  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Ole. Here I will agree with Dick Allen (amazingly enough). That 1990 one was my all-time favorite season...with the exception of 2005. If we hadn't won it all, it would be a tossup. 2006 was mostly fun, and 2003. 2010 and 12, you always had the sense we just didn't have the horses. Complaining doesn't help, but neither does blind optimism and loyalty earned by being better than Bill Veeck merely in terms of spending on the team, keeping the team in Chicago and getting a new ballpark (another big miss like Sportsvision, White Flag and 1994 though) and 2005. Meanwhile, that original investment is worth hundreds of millions more...so what do we actually owe and for how long? I reserve a right, as a fan, to b**** if things are run poorly. This team sucks. However, I won't crush them for last offseason moves. They weren't bad they just didn't propel us into a contender. Who knew Shark would be a minnow? I didn't see LaRoche being LaDunn. This organization needs held accountable though. I went on my little tangent about Robin staying. I said my peace now it's their turn to make more moves.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) 5 years $7 million. Royals win the World Series, they definitely rip it up and reward him, like we did with Alexei in a way. Yes. He's the heart and soul of that team. Morales was one of the most underrated signings from last winter. When you're going good everything works. When you suck, it all sucks.
  3. Man I wish our FO would get things right. Missed on Volquez and Morales.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Hochevar instead of Davis is scary...even with a five run lead. But bottom of Toronto order coming up. You don't send Davis out there though..
  5. I was wanting Victor for the fact we had no protection for Abreu. Still don't. However, I didn't want VMart at that price
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Hating on the Royals is so 2014, get with the times. Hosmer and Moustakas still suck, but other than that, whatever. It's funny to see the contrast between them and the Cubs. One team doesn't strike out and always makes contact. The other team hits a homer, walks, or strikes out. Hosmer doesn't suck lol
  7. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) He would come cheaper than Zobrist or Murphy. I'm rather certain Murphy will get 4 years. I think Zobrist will as well because there is no draft pick compensation and every single team could use him. Victor Martinez got 4 years last year at 36 and he can play roughly zero positions. I'm not advocating them. I want Freese. Hanley is not the player you want here with a "bad" clubhouse
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) Good enough for me. Be sure to report to ST,the Sox need all the help they can get. Never played baseball. Always wanted to though.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:41 PM) Can you play 3B, RF, C or SS? No but I did stay in a Holliday Inn Express last night.
  10. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:33 PM) YOU'RE not an option. Well I'm at least 27 and hitting my prime ...
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) Yikes, three guys who cant exactly stay healthy, all of them to be 30 or older next year. No thanks This team has a ton of holes. They'd at least provide some decent bats in the lineup.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Or maybe the Sox can actually figure out how to use players like Montas or Micah. Longoria's OBP has been below a modest .330 for 2 straight years. Let's have declining veterans for 5 prospects, Alex. Micah can't stay healthy. Montas still needs minor league work.
  13. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) Other 3B options Uribe-No Freese Trade Hanley-Hell no f*** Hanley. He's not an option.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) I agree. He's young, not too expensive, talented as can be, and the Sox could market the crap out of him. He has his issues without a doubt, so some sort of support would need to be either there or created. We have enough veterans where he'd be ok. He may also tame down here whereas LA is a side show. They could maket the piss out of him. I could see a Q for Puig swap though I'd prefer a Montas package. Puig could plug right into RF and provide the impact bat and base stealer we need. We have Cubans here too and he has history with Abreu (good or bad? I don't know the true story).
  15. Oh I absolutely want Puig. This fanbase needs a flashy player. If nothing else to generate some interest. Plus he's a good player and we could use him.
  16. Anyone seen or got an update on Alomar?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) Freese would just be another placeholder, though. We might as well get Uribe back just for sentimentality. He could also double as the bench coach, saving JR some cash. They need real potential impact bats, not complementary players. Like Puig. Cargo's at the point with all his injuries you can't wait until 2017 and project him to still be healthy. While I agree with the placeholder comment, I'm not so sure Q is gone. It's going to be a big trade if he's moved. Maybe Q for CarGo and McMahon or something like Q for Puig in some kind of package with prospects involved for both teams.

  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 02:19 AM) Not top 4-5, but definitely not LAST. Somewhere in the 5-7 list of priorities. If they had a bench coach who could get through to Puig, I'd definitely take a chance bringing him on board, but that contract's not as attractive as once thought (overall) . 1. 3B-Freese 2. Deciding on Ramirez's fate or replacing him-Replace with Asdrubal 3. C-Wieters 4. Finding another starting pitcher if they're attempting to compete or deal Q to fix 2-3 areas of need positionally 5. 2B (odds are that it will be Sanchez, unless Johnson just blows everyone in ST away, is greatly improved defensively and he's 100% healthy and not afraid to test his hamstrings/legs.) 6. Ventura/Bell/front office "disorder" straightened out, new bench coach in place 7. RF (once again, this could easily be higher, but my sense is they feel they can muddle through with Avi and Thompson somehow) 8. Replacement for Albers/2nd LH reliever 9. Replacements for Soto/Beckham/Bonifacio I want those three guys. Shouldn't break the bank nor cost draft picks (?)
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:04 AM) Ooh personal attacks. And last year at this time I was hearing the "fact" that shark was an elite starter. That's not a personal attack. lol now calling you a "s***head" that's a personal attack...not that I'm calling you that just clarifying things.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:37 AM) If we had held our bullets until this offseason, we wouldnt be forced to pass on Heyward, Gordon, Cespedes, Zobrist, Wieters, Chris Davis, etc. Now we're stuck with second and third tier options, especially on the infield (Desmond, Asdrubal Cabrera, etc.) The odds of finishing higher than 4th in the ALCD are pretty darned low barring major changes in personnel. If we hadn't spent prematurely, we theoretically could have added Zobrist, Wieters and another bat like Gordon to have a really interesting team this coming season. But instead they're going to be lucky to get Parra, Pearce or Rasmus...and probably won't make another move since they're stuck with Avi, LaRoche and Cabrera. They also should have foreseen Rodon with his control issues wasn't going to slash and burn through the AL like one of the Mets' young phenoms. I'm honestly fine with adding Freese, AC and an impact bat through trade. Maybe even signing Wieters. He isn't getting a McCann type deal.
