Lance Lynn locked up 2 years 38 mill + club option
Some team may be desperate enough for pitching to overpay Rodon, but I do think the extensive injury history and short track record of elite performance will give most clubs pause on a big money deal. Sox best bet is to offer the QO and see how things play out

Trade Deadline Thread
A rebuilding club absolutely could give him a shot. The power is legit, and even modest hit tool improvement could lead to him being a viable corner OF.

Me too. Cannot argue with stupid

If I had to guess the trade deadline haul it would be Escobar and possibly a pen arm (not necessarily in the same trade) Sox may aim higher, but I think they will find pricetags too steep

Twitter debate going on right now I'm a bit surprised at how many Sox fans seemingly would do this deal for Frazier. It's a hard no for me. Burger/Stiever/Ramos/Rodriguez/Dalquist for Frazier E6boObpXMAwDQFM.jfif

I don't see Gallo to the Sox happening 2B or bullpen help seem more pressing needs

Escobar makes a ton of sense as a rental. Cost cannot possibly be all that high.

Is Ramos capable in the field? Huge difference to his prospect status vs. if he can only DH

Walker's .738 OPS is not horrible, but he also turns 25 years old at the end of the month. To profile even as a 4th or 5th outfielder he would need to start hitting better

Draft Day 3 Thread rounds 11-20
I'd bet against the farm improving much during our competitive window. Prospects will be used in trades to bolster the MLB roster. It's the reality of building a championship club outside of the Dodgers/Rays, who are in another league in terms of scouting/development.

Fangraphs Farm System Rankings (7/9/21)
Is he THAT bad in the field? Would be a major knock if so

White Sox select Colson Montgomery #22 overall
Agreed. Many scouting departments dock a prospect big time as a 19 year old prep player. The advantage of being 19 and playing against majority 17-18 year olds cannot be overstated.

That is a crazy stat In fairness, a lack of pitching has been the reason why the Angels have been so mediocre the past decade. No excuse when you have Trout, Ohtani, Rendon

Fangraphs Farm System Rankings (7/9/21)
Not a crazy take, but I'd argue Ramos has staked his claim as the best position prospect in the system (pre-draft). A 121 wRC+ in A ball at age 19 will certainly grab attention.

Fangraphs Farm System Rankings (7/9/21)
Montgomery/Kath are likely in or near top 10 system prospects at this point, with Burke likely being in the top 15 The system has had so many graduations as of late that it should be no surprise that the cupboard is pretty bare. Colas signing will help over the winter, but this is still a bottom 5 farm.

Kath, McDougal and possibly Burke will be overslot deals

2021 MLB Draft Day 2 Thread
Exactly. Sox blew their wad with Montgomery/Katz/Burke/McDougal selections and now will be looking to primarily save money

Certainly have to like the upside Montgomery/Kath/Burke bring to the table. Worth punting a few rounds on cheapo seniors for.

Gavin Sheets - STUD
I absolutely could see the Sox using Sheets and/or Burger as trade bait at the deadline. With Cespedes/Colas in the pipeline the Sox should be in a good place OF prospect wise.

Minor League Catch-All 2021
Glancing at our minors, very few of our prospects seem to be having what can be considered a "Good" season. Of course the farm was going to weaken as we entered the competitive window, but performances have been bleak in 2021
