  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) You just said they didn't get the Red Sox's top 2 prospects, so what exactly are you trying to say? Besides angry venting at the internet. If it's only Basabe and Diaz rounding out the package I will be upset Moncada has massive upside, but I need Devers or Groome in this deal to put it over the top
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Hey Dick Allen, they traded Moncada... Devers better be in that package Who those other two prospect are makes a massive difference
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) I don't like that for the Sox at all. After looking at it again, I'm not sure I like it all that much either Abreu should net more than Tapia, Wall and Freeland. I'm not high on Wall. Abreu should get the Sox at least one top 50 prospect, plus two more decent prospects Flipping Giolito for Rodgers is a wash You are essentially dealing Sale for less
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Three way trade stolen from poster jonathanrod on SSS that I like a lot and is probably unrealistic from Rockies (but they are the PERFECT team to stretch out for a run) Rockies get: Abreu Giolito White sox get: Robles Rodgers Ramel Tapia Erik Feede Carter Kieboom Nick Banks Forrest Wall Kyle Freeland Nats get: Robertson Sale Wow, what a mega blockbuster. Although honestly Rodgers and Giolito might be a prospect wash and I feel like Tapia, Wall and Freeland is not necessarily the best offer we could get for Abreu Wall's defense is flat out bad, and I am not sure the hit tool makes up enough for it. That would jump start a rebuild for sure though
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) I can't imagine Gio nets Rutherford. But obviously would be stoked for that package. The Yankees have a very enviable farm system right now, and not just in the top 10 They have really great depth throughout the system with interesting prospects. Hell their #20 overall prospect Montgomery had a great season and could profile as a #4 or #5th starter soon. I would not be shocked at all to see the Yankees absolutely stacked in 2-3 years, especially with a few trades/free agent pick ups
  6. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Absolutely. I wanted to Sox to take him in the draft. That's the type of player we need for the future. He's in that Kyle Tucker/Devers group for me of guys who will just hit. I know he got injured, but I was very surprised that the White Sox passed on Kyle Lewis for Collins. Time will tell, but I really liked his power Rutherford is a long way off making the majors, his ETA is 2020. That was too far out for the Sox to consider drafting him I think
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Kopech did completely dominate the AFL Jared miller in the Diamondbacks system totally dominated the AFL 18 innings pitched, 0.00 ERA, 6 hits, 4 walks, 30 K's He's their #28 ranked prospect...don't read too much into AFL stats
  8. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Giolito and Robles > Moncada and Kopech. And if Basabe is the beset 3rd piece Boston will do then no thanks....no idea why people are so caught up in names here. Just because you hadn't heard of Robles before yesterday that doesn't mean he's not a great get for the White Sox. There's a damn good chance that his time next year he will be the new Moncada level prospect. You don't go from asking for Betts 6 months ago to lowering your price to Moncada or Benintendi + Kopech + Basabe Moncada or Benintendi is a must in a Boston offer + Devers as a mandatory second piece + Groome or Kopech as a third piece + 2 of E Rod/Swihart/Basabe/lower level guys Moncada/Benintendi + Devers + Kopech/Groome + E Rod/Swihart/Basabe/lower level prospects is a fair offer for both sides
  9. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Really? Robles grades as a 60 hit tool, where Basabe currently grades as a 45 hit tool...which is a big difference A 60 hit grade is certainly plus, a 45 grade is fringe average Robles has a significantly higher ceiling due to the plus hiot tool and lower strikeout rates. His speed is also a 70 grade, which is elite
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) I don't know. I think it's overblown. Moncada was in AA and got a september callup for a handful of at bats. You like Moncada because he has developed his power, but almost everything else Robles already has at a premium defensive position. Both have good plate discipline and walk rates. Robles OTOH doesn't strike out. Robles was a 19 year old in A+, Moncada was a 21 year old in AA. I'm fine with either. Depends on what surrounds them. If we can continue to find dynamite athletic players like Anderson and Robles with the rest of the rebuild we could end up with a Royals like team. The only real knock on Robles is that he has not developed much power, but defensively he has a 65 grade arm and projects as a 60 grade fielder which is outstanding. Center field defense is really important. Right now Robles ceiling appears to be a lack of power he projects as a .280 hitter with 10-15 home runs, great speed and excellent defense/arm. That can be a very exciting player...I'm thinking he is somewhat like Lorenzo Cain/Andrew McCutchen? Robles is the type of player that if he has a great season could move into the "untouchable" discussion.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) I think when you get into that level of players, it becomes a teams personal preference. This is where your scouts and developmental people have to take the lead. Nats: Giolito + Robles + Sox choice of Lopez or Fedde + Kieboom + Neuse or Stevenson Anything less and I don't think we should trade Sale. Giolito and Robles have alot of potential, but neither are close to being a sure thing. Sox can't deal Sale and miss on the return or they will set the franchise back a decade
