@aycockonxion According to a source, the White Sox have told the Astros that Sale is only available if they include Correa. LOL yup

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Saw Evan Grant tweet a few days ago that Profar really wants to be a SS next year. Don't think that would happen here. Lots of reasons I'm not a fan of the Rangers two main guys. I don't like how many years of control he has left and his agent.

Use Texas to drive up the price for Boston of LA IMO. I'd trade Frazier for Gallo but not Sale or Quintana. For Sale, it starts with Odor. Odor, Mazara and we have something to talk about.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Talking about Bogaerts is dumb because Boston isn't moving him, unless it for was Sale AND Q which would never happen. I as referring to Hahn's asking price. I didn't say that's what we'll get. Purely speculative on my part man. Same goes for the sox and Sale. Dumb that people are talking about moving him right? Considering they're not. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) If they're giving you Bogaerts and Moncada, that's enough right there to get rid of Sale. Bogaerts is just as valuable as he is right now. I'm not saying he'll get it but I'm sure he's asking for a f*** ton back. Thus, WSD saying short of Trout in return. Rightfully so, Sale is one of the top pitchers in all of baseball. Proven year in year out. Just trading him for a package of young prospects is a risk in itself. He knows he can't f*** this up. I'm very curious to see what he gets for Quintana. I don't think Sale is traded until this off-season at the very earliest. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Are they prepared to give up Moancada, Swihart, Benintendi, and Bogaerts? *That is officially the craziest "fleecing" deal I've ever typed out. I'm sure Hahn is asking for Bogaerts, one of JBJ or Betts, Moncada and Benintendi. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Was going to do this before, but here's your potential 2019 roster with these trades. We'd also have a boatload of money and an epic free agent class to spend it on to fill in the gaps (obviously not all these guys would work out). Someone please tell me how holding onto Sale and/or Quintana makes more sense? 1B: Bellinger 2B: Moncada SS: Anderson 3B: Devers LF: Verdugo CF: Benintendi RF: Eaton DH: Abreu C: Collins #1: Urias #2: Rodon #3: Fulmer #4: Kopech #5: Adams/Hansen CL: Burdi SU: Jones It doesn't. But the Sox have to hold their ground and get what they want. They will because they're in no rush to give their star SPs away. That's a big bonus for us. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) whitesoxdave @barstoolWSD whitesoxdave Retweeted Joon Lee Cats out of the bag I guess. I was told Red Sox are definitely talking to the White Sox about Robertson Ya with Kimbrel hurt, I expect them to land a package of Q and Robertson. -

I want Moncada really bad as Anderson's double play combo along with he at the top with Eaton and Anderson I've picked Boston for Quintana all along. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) Things at the time that seem like great ideas don't work either. Matt Davidson, some couldn't believe the Sox fortune being able to get him. According to one very negative poster at the time of the trade, Davidson was the best 3B prospect available. The conversation was when does the Super 2 kick in. I posted BPs top 20 prospect list from 6 years ago on here a couple of months ago. If you had all of them, you would need a lot more help to be a playoff contender, just once in a while. Trading Sale with several years left on his contract better get you back actual future stars, not just guys that look like they may be them, or your rebuild makes no sense. And that is hard to do. The value you're getting for Sale or even Quintana is a lot better than the return for Addison Reed. Yes we all know some of these guys won't work out. My fear is they f*** around for another 3 seasons and it's no better. That's another three years wasted. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) Ok, such as former sure-fire thing Joc Pederson who has crashed and burned since his AS appearance. Or Gordon Beckham, someone that Derek Jeter and Steve Stone would be a multiple MVP award winner and was picked for the 2010s all-decade team, with elite defense and bat speed. I'm not saying don't make the deals, but don't expect them to be surefire successes either. Yes. Some of these "sure-fire" prospects won't pan out. Some under the radar guys will become relevant. I.e. Frankie Montas. Not that he's established. But Avi crashed and burned and he came pretty much out of nowhere to become one of our top prospects. Some will flourish some won't. That's baseball. -

