  1. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) This team wants to play. They are playing to stay together and not trade away Shark. If they continue to win until the deadline, then they earn the right to stay together. I guess I might say they are showing us that TWTW. (Oh Hawk, you poet you). Actually F*** Hawk, but this team is playing some good ball. It might be even more fun to watch if we can somehow parlay LaDouch out of here and maybe bring Micah up. They should've played better earlier. Hahn has to do what's right. Trading Shark is that.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) It's amazing how weird this saga is and continues to be. The Sox get Shark and many magazines pick them to win the division with this amazing pitching staff. Then the team plays so putrid and goes on so many weird losing streaks and stretches of abysmal play, most of us give up (El Rockin and maybe 1-2 others kept faith). Now, suddenly Sox are only 5 out of the second wildcard and there is the chance this upcoming trade will be what kills the team's chances once and for all, lol. Moral of the story: Don't play such BAD baseball when you are bad. I mean, ON PAPER, this team continues to be in the wild card race. The trade of Shark, however, figures to doom the team more, unless Johnson is amazing. At this point, I won't even be mad if they keep him and we get a draft pick when we lose him to free agency. I mean, this team is so fricking WEIRD we probably should keep it intact all season to see what ultimately happens. I mean this team is so bizarre LaRoche will probably find his stroke in September and hit 15 homers that month. At this point I'd rather keep Shark then send him away and get ripped off. Like I said, this freakishly weird team will probably go 25-5 in September and win the WC, then loose in the playoffs, cruise to the World Series. This team needs to go 3 of 4 in BOS and sweep NYY before I can buy in. Just can't let myself believe yet.
  3. @jonmorosi: #Tigers about to fall to 8-11 since Miguel Cabrera went on the disabled list. And he's not close to rejoining their lineup. But they're buyers lol!?
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 4m4 minutes ago Source: Jays believed they were close to deal for Carlos Carrasco, but things fell apart. @ShiDavidi wrote this earlier today. https://twitter.com/ChrisCotillo Good for us
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) Tim Anderson, Avisail Garcia, and Frank Montas for Justin Upton For one year of Upton I wouldn't move Anderson. Definitely intriguing because we need an impact bat in the worst way. Edit: didn't realize he was a free agent. Definitely wouldn't move Anderson for him.
  6. I wouldn't exactly call us surging. Wait to see if we go into Boston and stay hot. This s*** could get mildly interesting.
  7. Ya can't be in between. Buy or sell. If you sell, move Shark and try and get an impact bat somehow. I absolutely would t move pen arms because we need them if this is a 3 year window.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) That's 100 percent an Illitch decision. I'm positive of that. Yup.
  9. It's just GM speak unless he think his jobs on the line. DET buying would be great for us.
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Their GM came out before tonight's game & said they are going all in & buying. Idiotic, I know. Good luck with whole "all-in" philosophy with that farm system.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) But still just .273 overall at AAA this year. And yes, he is a potential Samardzija trade return. Ok thanks. I don't trust us to develop hitters that's why I'm kind of intrigued about moving Q as a package for an impact bat.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) That, and he hasn't even performed well in the minors. He's hit really well actually since being sent down. Currently hitting .390 during his 14 game hit streak at AAA. Just FYI. I've never heard of him so I looked him up. Has he been mentioned as a name for Shark? It's just names at this point no one knows the package.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) FWIW, the Rangers are out of all Samardzija/rental trade talks and are now looking for players who are signed beyond 2015. They're going for Hamels anyways. If they get Hamels then LA is going for Price. If DET keeps price then maybe we can have some luck and have TOR and LA battle for Shark.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Don't underestimate the Coors Field effect. However, I agree that it would be interesting! It was just another crazy prediction. I'm not pounding the table for it but if we decide against selling or even want to move Shark and get a bat, then CarGo would be an interesting piece. For the fact that he's been hurt and is having a decent year this year and has played in 88 games. He's been somewhat healthy this year. Could be a very intriguing and KW does have a history of outside the box moves. Plus I love CarGo. He's my favorite player not on the Sox. I'm biased lol. Contract details: '16 he makes 17 million and in '17 he makes 20 million. Not sure what he's owed the rest of his 16 million this year. Obviously Colorado would be sending some money back in the deal.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) How would trading for a guy who's hitting .239 away from Coors Field help this offense? It's not 2011. Carlos Gonzalez stayed red-hot on Sunday, blasting another pair of home runs and driving in six as the Rockies demolished the Reds 17-7 at Coors Field. Gonzalez delivered an RBI single to start a 10-run third inning, which he finished with a two-run homer. He wasn't finished though, as he clobbered a three-run shot in the fifth to cap off his massive afternoon. He has now hit seven home runs in his last nine games and is slashing .270/.326/.497 on the season with 18 long balls and 47 RBI. CarGo wouldn't be a bad guy to try and go get for this lineup. It'd be an interesting acquisition for protection for Abreu.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Despite the #WhiteSox' recent good play, I still expect them to trade Jeff Samardzija. They may consider buying and selling now. https://twitter.com/DevanFink/status/625441682838978560 We need to buy and sell if possible if we have this "3 year window."
  17. White Sox sweep Boston trade for CarGo. Keep Shark. Montas, Avi for CarGo.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) Jesus. I never said he wasn't good. Aren't you capable of understanding that typically spending first round draft picks on relievers isn't usually the best policy or organizational plan? In this case, it worked out, but that doesn't mean it was sound decision-making. It wasn't just Duffy and Finnegan, btw, it was Ventura and a young core of position players all peaking at around the right time, team speed, defense and the best bullpen in modern baseball history. None of that has changed, except for Gordon being out and Ventura having his comeuppance (but now seemingly chastened and I'm sure that Cueto will be a great role model). They still have the best record in the AL, and they're unlikely to crack under the pressure like the 2006 White Sox did as the Tigers/Twins surged. Finnegan has been disappointing in the sense he wasn't able to add another pitch, just like Carlos Rodon will be disappointing if he remains a two-pitch pitcher for the remainder of his big league career (unless he has an incredible surge of fastball control). Rodon has two pitches? That's news to me. He has a changeup, fastball and slider. That's just a bad comp.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) And selling will help that? We are in a complicated spot No it won't. I'm just saying we need to beat good teams not just s***ty Indians.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) We now face an even s***tier Boston team that could put us within a couple games of a playoff spot. Beating up on s***ty teams means nothing. We need to beat the Yankees and Royals coming up.
  21. Sweeping a shifty Cleveland doesn't change things. That's my opinion at least.
  22. If we add then KW is really in charge. If we sell then Hahn really does have input
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) Sweep! And the Twins are losing big. Not so fast on selling. Meh, we really would have to at least take 3 of 4 in BOS and play lights out for them to even think about it.