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) I think they are targeting the right types of players. I just hold a level of doubt about getting them to the majors. I know things have gotten better recently, but I keep asking myself the question is it because we are drafting better, or developing better. Apparently the White Sox were not close to trading Sale last night, but did mention that the Nationals were aggressive in their proposals
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) Need to start thinking about frameworks instead of deals. Unlikely that is final package. But Top 5 prospect in baseball plus 100 mph arm plus 20 year old center fielder with good hit tool and OBP skills is a framework to pit against Nationals. I do care about framework Benintendi/Moncada would be great additions with upside Devers is really a must for me as a second piece I would consider a Benintendi / Devers / Kopech / Basabe package + maybe one more lower level prospect

  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Take it with a massive grain of salt but a guy on a football message board that broke the news of the Thornburg trade 18 hours before it happened is saying he has a source that says the Red Sox are making a push for Sale with Moncada/Kopech/Basabe. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/view...144406#21144406 Moncada/Kopech/Basabe is way too light of a return for me To even consider the offer I would need Moncada or Benintendi + Devers + Groome + Kopech Anything less than 4 top 100 prospects would be a big failure on the part of the White Sox. Make a team pay dearly
  16. QUOTE (Username @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Exactly. I know it's not a position player, but a valuable ML player like Ross would certainly elevate the Sale package well beyond the Miller package. Giolito/Robles is a decent start to a package, but much more would have to be coming to the White Sox I would insist on Reynaldo Lopez as the third piece. He has arguably had more minor league success than Giolito this past season, and I like how he is now trending upward in value. Then I require two more high upside pieces. Carter Kieboom gets included in the package, as well as either Neuse or Stevenson Anything less and I don't think the overall package will be worth it to the White Sox without Turner in it. Giolito is a prospect with upside, but one that is arguably declining. He is nowhere near the prospect that Urias is. I am not accepting Fedde over Lopez. Lopez is a significantly better prospect.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) I don't disagree with you about Turner, I'm just saying I think Hahn and Co are holding out for Turner still. I think if the discussion was about the remaining prospects, and Giolito and Robles were agreed upon, they would have been hammering this thing out last night. The absence of rumors overnight suggests that did not happen. Not quite sure there is as big of a difference between Turner's perceived value and Benintendi's, but you certainly seem to feel as though Benintendi is a possible get while Turner is not. Is there really a huge difference between a package of Benintendi/Devers/Kopech and Turner/Giolito/Robles? I'd take the latter, but I think some here would choose the former. I would much rather have Turner/Giolito/Robles For all intents and purposes Benintendi and Turner are relatively close in prospect value. Robles and Devers are aty a similar stage of developemt and top 20 prospects. Robles is the #2 OF and Devers is the #1 3B prospect. I see a pretty significant gap between Giolito and Kopech though. Kopech has yet to throw more than 65 minor league innings yet. Giolito is very close to being mlb ready. I don't think he will ever be an ace, but he could be a #2 starter if developed properly.
  18. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:49 PM) if Hahn is okay with "untouchables" while negotiating to trade Sale, he's a complete and utter failure of a GM. I'll critique a trade once it is finalized, until then we really don't know.
  19. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:27 PM) I was just thinking that Tapia + Freeland seems like a pretty good package. Freelands lack of stikeouts concern me and limit him to a #4 at best starter in my opinion, more likely#5 or long relief
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:31 PM) They certainly do. Definitely can see them asking for him as a starting point. Hoffman has been too hittable so far in the minors. He needs to improve his command to be successful
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Interesting to say the least. I like Abreu and presume the market has undervalued him as a whole. Will be interesting to see what we could get. I say that in the perspective that I think the stat junkies underrate the value of his bat (i.e., I find him an underrated player via WAR). David dahl would be a great addition
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) Rosenthal said they're negotiating the other pieces. Plural. I'll trust Rosenthal over Bowden. Lopez would be a great piece. Fedde has back of the rotation potential, kieboom would be an interesting young player to add, Ross is a possibility...
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Must be why it's not that close yet. Would imagine the rounding out is only getting discussed now. I would be pissed if the final piece is a low minor league player
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Probably profiles at best a platoon, defensive catcher. Any word as to what other pieces out of Ross, fedde, kieboom, lopez, severino, neuse, dunning, etc we are getting?
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst 26s27 seconds ago Jayson Stark Retweeted Daryl Van Schouwen Surveyed several teams that are in on Sale this afternoon. They don't expect him to get moved at the meetings. The price hasn't dropped. Nor will the price drop If a team wants Sale they know what it is going to take Elite Aces do not grow on trees