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:47 AM) Sorry but try another stab at it. Swihart is no longer a catcher, before he went on long term disabled list. His catching was a liability so they sent him back to AAA to learn left field. He did play a few games in left at Fenway before getting hurt. Uh ok. I think it's fine if Swihart is the only problem. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) The Sox are f***ed if they look to the Cubs as an example of what they can do. I'm just saying I'm sure that has some influence on their decision. Not saying they can replicate it. -

I'm curious what kind of value Eaton has? s***s and giggles mainly. He's one of the guys I'd keep. (Anderson, Eaton, Fulmer, Rodon) Lawrie is another guy we could keep in the end as well. Still young and would lock down 2nd or go to 3rd if we got Moncada to play 2nd. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:27 PM) Thought that factoid that Griffey is the first #1 draft pick to go to the HoF was fascinating. Seems to undermine the idea that there are really big payoffs for a full-on tanking approach. Note that I am not saying the draft is a 100% crap shoot and that higher picks aren't better. But one must admit it makes far more sense to undertake such a strategy in the NBA, where 19 number 1s will be Hall of Famers starting in 1958 (Elgin Baylor) through 2003 (LeBron James, making an assumption here). After Griffey, the only surefire HoF caliber player is Alex Rodriguez who clearly won't get in and then you have the fringey Chipper Jones who may make it in. No obvious HoFers after that, though Bryce Harper is on a promising path and David Price is haivng a great career. I don't care to get the number one pick while tanking. Look how 2014 went. 3rd pick and got Rodon. I believe Correa was like the 3rd pick in his draft. Trout was like 25. We could go on and on.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:59 PM) Think we are in lose for draft spot time now. Just don't get swept by the Cubs Same. Didn't wana say it because some will say oh here we go again with that crap. That's where we're at. We'll win games but I want that top 10 pick. Well easily have it if we really do move guys.

QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:20 PM) If you're serious about rebuilding, then don't trade any of the pitching. Trade all of the hitters except Morneau & Saladino as they are the only players who know how to work the pitch count. Get back hitting prospects who have demonstrated the ability to work the pitch count. Problem is our best assets are our top two stud SPs. They'll bring back the best value and speed up the process. Morneau is like 35 and has little to no value. I'm sure Saladino doesn't have much value to other teams as well. -

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:16 PM) Nailed it. It's a problem of holes and timing. If you don't trade Sale, Q, their contracts will end before the parts you bring in from the rest of the fire sale reach the majors. The problem would still be patchwork fixes. That's why there will be a rebuild IMO. They know this "3 year plan BS" is just that BS. I think the Cubs rebuilding and now flourishing has some affect on it. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) In all honesty, this is interesting right now? Only thing I make sure to watch right now on a consistent basis is Anderson. I'm watching for the young guys Anderson, Fulmer, Rodon. Eaton, Sale and Q. Abreu too if he wasn't having a down season. There's just no excitement for me because I know there's nothing ahead in the short term. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) To be completely honest, if we traded Sale and Quintana, there's almost no return that wouldn't still have me much less interested in following the team for the foreseeable future. It would absolutely be a punt to a few years from now hoping that we at least walk away with a couple of guys as good as the ones we lost. Agreed but I would be excited to have a positive direction and not the patchwork s*** we've been doing. It's sad we haven't made the playoffs with Sale and Q as our 1-2. I'd at least have fun following young players on the team and watch them grow and mature. Then in the minors I'd be interested in seeing those young guns develop and who doesn't. Not all will. Lot of them won't but hope the important ones do and then there's always some hidden gems. Look at the Avi trade. Hahn was able to move the lesser prospects for Brett Lawrie and Todd Frazier (JB Wendelken and Frankie Montas). That's what I would be watching for. It'd be rough but at least this team would hopefully grow into some success. There's growing pains for sure. But we've watched this s*** show since 2007 with the exception of 2008 and 3/4 of 2012. We could handle a rebuild. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Collins picked off a guy at 3rd it looks like Very nice. Hope he sticks at catcher. At least for a little bit.
