on each pitch, batted ball data, and plate discipline data. Thanks! I'm trying to learn analytics in baseball. This will help. As for the "rift" between Coop and Shark, has it been confirmed? Has Coop had rifts with previous veteran pitchers?
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) He didn't get along with Cooper. Who's fault that is, we don't know, but I think you probably have to split it. One stat they had during one of the playoff games showed Shark threw his fastball a very small percentage of the time. Bottom 4 in baseball. I also read his slider was a big problem for him this year. He was hit hard vs. it, and in the past it was a put away pitch. I'm sure a combination of both. Vet pitching coach and vet pitcher. I want to see what his FB percentage is in relation to previous years and why he was using it so little.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) Except it will be much closer to $200 than $100 million. Agreed. Was just saying he's the one guy I'd spend it on. I'm just not a big fan of Upton, but if we sign him so be it.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) Why am I still seeing daily posts about Jason Heyward and the White Sox? Just not happening folks. Fans dreaming big. Let em dream
  15. If $100 mil + is spent on someone it's Heyward for me.
  16. Hahaha what a dumbass idea. Trade one of our actually productive hitters? Not a chance. Then what? Who leads off? If anything, to find a spot for Trayce, it's move Avi or DH Melky and move LaRoche.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) They're not friends. Cespedes isn't taking any discounts. Agreed. This is his big payday
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Eh, now you are really stretching to keep this going. What you said, isn't there in any real volume. A few people said it, SOXTALK didn't say it. DA's net that he casts usually is a wide one.
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Not sure I agree with blaming Robin for lack of fundamentals. These players have been playing baseball their entire lives, and a bunch of our players are veterans from other teams. It's not up to Robin to teach them fundamentals, they should already know how to do that. They constantly make dumb mistakes and lack focus at times. His job to hold players accountable.
  20. I haven't used winning percentage as the main reason for wanting him fired. There's many others before I'd pull that card. He hasn't had great players but there's just no accountability, consistent dumb mistakes and lacking good fundamentals.
  21. Samardzija sucked. It's on him. We gave up prospects and he bombed in a contract year. The worst thing he could've done.
  22. It's not a stretch. They were in a win or get blown up mode. It was do or die for Yost and Moore. I don't live in KC but I listen to sports radio for Chiefs coverage so I heard all about Moore and Yost
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 07:35 AM) https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blue-jays-ace-dav...17301--mlb.html Didn't realize Price was 2-6 with a 5.04 post-season ERA. That's Kershaw-esque. Close to a must win with the suddenly confident Cueto looming for Game 3. Seems like a lot of big names struggle in the postseason.
  24. So what are the top 5 hitters looking like? (Long long ways to go. Just curious)
