  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Exactly. I LIKED Semien, but we have to acknowledge that it's a good idea to trade from depth. Yup. Still to this day don't have an issue with the trade.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) did anyone get to listen to the mlb rumor podcast with Hahn today. he was going to discuss the offseason. Would like a link to this if anyone finds it. Thanks
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) Look at the list of prospects Boston offered Seattle for King Felix, and gave them their choice of 5. While Seattle hasn't won anything since, they were far better off saying no. I don't understand why people want to get rid of stars for prospects. You must love when the Sox lose. That's why I haven't advocated trading for him. But to even start the discussion of need one sure fire impact bat.
  4. Anderson is the least of our worries right now. He'll be fine.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Surely you don't think their trade values are anywhere near equal, right? Lol that's why I said "completely different animal".
  6. I'm completely fine with not canning Stevenson. We need better hitters. Last year we started off extremely hot (Steverson was awesome) this season started off historically bad (does that make him bad?). This year I expect some kind of mean between the two.
  7. QUOTE (MindGame2004 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) So yeah, what would Sale get? Exactly my point. Sale is a different animal. You'd need at least one impact MLB ready bat. Ala Puig, Arenado, etc. plus a package of at least 3 top prospects.
  8. I'm sick of seeing us compared to the Cubs. Two completely different teams with different philosophies. We don't have the fan base they do. Never will. This FO needs to get it right. Spend money again this offseason. Make some additions and get an impact bat. If it means trading Q, so be it. The Cubs also value a good manager. We don't. Their front office is just flat out better. But again two different teams. We develop pitching they develop hitting.
  9. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) You get young talent on your team by drafting it and not trading it away. "The same philosophy that hasn't worked" involved trading away all of their prospects for more expensive veterans. Signing free agents, who only cost money, while keeping your prospects to filter onto the MLB team is a different philosophy. While true, to get something you have to give something up. I'm not referring to this Hanley idea however.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) All three might be a stretch since their salaries combined for just a tick over 22M this season and are bound to get raises with their new contracts. Just a guess on my part but I can see the three of them easily adding 30M+ to the payroll which would put the Sox payroll in the mid 130's. I would think seriously about trying to get Wieters on a multi year deal and slide him over to 1B when LaRoche is gone. Could work if we got a nice young catcher
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Buddy Bell, Hahn, KW, Steverson, Robin, new bench coach, Vince Coleman... Can cross each of them out when they're no longer with the organization and only the bench coach is left standing. McEwing, if he doesn't end up taking another job, can probably stick him up there too. That banner would suck. Would have some misspellings, some photoshop issues. Just wouldn't be DEVELOPED properly.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) Ok, I follow you. The Sox could very well have the funds available for Freeze and Cabrera, would solidify two positional needs. That's a solid plan. Ya my plan of AC, Freese and Wieters isn't out of the realm of possibility. All won't command big contracts. I'd really like to see these three signed.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) I think these fastball pitchers are better for the Jays to face. I hope the Astros pull through though. For a casual fan, this is nightmare. All the teams remaining wear blue as their primary color when the Dodgers beat the Mets. And the Dodgers and Royals have similar jerseys to a casual. I was thinking about that today. All blue lol
  14. You're right. Joe Maddon is meaningless for the Cubbies Sure maybe the Cards can get away with it now but they're just a great organization. But managers definitely matter.
  15. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) The White Sox won the World Series with Ozzie Guillen as the manager. The manager doesn't matter. Ozzie at least had experience. Ventura didn't when hired and just flat out sucks. Ozzie did a good job during the playoff run though
  16. Cueto is a bad boy! Damn would be nice to have him behind Sale
  17. All this dick measuring over KW and Hahn. They're in the "paid to get it right" business. Right now, they're not getting it right. Bottom line. This is a big offseason.
  18. Step one: Hire a professional manager.
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) A few things. Cabrera is a good idea except he will likely cost more than Alexei in terms of salary and contract. Now if Cabrera could slide over to 3B when Anderson was ready then there's no problem. Cabrera is going 30 years old so there's no reason to think he cannot get more than a one year deal. If the Sox trade Q then who replaces him in the rotation? Montas I would not hesitate to trade for the right player and I'm hoping the Sox look into a Montas for McMahon trade. Montas is rated #54 and McMahon #50 in the top 100. Problem is that McMahon has only played at A+, likely starts '16 at AA so he won't be ready until 2017 at the earliest. I'll take it since he would give the Sox another young 3B option to go with Michalczewski. Freeze is a good idea and could be a great stop gap to hopefully Michalczewski or McMahon if the Sox can trade for him. My plan for AC was sign him to 2 or 3 year deal. When Tim is ready, move him to 2B. Have Freese at 3B
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 07:01 AM) He also has no money. That's bulls***. This is a major league franchise. If they were ready to sign Shark, then they sure as hell would be able to sign a couple second tier FAs or one big one.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 07:08 AM) While Harrelson would be amped, Carlos Gomez would either get injured or do a pre-steroids Sammy Sosa impersonation with the White Sox. Parra or Pearce will be cheaper...that's how we roll. Second and third tier players other than Robertson and Abreu. I'm hoping for David Freese, Asdrubal Cabrera as the stop gap to Anderson, and Wieters. No reason to not be able to sign those guys. They won't be breaking the bank. Then finding an impact bat via trade. Whether it's moving Q or a Montas package. I also wonder if Colorado would give up their 3B prospect McMahon. We could look at young catchers around the league and maybe grab one to sit behind Wieters until they're ready.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Rick Hahn has no choice. Yup. I'm not even advocating spending a fortune on one player. They should sign at least 3 players.
  23. I'm predicting a busy offseason because they have to have one. I expect a new 3B, SP, C and an impact bat. Preferably RF.
